This year I’ve given up a few shows. I was struggling to find time to watch them, I wasn’t head over heels about the characters, so I’ve made an executive decision to cut down my loses. Shows I followed last year, but don’t anymore: The Rookie, Seal Team, The Good Doctor and Mr. Mercedes.

To see my review of 2018, click on the following link: https://joanneholly.com/2018/12/30/tv-shows-of-2018/

Last year I followed 41 shows, this year, 50.

Below are the 50 TV shows I followed this year:

1. Grey’s Anatomy

I am still sad about Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew being written off. I have mixed feelings about the show allegedly ending after season 17. Greys hasn’t been ‘Greys good’ since Season 9 and yet it’s still my favourite and it will always stay that way. Season 16 so far focuses on the crime Meredith commited last season, the insurance fraud. It’s quite surprising how this storyline mirrors the Varsity Blues scandal. Mer has done a lot of community hours and has spent a night in jail. From the looks of the midseason finale, that’s all behind us now. They have sent Betty away at the end of season 15 and she hasn’t been back to visit since. I am glad Teddy is back and I hope she never leaves. Avery is slowly becoming the most annoying character, changing his mind when it comes to relationships. Still no development on Helm and her crush on Meredith, we’ll see where they go with this. Is Helm going to be with Karina by the end of the season? I am not a fan of splitting the staff between Grey Sloan and the second hospital, but I’m guessing Grey Sloan will buy the new undeveloped one and then merge the two?

2. SVU

Season 21 and we’re making history! I just love this show. Carissi is now an ADA, and we have a new detective I’m not fond off. Fall season ended on a cliffhanger featuring Amanda and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

3. Shameless

Shameless started quite late this year, and without Emmy Rossum. Ian is back and the show is still the same, and still as exciting as ever. I’m really disappointed with how Debbie is spending the 50 grand she got from Fiona and how Frank messed it all up for her. I really thought she would ensure the money lasts them a year or two. I’m happy with how the rest of the Gallagher’s lifes are going, including the fact that Lip is now a dad!

4. Fuller House

I’m sad it’s the show’s last season. The nostalgia Fuller House brought in 2014, was something I never thought I needed. 2019 wasn’t a good year for this Full House fan. If I wasn’t a Full House fan, I wouldn’t be going through a heartbreak this year. Aunt Becky was why I got so invested in the show. Season 1 wasn’t really a family show, the three main characters kept sleeping around and other than two or three episodes, the show was boring. From the minute Aunt Becky showed up, the show got interesting. Years later, as a teenager, I watched The New Kids, and became a Lori Loughlin fan and followed every single one of her projects.

5. Carol’s Second Act

Patricia Heaton is back on my TV screen, so everything’s going to be okay. I miss The Middle, and I think my mum misses it even more. It also stars Twin Peak’s Kyle MacLachlan. Carol’s Second Act is a sitcom, and even though it’s nowhere near as good as The Middle, or Everybody Loves Raymond, it’s still a funny show and a great way to spend the 20 minutes a week.

6. American Horror Story

Sarah Paulson wasn’t back for this awful season, at least she’s shooting another two Ryan Murphy shows, Ratched and season 3 of American Crime Story, so at least there’s something to look out for. American Horror Story used to be one of my favourite shows, but sadly this season is extremely weak, everyone was dead by episode 5 and everyone was a ghost by episode 5 as well! I liked the aerobic sequences in the very first episode. I really thought it would be a Friday the 13th type of slasher like the promos suggested.

7. Crikey it’s the Irwins

This show is a delight! Nothing will stop me from revisiting Australia Zoo every time I go to Australia on a holiday. As a vegan of 9 years, I should stand against all zoos, but this series proves all the good zoos do for animal conservation. Even though guests visit, Australia Zoo is really a giant sanctuary. In the second season the Irwins are preparing for Australia Zoo’s 50th anniversary, by renovating the croc enclousure. In order to get the contractors in, they need to move all the crocs, including the biggest and the most aggressive crocs in the zoo. A beloved zebra from season 1 needs to be put down, and Terri goes back to her hometown Oregon to visit a wildlife sanctuary were her cougar Malina spent her final years. Bindi gets engaged and I just hope they show us the wedding when the show comes back for season 3. I also wish there were more episodes in the season.

8. Orange is the New Black

It ended and there will never be a show so raw and brilliant. I cannot even begin to explain what an important place this show has in my heart. Every time I hear someone say they don’t like the show because it mainly has women in it or when they say they’re not going to watch the show because of all the gay characters, I feel personally offended. I am still tearing up thinking of Dockett’s tragic end. I also hate what they’ve done to Red, Lorna and Maritza. Some pars of the ending made me happy though, for example the fact that Alex is back with her crew. I still wish they had shown us more of Big Boo and other original characters.

9. When Calls the Heart

I will never get over the fact that Abigail is not coming back. And Cody, the Culkin lookalike was taken off the show because of the Lori Loughlin scandal too. I will keep watching as long as Rosemary is there. I’ve watched 2 episodes of When the Heart Calls, the web series spin off about the orphanage a few towns from Hope Valley, but I didn’t like it at all. I’ve gotten used to the two new male characters. I doubt Netflix will add the new season to its selection, as they’ve always done it around October time.

10. Station 19

Season two was alright, but season 3 was delayed until 2020. The show’s creator left to pursue something else, which is quite odd as she’s only done 2 seasons, so from next year the show will be ran by Krista Vernoff who has been running Grey’s Anatomy, after Shonda Rhimes’s departure. One of the characters is now a quest star on Greys.

11. The Handmaid’s Tale

I even got my mom into this show! And Christopher Meloni was in 2 or 3 episodes, playing a role completely opposite from his SVU’s Elliott Stabler, a rapist! Alexis Bledel’s character got a satisfying ending, and the scene where Canadian border police officers ask her whether she’s going to be in danger if she was to be sent back to her country and she says yes, this is simply my favourite scene of the entire 2019.

12. One Day At a Time

After a quite boring season 3, and Netflix’s cancellation, the show was saved by POP and will be returning in 2020! I am still not a fan of the annoying girlfriend, but everything this shows says about immigration, PTSD and LGTBQ issues is on point.

13. The Insatiable

Season 2 differed from season 1 in the most important way, it focused on the main character, Patty’s binge eating disorder. Patty joins Overeaters Anonymous and learns the cause of her addiction to food. Yes, it’s still crazy when it comes to her psychotic behaviour resulting in murdering people, but most of the season is about her BED, and that makes it interesting.

