Dead silence

Okay, so let me just start off with the following statement: I hate Saws. Because they are all predictable, there’s no scares or goosebumps there. But this movie, though from the same producers, was amazing! I love dolls and mannequins in horrors, and that was a big collection. Good idea, nice scenery, loved the soundtrack. The theme music is so very good. I was nicely surprised. So when I give Saws 3-4 points, mainly for fucked up ideas and amount of blood spilled, I’m giving it a hard 8.

‘Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams. Be sure to never ever scream.’

‘Ever since she was buried, Raven’s Fair has been plagued by death. Families murdered. They were found without their tongues.’

‘I don’t know! No one from this town dares speak Mary Shaw’s name, let alone go near her grave. They know she won’t stop killing, until the screaming does!’

‘Remember: whatever happens, don’t scream.’

Fame

Okay so first of all, I have not seen the musical, so I have nothing to compare the movie to. I saw 3 episodes of the series and I thought it was pretty good. Anyway the movie though was pretty…good! I loved most of their problems and showing that the fame isn’t so colorful at all, but I believe that was in original right? Loved Kay Panabaker’s character. It’s a very aspirational movie as was the series.

‘You have talent. Now let’s see what we can do with it.’

‘Mom, I’m talented!’
‘And who in the world told you were so special?’
‘You did.’

‘I’m gonna live forever!
I’m Gonna Learn How to Fly
I Feel It Coming Together
I’m never gonna stop this fight!
I’m Gonna Make It to Heaven!
Remember my name!’

Water for elephants

I really thought this movie was going to be disastrous. I was nicely surprised! I loved it so much I bought the book immediately. It was better than the movie as always, but the movie wasn’t bad. Second of all, I’m a vegan, so I hate circuses and pledge to never go there again. So for me seeing that elephant getting beat up was worse than any horror movie, which never get me scare just excitement. I think she would have jumped off that train with anyone who tried to safe her from her abusive husband, but no one has ever done it, so I guess Robert Pattison was good enough. The elephant responded to Polish commands. What’s not to love?

Pirates of the Caribbean 4

It was hard not to see Keira and Orlando. The plot was messed up. Definitely the worst part. I am disappointed. Loved Cruz’s angry Spanish. Cool action scenes as always. Blackbeard was a great character. Sad they killed them off. Barbossa’s still my favorite. His leg story was great. Maybe I’m getting old, but the mermaid plot wasn’t interesting at all, and young love is too cliché for me. Still movie was funny and had amazing special effects, as always.

‘Did everyone see that? Because I will *not* be doing it again.’

‘I was ready to take my vows! And you! What were you doing in a Spanish convent anyway?’
‘Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake.’

Evil dead

The only horror movie that scared me…when I was 12. So I rewatched it after almost 6 years and It’s still so good!

‘Soon all of you will be like me… And then who will lock you up in a cellar?’

‘Look at her eyes. Look at her eyes! For God’s sake, what happened to her eyes?’

‘Dead bodies in the cellar. Dead bodies in the…’

Silence of the lambs

I love Jodie and this is a classic.

‘What did you do?’
‘I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to.’
‘And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see?’
‘Lambs. The lambs were screaming.’
‘They were slaughtering the spring lambs?’
‘And they were screaming.’
‘And you ran away?’
‘No. First I tried to free them. I… I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn’t run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn’t run.’
‘But you could and you did, didn’t you?’
‘Yes. I took one lamb, and I ran away as fast as I could.’
‘Where were you going, Clarice?’
‘I don’t know. I didn’t have any food, any water and it was very cold, very cold. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but… he was so heavy. So heavy. I didn’t get more than a few miles when the sheriff’s car picked me up. The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again.’
‘What became of your lamb, Clarice?’
‘They killed him.’

‘Well, Clarice – have the lambs stopped screaming?’

Exorcism of Emily Rose

Laura Linney and Jennifer Carpenter meet best ‘possessions’ scenes I’ve ever seen. I did like them more than The Exorcist’s ones, so that’s something.

6/10

An American Haunting

Donald Sutherland did not save this movie, neither did the girl from Tomorrow When the World Began. It wasn’t good. I don’t have much to say about it.

4/10

The Orphan

I’m scared of evil kids like Esther. You know they’re capable of everything and you have no idea how to stop them. But the movie was good. I loved Esther’s relationship with her younger step-sister. Also, Vera Farmiga is fantastic.

‘Stop crying. Grab a foot, and help me get her off the road. Now!’

‘I’m not your fucking mommy!’

‘When grownups love each other very, very much… they want to show each other that love; they want to express it…’
‘I know. They fuck.’

‘If I find out that you’re lying, I’ll cut your hairless little prick off before you even figure out what it’s for. Do you understand me?’

‘Put it out of its misery.’

‘She’s not my fucking sister.’

‘They’ll send you to jail just for helping me hide her. I had to kill her, because she was going to tell on me. You’re not going to tell on me… are you?’

‘I’ll shoot Mommy if you tell.’

The Ward

Loved it! John Carpenter, but with  the HD picture. Didn’t like Danielle Panabaker’s character much. Everything else was more than fine.