14. The Unbelievable

A TV show about a girl who thinks she’s been raped, comes forward, and then revokes her statement, 5 times. Then two lady cops try to solve a series of rapes and eventually come across the main character’s statement. Netflix’s best show of 2019, it’s just amazing and Short Term 12 and Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever delivers a beautiful performance.

15. Big Little Lies

The show came back after 2 years, to finish what it started, it was better than season 1 because we didn’t have to sit through hours of sex and abuse.

16. Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath

This show was a hit for me. I’ve only learned about it in February, and watched all 3 seasons in two weeks. I’ve since read Leah Remini’s book ‘Troublemaker’. I am really sad to see this show go, it’s extremely informative and brings hope to victims of Scientology. It’s my favourite discovery of 2019.

17. The Goldbergs

It’s still good, but it feels like they have run out of nostalgic 80s memorbilia last season.

18. Schooled

Lanie’s spin off is now in its second season. It’s not as good as The Goldbergs, but It’s only 20 minutes a week, which makes it watchable. AJ and Aly Michalka released a single last summer, that was undoubtedly my song of summer 2019. It’s called Church and it’s amazing.

19. How to Get Away with Murder

Thank goodness it’s the last season. The first 3 seasons were great, but anything from season 4 has been bad. Someone’s killed Annalise? What was the point of the series then?

20. Killing Eve

I still haven’t caught up with season 2 fully, but I’ve been a fan of Jodie Colmer since ‘Thirteen’.

21. Ozark

My dad’s favourite show. Julia Garner is killing it every single episode. Where’s season 3?

22. Good Girls

Beth and the dealer hooked up, and Season 2 was quite different, but still entertaining.

23. Thirteen Reasons Why

I loved the first 2 seasons, but this was a mess. Why introduce a new character, and give them ALL screen time?

24. This is Us

3 more seasons yes please! I am just not okay with the writers telling us about Rebecca’s death so early in the series.

25. 911

Never disappoints with the drama, I mean the freaking tsunami blew my mind!

26. The Resident

I think I am okay with whom they killed off in the first episode, but this season introduced us to a new doctor that’s an even more arrogant copy of the new doctor they introduced last season.

27. Modern Family

Final season is here and it’s just as mediocre as everything else after season 3.

28. For the People

Sadly this Shondaland show starring Britt Robertson has been cancelled. I feel like I was the only one watching it.

29. Chernobyl

A mini docuseries from HBO everyone loves, and rightfully so.

30. Riverdale

I’m just not into it anymore. I liked season 1 and that’s it. I liked the Luke Perry tribute, but I haven’t had the time to watch all of it.

31. The Simpsons

Awesome as always. Sixty seasons should be enough for me.

32. The Good Fight

I still haven’t caught up.

33. The Good Place

They keep resetting the afterlife and it’s all the same at this point.

34. Veronica Mars

I’m just happy they didn’t kill Keith Mars, and I like the noir aspects of this season.

35. Absentia

I still haven’t fully caught up, I will update once I do.

36. F For Family

It’s a funny show and I cannot wait for season 4. I wish the main character still worked at the airport, all this vending machine business wasn’t very entertaining.

37. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I like it when it’s darker, but I just cannot stand Kiernan’s wig.

38. Divorce

The Sarah Jessica Parker show has ended and the ending surprised me. I will miss the dark humour.

39. Younger

The secret is out, Liza’s secret was exposed and she no longer has to hide. I’m a fan of Liza and Charles, but this wasn’t a good season. Kelsey makes a dumb social media mistake and gets demoted from publisher back to editor. Diana gets married. The Irish girlfriend’s baby storyline doesn’t give immigrants a good rep.

40. When They See Us

I watched it for Vera Farmiga and I knew about this case from Law and Order: Special Vicitms Unit.

41. Looking For Alaska

I used to know this girl who was obssesed with this book and always said Looking For Alaska is John Green’s best work. I haven’t read the book, so I can just rate the story for what the show is. As a child of immigrants, who don’t speak the language, I related to one of the characters. Sometimes the pressure of your family’s livelihood depending on you is too much. I know it’s got to me a few times when I had to figure out what to do in stressful situations I wouldn’t have been in had i known my family was safe and happy among their own. Acting as a translator for your family can have damaging effects on you, when your family’s health andlivelihood is at stake.

42. Dead to Me

‘Married With Children’ ‘s Christina Applegate and ‘Freaks and Geek’s Linda Cardelini return to TV in this dramedy about a woman who befriends her hit and run victim’s wife. Great acting from both, I’m really sad Linda didn’t get a Golden Globe nomination for her prformance.

43. Soundtrack

Madeleine Stowe is back! I remember when she retired back in the early 2000s and I kept checking up on her non existent projects while she was retired on her Texas ranch. Thankfully she returned to acting and starred in Revenge, portraying one of the best characters on television. When Revenge ended in 2015 I thought, well that’s it, she’s gonna go back to her retirement, but she didn’t! She just took a 4 year break and now she’s back! It looks like Madeleine’s husband, Dream On and Private Practice’s Brian Benben is currently on a break himself. Anyway, I’m a huge fan, and could talk about Madeleine’s filmography for hours.

Soundtrack, originally called Mixtape, is a new Netflix show about stars Madeleine Stowe, Jenna Dewan (is this why she left The Resident?) and Gradfathered’s Christina Millian.

The pilot episode has a depressing ‘This is Us’ twist. Jenna Dewan’s character’s name is Joanna (heck yes!) and she’s a dancer. Above I mention how watching season 2 of The Resident made me think of Step Up every single episode. To see Jenna’s character’s dance audition sequence to a Kelly Clarkson song of all artists, satisfied my 2006 Step Up obsession, and she dances in this show, a lot. The show features a lot of cool mash ups, and includes songs from Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Duffy, Demi Lovato to so many different genres and I will be rewatching the dance sequences a lot. I was really looking forward to seeing Marcia Cross when I noticed this title was added to her filmography on IMDB, but she only lends her voice to a character that’s a supporting’s character’s mother and only has one short conversation with that character, over the phone.

There’s going to be a similar show starting next month, called Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist starring Jane Levy and Lauren Graham, that I just cannot wait to start watching.

‘Every song is a love song’.

‘This is breathtaking, why would you ever give this up?’

44. The Politician

You know I’ll watch anything from the Murphy/Falchuk duo. It’s an average show, my least favourite from them, even lower on my list than Scream Queens. I don’t like how they used a porodied version of Gypsy Blanchard’s story in the show. We’ve seen in in The Act this year and The Act is not only an incredible mini series, but it’s also respectful and true to the story. The Politician’s secret weapon is, same as with American Horror Story, the marvelous Jessica Lange, so you know I’m gonna watch it. Speaking of the Murphy/Falchuk universe, I cannot believe we need to wait until September 2020 for American Crime Story to return.

45. The Act

A beautiful mini series about the tragic Gypsy Blanchard story with incredible performances from Joey King and Patricia Arquette. It’s my second favourite mini series of the year and eagerly waited for next episode every week.

46. The Morning Show

This Apple show starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston focuses on a made up news show, and the behind the scenes sexual harassment. It’s clearly inspired by the Fox scandal, but it’s different from The Loudest Voice. In the last episode Jennifer’s character loses it and exposes everything, it’s a superb episode I’m happy there’s going to be season 2.

47. The Society

A modern Lord of the Flies meets Lost. I enjoyed this show the minute Kathryn Newton’s character executed one of the other characters.

48. Light as a Feather

I have been following Liana Liberato’s career since ‘Trust’. It’s not a good series, but it’s eight 20 minute episodes, and there are worse ways to spend your weekend.

49. Grace and Frankie

A brilliant show from the creators of Friends. I’ve been watching it since it came out back in 2016 and can’t get enough of it! Can’t wait for January when the show’s back!

50. The Loudest Voice

No way Bombshell is going to be half this good. Best friends Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts ended up playing the same character this year, Gretchen Carlson. Showtime’s The Loudest Voice is a 7 episode series about the Fox News sexual harassment.

Shows I need to catch up on (to some extent):

How to Get Away With Murder
Killing Eve
This is Us
Riverdale
Absentia
The Good Fight
Gentleman Jack
I Am the Night

I think Hollywood Darlings has been cancelled? There’s no news online, but there were no episodes released this year and Jodie Sweetin is now doing this podcast I don’t listen to.

I hope you enjoyed this post. One of my resolutions for 2020 is to go back to reviewing TV shows on a weekly basis, because I’ve caught myself a few times trying to remember the episode something happened in and had to google it every time. Had I stuck to reviewing episodes week by week, I would have quickly looked it up here.

Have a wonderful 2020!
Jo

Yet another year is coming to an end. It was a year rich in TV Shows. The below is a list of shows I followed and cared about this year. I haven’t done weekly episode reviews all year, so below is a little sum up of what I thought of each show. There were honestly so many of them, I just couldn’t find time for weekly posts. These are the 41 shows I followed in 2018.

  1. Greys

I miss Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew. No bigger mistake has ever been made on Greys than writers getting rid of Arizona. I am happy Geena Davis’s character came back for her and offered her a job. They brought one of my favorite characters, Teddy, back just to ruin her life. New season welcomed Chris McCormick, Nashville alum and the first half of the season entirely revolved around Meredith’s love life.

  1. SVU

I honestly hope SVU never ends, because these cases will never lose its importance and I will gladly follow Mariska chasing rapists in her 60s and 70s.

  1. Shameless

This season wasn’t shameless at all. Carl’s wife was annoying, but I cannot believe they killed her off and no one is bothered. I’m glad they brought Courteney Cox for an episode, and Peggy Bundy for a few. I really hope Katey Segal is coming back in January. Speaking of the Bundys, I feel like watching some Married with Children reruns.

  1. Fuller House

Netflix made us wait a full year for season 4 and then they didn’t promote the show at all. I didn’t even get an email notification about new episodes being up. I love everything the Fuller-Tanner-Gibbler family does. I love all their games and special events. I will never be a parent, but it’s my dream to be DJ Tanner and organise all these fun events and days out with people I love. I love how DJ is always on her 100 percent, a perfectionist, always nicely dressed and ready for an adventure. It’s exactly how my mom is, I could never wear makeup and nice clothes every day, especially on my days off. Maybe it has something to do with being a parent or actually being around people.

  1. The Middle

One of my favorite family shows ended, but it looks like Eden Sher has been given a spin-off. I hope they get Patricia Heaton to visit her a lot.

  1. American Horror Story

I liked this season, but then again I will always be happy with this show as long as Sarah Paulson is still doing it.

  1. The Goldbergs

Speaking of spin offs, The Goldbergs is getting one, Schooled will premiere next year and it will revolve around Lanie. I was not happy that they recast Adam’s girlfriend, instead of getting him a new one. I hope Barry and Lanie do get married.

  1. How to Get Away with Murder

I hated season 4, because it revolved around Laurel and her messed up family, that did not bring anything to the storyline, but season 5 focuses on Bonnie and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.

  1. Sharp Objects

Incredible series about self-harm based on an amazing book. It’s rarely ever that self-harm addiction is shown that realistically. Sharp Objects is one of the most relatable things I’ve come across and I wish this series was around when I was fifteen. It also has a jaw dropping twist in the very last 5 seconds.

  1. Killing Eve

My dad cannot stop saying that Cristina Yang lied to us when she said she’s moving to Switzerland, and moved to London to join MI5 instead. This series starring Thirteen’s Jodie Colmer is a ‘killer’.

  1. Ozark

A money laundering show starring Laura Linney, yes please! My dad loves this show.

  1. Good Girls

Another show my dad loved. And It’s about money laundering as well. I never cared much for Mad Men, I liked it, but it was too ‘manly’ for me, but Christina Hendricks is amazing in this and Mae Whitman also stars.

  1. Thirteen Reasons Why

Say what you want, this season was almost as good as the first one, and it wasn’t too explicit. I’m not sure where I stand on how they ended this season, but I do agree that the shooting would have been too traumatizing for teenagers. I didn’t like that Hannah had a boyfriend prior to what happened in the bath tub in season one. They portrayed her as this innocent, never-had-a-boyfriend type in season one and then they ruined it in season two. Clay was supposed to be the only person that loved her, and there was someone else. I liked her boyfriend though, and I got used to the relationship, and thought it was cute by the end, so I guess it evens itself out.

  1. This is Us

In a way I lost interest the minute we learned how Jack died. It was quite brutal and I honestly don’t think there’s anything else there left to tell. I loved how they showed Tess and what she ends up doing with her life in the future.

  1. 911

Can Connie just relax and stick to one show? I loved her on Nashville and Friday Night Lights, and AHS Murder House as well, so I was happy when she joined 911, starring opposite Parenthood and Six Feet Under’s Peter Krause. I am not enjoying this season as much, but the first one was amazing.

  1. The Resident

Revenge, Brothers and Sisters and Everwood’s Emily VanCamp stars next to Gilmore Girls and The Good Wife’s Matt Chuchry in this medical drama. I am disappointed that many of the cases look like they were copied straight off Grey’s Anatomy. In season one Emily’s character Nick, was trying to bring an abusive doctor down, season 2 lacks this leading plot. Jenna Dewan joined the cast and every time I see her on the screen, my mind authomatically goes to Step Up.

  1. Crikey it’s the Irwins

I just love this show. I have followed the Irwins since late 90s, back when Crocodile Hunter was on TV. Steve Irwin’s death broke my heart. The Irwins live in Steve’s dad’s Australia Zoo and continue his legacy as wildlife conservationists.

  1. When Calls the Heart

What a year it was for the Hearties. Daniel Lissing has been absent through most of season 5 and then quit altogether, so they had to kill him off. The winter episode didn’t lack the usual sweetness of the show, but It wasn’t as good as previous episodes.

  1. Modern Family

Everything after season 3 has been mediocre, but I’m still sticking with it.

  1. For the People

I have been following Britt Robertson’s career for 8 years now, while Girlboss wasn’t her big break, neither will this be. I still love this Shondaland show and can’t wait for season 2.

  1. Scandal

I just hated what happened to David, it ruined the series for me.

  1. Riverdale

Season one was amazing, season two was average, but ended well, and I really hope season 3 will have an actual killer, and it will not go all supernatural on us. I like the darker, illuminati vibe, but now that we’ve seen Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, we don’t need it anymore.

  1. The Simpsons

I honestly hope The Simpsons has 60 seasons, I love the school and family episodes, and hate all the sci-fi. I wish they only stuck to those.

  1. The Good Fight

Season 2 was all over the place, are we even getting a third season?

  1. The Good Place

Everyone seems to be loving this show and I find it average and haven’t even been following this season.

  1. The Good Doctor

Same as with The Resident, we’ve seen all this on Greys and some cases are coincidentaly similiar. I haven’t caught up with season two yet.

  1. Hollywood Darlings

It’s fun, but I don’t think it’ll be getting a third season. You never know though, as they’ve added it on Netflix earlier this month.

  1. F For Family

Not as good as previous seasons, but it’s still a nice way to spend 6 hours.

  1. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I do like the darker bits and Miranda Otto’s character.

30. Nashville

I miss it already, sadly it was never the same after Connie left. Lennon Stella now has a music career, and I still wish the Stella sisters continued as a duo.

31. Station 19

I love this one, it’s not brilliant, but I have the exact stable opinion on it every single week.

32. Younger

I loved Sex and the city and it’s been 20 years that I’ve wanted to live in New York, so it’s always a blast to see a little more of city life, even though it’s clearly gone to poop. I still like the same characters and hate the ones I hated in season 1. I am so happy about Liza and Charles, they should be together.

33. The Handmaid’s Tale

I liked the first season more.

34. One Day At a Time

I love this show, Elena’s story is amazing and I love all characters.

35. The Insatiable

This Netflix comedy staring Jessie’s Debby Ryan was a bit psycho, but I liked it anyway.

36. Divorce

The Sarah Jessica Parker comedy. It’s funny and I’m waiting for season 3.

37. Absentia

Stana Katic centred show about a cop that gets kidnapped, is stuck in a fish bowl and is waterboarded. All leads to a childhood mystery and It will be back for season 2.

38. Orange is the New Black

I just love this show and have followed it since day 1. I’m not that said about Daya’s punishment, but It’s awful what they’ve done to Red and Tasha.

39. Schooled

A spin off of The Goldbergs. Lanie abandoned her rock star dreams and become a high school teacher.

40. Grace and Frankie

I just love this show, and was scared it ended when Grace and Frankie were sent away to a retirement home at the end of last.

41. Light as a Feather

Girls play Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board and fall victims of a curse, as something wicked attaches itself to the spine of one.

Shameless 7.11

Mickey made it to Mexico, but without Ian. Debbie signed up for junior college to study welding. And Monica died.

The naked wedding.
It was beautiful.
Yeah, if you’re a pedophile.
Drinking turns the volume down. Makes the world more tolerable.
Sing fucking Taylor Swift, I don’t care. Get out of the fucking car.
Kev, you misspelled the word resume on your resume.
They help you rip off movies.
I forgive you for promising me to that drug dinner.
Your old lady’s downstairs, eating cat food.

The Middle 8.07

But your mom is my lady.
First, she’d have to explain what audacity means.
Everyone there was dark and tense.
You may not be deep or dark, but the world is already full of darkness.
It’s not you that wasn’t ready for New York, it was New York that wasn’t ready for you.

The Middle 8.09

Now I’ll just have to be a bridesmaid for Cindy and wear a formal dress and a Safari hat. I’ve researched grounds for marriage annulment in the state of Indiana. There’s not being of age, suspicion of fraud, if one or both parties are mentally unstable.
Bingo.
That one.

Shut Eye 1.01

Kadee Strickland is wonderful in it!

Got a guy who owes me, fuck that, he’s the guy.
God came to the gypsy guy and told him that his theft had saved Jesus from the nail in the heart. To repay him, God gave the gypsies the right to steal.
Cause they’re bitches. Bitches are assholes.
I’m done being someone’s bitch.

This is Us 1.02

The eating disorder plot of the show is what keeps it all special.  Castle’s Esposito married his best friend’s wife, played by Mandy Moore’s character. At this point we don’t know where Jess from Gilmore Girls is.

They call him Webster, you know that show where white family adopts a black baby?
I love that show!
Can we spend one fat-free night?
Man, I only ate fruit today.
I wasn’t a good brother, was I?
It’s okay, you still have time.
Randall is not free of vice, his vice is his goodness.
It’s his compulsive drive to be perfect.
It’s always gonna be about the weight. Even when I’m not thinking about it, I’m thinking about it. Will this chair hold me, will this dress fit me. It’s just at the core of who I am, deep inside.
This dress fits you in all the right places.
This old thing? I just threw it on. I didn’t even think about it.

10/10

This is Us 1.03

We should give him a new name.

Children are just heartless, and I absolutely adored Milo’s reaction.

I was so nervous I started doing a British accent in the middle of it.
We don’t want you to play with us anymore. You embarrass us.
I almost drowned, do you even care? You’re so busy making sure that Kate isn’t eating too much and Randall is not too adopted and where’s Kevin? Oh wait, he’s dead.
Do you think my son could play with your son sometime after school?
So you stalked her like a serial killer.
Do you want to be with a skinny person?
All of your life you’ve been fat.
I gained 90 pounds the year after she left.
I did consider suicide, a lot.
I had this little notebook and every time I met a black person, I would put a mark in this notebook.
The fact that my daughter doesn’t find anything weird about her playing a snow white, that’s the whole idea.
He’s my biological father.

10/10

This is Us 1.05

Milo’s character is dead?

When I get a script, the first thing I do is paint.
Our dad is not with us, he’s not alive anymore, but he’s with us, he’s with me every day. It’s just us.

I watched season 1 of Damages, it was so long and boring, I decided to quit when the main murder got resolved as the result was just disappointing.

How did you like Fuller House? Wasn’t season 2 so good? Kimmy stole the spotlight yet again. There has to be a third season.

Shameless 7.10

There’s something about this season that makes it not so enjoyable. They’re not pulling enough ‘shameless’ fast ones. Sure Frank slept with Fiona’s elderly friend with dementia. Debbie did beg on the street and Monica did take a baseball bat to the other grandparents house, but what about Ian and Lip? Lip kept proving everyone he’s Frank’s son, Carl disappeared off to military school (wtf he was just in juvie last season) and Ian was the only one who had his shit together and dates a nice transgender man. Fiona’s storyline is boring, Frank’s too, Kev and Vi’s is just plain awful. Why did they move this season 4 months up only to give us this disappointment. Where the fuck is Sheila, we need her.

Mickey is back and he is heading to Mexico. Oh yeah and Monica is back too. I rememeber her having that meth selling boyfriend last season but what the f happened to her lesbian lover? Frank and Monica rob a Bingo bus and try to rob a bank too. They writers made it look that Lip’s teacher is responsible for his drinking problem as he ended up drunkinly breaking into her home. Despite all this craziness, Ian said something right on point.

I’m nuts. Mickey’s fucking nuts.
I’m on CTP. Colored people time.
Love is raw and destructive.
Milkoviches? I think one of them robbed us back in the 80s. If the cops pick up the Milkoviches, tell them we want our VCR back.
Am I stupid?
Fuck her, you’re a sweetheart.
That OJ lawyer is already dead.
Have you thought what would have happened if you ran off with Jimmy/Steve?
Lying sociopath Jimmy Steve? My life would be a non-stop psycho thriller.
What of nothing ever gives you the same thrill again?
You turned your life around. Mickey would set a match to it. You’ve done really great without him and I’m really fucking proud of you.
Lip, you broke into my home. Jesus, Lip, you’ve got to move one, please. Get some help.

The Middle 8.08

The rating for The Middle are not the best this season, but It’s still well in the 6mln. Axl and April got married…for one episode. First average episode in ages.

And that weird one that reads.
That one’s mine.

3.5/10

The Goldbergs 4.09

I feel like they have ran out of ideas. The whole season is a snoozeville. Here, Murray has his Birthday and he sleeps through the surprise birthday party Bev threw him. Adam and Big Tasty have a quarell, after Adam starts getting into basketball.

Before you get mad, you should lay down on those coats It’s amazing.
Which baby is this?
The moron.
Wow, these receipts really mean a lot to you.
I  should be in the moment more.
If you start liking basketball, then who am I?

3.5/10

The Goldbergs 4.10

At least we got to hear Hayley Orrantia sing, and she has such a wonderful voice. Love Sick is definitely my most played song in 2016, and I love Unitil Then and Strong and Southern and Silence You and I am waiting for Hayley’s EP.

What am I watching?
The duck is gonna make it with that lady, what have you brought us to?!
A lady and a duck in bed. Who the fuck thought this was a good idea?!
You replaced my favorite posters.
That’s my baby!

3.5/10

Scream Queens 2.07

I saw the ratings and there is no way this show is not getting cancelled after next week’s season finale. Season one was fresh and exciting, and despite being badly written, it kept you occupied after just finishing a new episode of SVU. Season 2 on the other hand? Nothing makes sense, the killer got revealed halfway through, it has so many unnecessary characters, they’re killing off all the original characters and oh boy it just sucks. Grandfathered’s ratings last year were twice as good and the show got canceled. Scream Queens only had 2 million followers per episode, but most likely Fox didn’t cancel it because they wanted to keep Jamie Lee Curtis in the family.

He’s a psychopath and his most likely profession a serial killer.
Most Americans use the same password for everything.
His password is I went to Harvard.
I’m gonna put you on an antiobesity drug called Orlistat.
I’m pretty sure I just saw Hester, yeah, from the Netflix documentary. The head nurse is obviously a drug addict and Cathy Much thinks she’s a doctor.

Scream Queens 2.08

We learned that Grace has been locked up in a mental institution this whole time.

Emma Roberts Snapchatting during sex with Uncle Jesse, oh lord. We all know at least one person who does it and it’s just unappropriate, but here, entertaining.
Are you texting?
Snapchatting.
Snapchatting?
I don’t know maybe take sex classes?
I’ll just lay here listening to Spotify.
During that Katy Perry/Taylor Swift feud, she sided with Katy!
Not when my daughter was locked ypo in a mental insitution because o fwhat they did to her.
You said she went to Stanford.
Stanford Mental Asylum.
How come they get to be doctors while my little Grace gets locked up.

4/10

Scream Queens 2.09

Brooke Shields guest stars just to get poisoned and give the Channels her TV Show.

I don’t want to die in this outfit!
We want to be TV doctors, not real doctors.
I don’t give a rat’s ass about that cow Number 3.
You have 8 hours to complete the exam.
I think the answer is B, better luck next time!
I am  a genius and no one cares.
Damn it, number 5, shut up!
Where’s number 5.
I don’t know, probbaly taking a huge nervous dump somewhere.
We’re not surprised she got poisones. It was probably one of the PAs she fired for farting.
Di you just offer us our own show?
I’ll be dead in a month.

Younger 3.11

Liza and Charles almost hook up and this is how it should be! I wish she just told him the truth right there.

We need to tweet, instagram and Snapchat our asses off this weekend!
Liza, I know you’re 40.
Either you publish my book, or I’ll publish your story.
Advice from her?
No, advice from her dog.
Just put 10 people in a tight corner , take a picture and this party will look crowded too..
My babysitter got me into them.
I like you.

5/10

Younger 3.12

Liza told Kelsey the truth! I didn’t like how or where it happened, but it’s okay. I guess if Josh found out at the end of season 2, Kelsey at the end of season 3, then Charles will when season 4 ends. I hope season 4 starts in early spring.

I’m sure you know how fond I am of you.
They say life starts when you’re 40.
You didn’t consider me at all!
No restrictions, no pressure. This is you. The real you.
What will make you happy?
Losing weight.
What will make you happy?
A divorce!
I just want my wofe back.
Just call her.
You’re a liar and a cheater. Your lies are hurting everyone around you.
This is my daughter, she’s in college. And ‘m not 26. I will be 41 in a couple of weeks.
I don’t undrstand.
Then let me explain.

10/10

The Simpsons 28.09

This episode was a blur. I don’t remember much of it, except for Homer getting injured at work after Mr. Burns throws him down his chute.

SueSA.
How could I have forgotten to sue Mr. Burnes?

4/10

The Simpsons 28.10

Oh boy, at least Maggie kicked some elf’s ass.

Divorce 1.10

Robert called cops on Frances! The only good thing about this episode. The daughter is hit by a car and no one even tries to tell the son not to blame himself, they just chat about it among themselves. This is what’s wrong with the show.

Today I realized the true reason why I’ve been so depressed this past year. And that is, I haven’t done anything creative the whole year long. I used to be that type of person who wrote screenplays on a weekly basis, and drew and painted in the meantime. This past year I became more and more of a ‘watcher’. Even though I haven’t necessarily watched more than I usually do. It didn’t bother me that people got their internships, went on to pursue Mas, it didn’t bother me at all. Because I never wanted them in the first place. And then I heard about this person I know getting a publishing internship in NY. Jealousy did not wait long. Publishing is not a path I want to take, but I realized, that even though I cannot psychically pursue my dreams at this moment, I still need to build a writing portfolio I’d be proud of. That, of course, won’t stop me from writing on here and reviewing everything. Okay, onto the post.

Shameless 7.05

Frank receives a surprising donation, whereas the Gallaghers face a broken washing machine (yes, the one Jimmy gave them). Carl is actually going through with his military school application, which reminded me of the good old days when Ian wanted to join the army. Fiona plans to buy a washing joint. Debbie asks Frank for help in getting quick money and ends up fighting with a homeless woman over a corner. Child protective services are not happy with that. Debbie meets a disabled 23 year old with money and a house. Overall, a really good episode.

I have a military school interview. I can’t go in there smelling like one of Frank’s homeless.
Spelling deficiency is good for the cause.
I’m gonna be stuck in this hood forever.
Even the homeless get better stuff than us.

How To Get Away with Murder 3.07

A mother poisons herself with antifreeze, to teach her kids respect. Annalise lets the main 5 tell her what they really think of her.

This is a woman who read my diary to employees at the stuff meeting.
I just think better when I drink.
You need to drop her and represent us!
That was a lie. Eve moved to San Francisco, I haven’t spoken to her in weeks.
Mean, alcoholic…
A few more weeks of not drinking and they can add fat-ass to their list.
A policy that allowed you to read your daughter’s emails.

How To Get Away With Murder 3.08

Wes lies on the stand and Annalise tells Frank to shoot himself.

Look me in the eye and say it’s not you.
I’ll find out who it is.
Tell that bastard that if he ever comes near this house, I’ll shoot him.
Annalise needs your help.
You will probably go on a killing spree and bang on top of a corpse.
She’s the one who gave Frank the money. She took your son from you, Annalise.
Something bad is always about to happen in this house.
If I pick up the phone, she’s gonna ask me for money or to give legal advice to some methy cousin I never even knew I had.
No more blood. Promise me, Frank.
Go back inside, you were right, this is what she needs.
You let your husband beat it out of you.
Is that what your husband did?
Lots of men.
I never got better! You watched me suffer all those years! You watched me think that I killed my boy. You killed my son.
What’s taking you so long? Think I’m gonna feel guilty? Cause I won’t.
Frank, don’t!
Get out!

American Horror Story 6.08

I just realized this season only has 10 episodes. What a shame. Yes, it is a disastrous season and they seem to be replaying the same scenes over and over, but AHS is exciting and it rarely ever has weaker episodes. How about this episode, huh? Tell me Sarah Paulson thanking her fans and apologizing for dying, as she had so many wonderful performances left for her fans wasn’t the best thing you’ve seen this entire season.

I’m not getting killed off of some damn TV Show.
She flipped out when she saw Matt having sex with that thing.
Conveniently for you, we can’t ask them.
I had so many wonderful performances for you. I promise you. I will love you always.

3.5/10

The Good Place 1.09

For some reason this episode made me want to rewatch Veronica Mars. Four episodes down, three seasons to go.

The nice boring one is yours, the trash bag is ours.
I truly believe that the good place is where you belong.
I don’t belong here, but I want to.
We’re not letting Fake Eleonor go.

4/10

Divorce 1.01

A show I’m still not fully sure of, but I do like the husband, so I may just keep watching. I absolutely adored the Sandra Bullock reference!

Obviously trying to shoot him, didn’t help.
You’re Jessie James and I’m Sandra Bullock. I get to rise from the ashes and win a fucking Academy Award!

4.5/10

Divorce 1.02

Seems hypocritical to ask for a divorce, when you’re the one cheating. The husband found out about wife’s affair. The show seems funny so far.

I’m not completely convinced it’s the same dog, but let’s move on.

4/10

Divorce 1.03

Best episode yet! Especially liked the part when the husband went to a house viewing and pretended to be a buyer and when he couldn’t get over the shock of how many times his wife slept with this Kiwi guy (and he’s still convinced he’s French). He also lied about helping 9/11 responders, because he thought the shops would be the next target.

Whoever did this place did a fucking good job! Are you gonna make and offer? Are you a real estate agent? I’d like to make an offer!
32.
What the fuck!?
What was the number you had in your head?
Two.
Doesn’t it sound like they did a shitload of fucking? It sounds like they did a shitload of fucking to me.
Making the fuck with French pendacho.
He had an emotional affair with her.
It wasn’t an affair. We didn’t fuck!
You had rushed down to ground zero to deliver water to first responders.
Oh fuck it, I didn’t take any water to anybody.

8/10

Divorce 1.04

Robert wants to make a indoors playground for kids and call it a happy place, which sounds like a great place for pedophiles to pick their victims.

Bonjour, fuck face.
It’d be a real pedophile magnet. It’s exactly where I would hang out if I was turned on by kids.

Quick, tiny post, in between flu medicine. I’ve decided not to continue watching Secrets and Lies, I only watched the opening episode of this season. I really started having mixed feelings for The Good Place after the main character was supposed to get sent back as the ‘hell people’ were extremely annoying. I’m still not sure about Divorce either. Come back tomorrow for a detailed post on that one-scene theatrical Greys, that quite shocking new AHS and many others.

The Middle 8.04

Frankie buys underwear that reads ‘I’d hit that’ after which she admits she’s been an inactive member of a local gym for 22 years. Oh man, I get that. While everyone is snapchatting from their gyms, I sit at home and try to cool off after an annoying second job I just took. I had to cut my hours in my old one, and that part time job feels like a full time, because it’s physically wrenching and I haven’t had the energy to go to the gym since September. Sure, I also moved much further away, and paying 10.99 just didn’t seem like a good idea. Back to the show, Frankie falls on the treadmill and everyone sees her ‘I’d hit that’ underwear. Troy gets on the football team, because he’s big. I don’t know how is it legal for Sue and Lexie to get that dorm room. It has to be a Health and Safety violation and the girls should have sued the school. I know most college rooms are shitty, but not that shitty. Speaking of Sue, a pizza delivery guy pronounces her names as ‘Hack’ instead of Heck. Meanwhile, Brick realizes how hard it is to pretend to be a social guy and actually have a high school experience. Let me tell you, I was exactly like Brick when I was in junior high and high school, sure I had better social skills than Brick, but It all seemed like a ton of work. No one was as into TV shows and good films as I was and to be honest, I do have two friends from those years and all the new people interested in TV and cinema I’ve met didn’t exactly ‘stay’ in my life, if you know what I mean. Even though film was my major, all the friendships ended after university. I guess it’s true what they say, we do meet our best friends in high school. And that though is scary. I guess the lesson here is try to be sociable, I know it seems like a waste of time and you don’t want to inhale all that smoke fumes, but maybe all those sociable folks are onto something. And you are definitely left out.

Woah, what a pit.
Who me?
What’s your name?
Brick Heck.
Again, not you.
I’d hit that.
If you need reading glasses to see the underwear you should probably just go straight to diapers.
Fine, right down the sport words, I’ll try to ask.
You should come.
Should I have my parents call his parents?
I don’t think high school works that way.
I’ve been an inactive member of a ladies gym going 22 years now.
I’ll have as much cereal as I want.
I have a pizza for Sue Hack.
Start packing, cause we are leaving this dump.
You hold your own pee bottle.
It was just exhausting. All I could thing about was how ling till I could leave.
Did you make your list of five favorite fonts?

10/10

Shameless 7.04

Anyone else not really digging Frank’s new family? And the whole homeless shelter storyline? Definitely the weakest episode of the season.

They’ll be good earners someday.
Those scumbags fucked with the wrong emperor.
We’ll do our drugs and beat each other up in doors.
In my country, you insult someone’s father, you get sent on a ranch to fuck a horse.
Why am I the only one in the family, you haven’t offered the job to?

6.5/10

How to Get Away with Murder 3.06

Gosh, this season am I right? So bad it hurts. Why can’t all the episodes be about Frank beating up Bonnie’s dad or Annalise and Eve? Going home in an hour to watch yesterday’s episode, but I wasn’t very interested in it yesterday. We learn Asher is alive, so at this point the dead man could either be Wes, Connor or Frank, or maybe Nate, but doubt it. Annalise is eating chips in the bathroom.

You take another step and I’ll chain you in the basement like Rebecca.
You’ve no idea what goes on in this house.
You spread your legs for him too?
You’re ready to fail, like your dad’s condom.
Well, court is unpredictable. Sit down.
I took you off the waitlist, I should have left you alone.
I wanted to be a better person.

9.5/10

The Goldbergs 4.06

One of the best episodes I’ve seen this fall.

His acting gets slightly better in every movie.
Arnold says 6 lines in this movie and your dad talked over every one.
He’s not from Austria like Arnold or Belgium like a Van Damme or wherever Segal is from.
He’s clearly having some sort of an episode, get everything you can.
Just take my 80 bucks.
Dear Lord, this is a big budget movie! I’m making a big budget movie!
Mommy remember that one time I lived in your tummy?
I just had to capture the moment, so I can remember it forever.
It’s just a store.
Not to me, I’ve had my best memories there. Just think of all the coupons I’ve doubled there, all the managers I’ve made cry, all the clothes I’ve worn for a decade and then returned no questions asked.
It looks cheap as hell. It’s all dark and hard to see. The camera shakes like crazy. Also, it sounds like crap. Like a washed out crammy public access show that’s on at midnight.
Here’s the stuff, make it good.
All this time I’ve had access to high-tech Hollywood film equipment and you’ve never told me.
Surprise, anger, surprise, anger, and most important. Love scene.
Please don’t show us love scene.
What’s the one thing you love the most about going shopping with me?
Nodding yes or no as you try on outfits, like they do in movies.
Oh fuck no, what kind of a store doesn’t have tuna. I will find tuna. give me fucking tuna.
And the Oscar for best actor goes to Barry Norman Goldberg.
Lots of other actors would say thank you, I’m saying, you’re welcome.
This film will be my calling card and it will make Jamie Lee Curtis notice me.
My sweaters, my glorious sweaters!
This is my mum’s, all of these are!
And if Gambles wasn’t going out of business before, they sure would have after my mom and sister were done there.

I just realized that most of the shows will go on their Christmas hiatus in two or three weeks, so I better catch up with my reviews. Posting a few today and then I’m off to watch new Greys. Expect a massive post tomorrow.

Shameless 7.02

Shameless was just added on Netflix UK! In the newest episode Frank disinherits the whole family and all of the kids are actually relieved. Also, Frank washing himself up in the toilet.

I’m filling out the paperwork to disinherit you, abortion should have beens.
I’m chaning her name to Harriet. Harry.
That’s a perfect name for the diesel dyke she’s going to grow up to some day.
Tough titties.
I’m the only woman of color and I’ll sue your ass.
Excuse me, I saw your help wanted sign?
Hey Olga, you’re fired.
Don’t be corrupting my son with your interracial bisexual funny business.
That’s okay. You don’t have to go to college.

10/10

Shameless 7.03

Frank found himself a new family. Debbie continues to steal. Fiona has an amazing monologue on how she still can make something of herself after she inspired by a millionaire high school dropout.

Welcome, new Gallaghers.
He sold her into sex slavery.
I got some money. I took it from teacher’s purse.
That’s the new Fiona.
You’d call the cops?! What kind of a Gallagher are you?
She’s retarded.
Who gave you the right to occupy these premises?
Statue of Liberty when she said come the homeless and Jesus Christ when he washed the feet of the homeless and gave them wine.
Are those Greek letters on this motherfucking house?
I am just as likely as anyone else in this family to make something of myself and it’s about time you got that you arrogant shit.

9/10

The Goldbergs 4.05

Beverly summing up exactly what the show is about had me in tears! Unfortunately, the episode itself wasn’t too good.

You spread the rumor of me dating the lunch lady!
I’m his muse?
Actually, Stephen King is his muse.
You were there for me. If that’s being a Barry, I’m okay with it.
You keep writing about me, about this family. It may not all be true, but it’s pretty damn good.
Turns out the best stories are the one that come from home.

3/10

American Horror Story 6.06

I am never more excited than when it comes to murder. What a bloody episode. Best this season, and unfortunately the last good one as well. I absolutely loved the ‘Blair Witch’ warning in the middle. What did you guys think of Sarah’s British accent? I thought she’s doing a great job, especially compering to Evan’s really bad one a few episodes ago. I loved that Kathy Bates’s character went full on ‘Mysery’ and killed some. Also, OJ Simpson and Martha being friends in this episode made me so damn happy. I know every teenager everywhere plus one of my good friends are mourning Evan’s character, but he played just really shitty this season and his character was unnecessary in the first place.

If they look out the window and see trailers parked in the fucking yard.
You became obsessed.
You’re not on the show. You’re never gonna be on the show again.
We only want real people this year.
I’m a real person.
You’re unstable.
Do you think the restraining order will keep her away?
God, I hope not.
I have no interest in finding out who that is.
Was that Agnes?
She’s here to steal my Saturn!
Your car?
No, my Saturn award!
Over the next three days during the Blood Moon, every participant in this series died under mysterious circumstances. Except for one.
The show planned by the producers never aired . This is the assembled found footage.
Hi, girl.
Hi, Dominic. When did you get here?
Fuck you, Sidney.

Younger 3.04

I know Younger is from the Sex and the City creator, but it annoys me how sex centered the show is getting. This shitty episode fo example was all about period sex.

I’m recommending we cut stuff by 45 % next quarter. Not you. Just the old people, like Diana.

1/10

Younger 3.05

New lingo, what not to say anymore. At least we got rid of the stupid millionaire kid. And email will never go out of style. It’s just too good. And we all know Snapchat etc. will die just like Vine and so many others are.

I think there is a way to view private. I think it’s called stalk-book. I’ll check it out.Oh you can put my finger on it.
No, I don’t have Google alerts, maybe my assistant should set it up.

Scream Queens 2.04

Loved the SVU reference, but other than that it was a really bad episode. At least all the annoying characters are getting killed off.

Where I come from sad and skinny 20 something’s feelings are more important than some stupid documents!
These are their stories.
You stupid hobo.
That’s because you insist of Snapchatting during sex.

3.5/10

The Good Place 1.06

All the Friends references!

Sicko, freako, creepo, George Washington.
Is it that movie where Laura Linney cries in a lake house, because Jude Law left her for his ex wife’s ghost?
Like if your uber driver talks to you, the ride should be free?
I even watched all 10 seasons of the show called Friends. How did they afford that apartment? A waitress and a chef with those Manhattan real estate prices?
Since we’re becoming friends like Ross and Phoebe.
We’re combo but okay.
Unlike Ross when he promised Emily not to talk to Rachel.
I feel like Friends in season 8, out of ideas and forcing Joey and Rachel together even though it made no sense.

4.5/10

The Good Place 1.07

Only the very ending made sense.

Michael, the problem in the neighborhood is me. I was brought to The Good Place by mistake.

Our shows are back! What do you guys think about the new fall shows? I hated Notorious, I watched two episodes and it may be one of the most boring TV shows ever made. I think I’ll just stick with The Good Place. And I still need to see This is Us and The Exorcist!

Greys 13.01

I hated this opening episode with every fiber of my being. Karev beat DeLuca up, and was that eye injury really necessary?

2/10

Greys 13.02

Didn’t they close the Denny Duquette clinic back in season 6? When did it get reopened?

Felony in the second degree.
How do you plead, Dr Karev?
Not guilty.
Which parent is ready to hear that yes, your toddler i dead, but here’s a bill for quarter million dollars anyway.
Do you have a decent lawyer, do you need help?
You got along at the wedding.
It was a wedding, I had tequila.
She named her tumor after her ex husband’s mistress.
I was attacked, I remember.
I think I might have just threatened DeLucaa
Who is Mrs Petercan?
She doesn’t know that you’re madly in love with me.
What hear about you threatening DeLuca?
Where is Dr Alex? I want Dr Alex.
You were the big surprise. You were most improved. The person who beat up DeLuca is a person I thought you left a long time ago.
The Denny Duquette clinic?
We walked through doors as interns, we’re thrown into the deep end together, told to save lives together, to save each other, we become family.
I slept with Riggs.

Greys 13.03

What is happening to Greys?! Yawn, yawn, yawn. And why did they show us the eye surgery again? Other than that, Ben was just his perfect self yesterday. And Tucker Jones is so grown up! He looks 12 already!

Edit

After rewatching the episode, I realized it was actually really good.

It sucks but I’m fine.
Welcome back, Robbins.
Morgue. There’s not much emergencies in that job.
Excuse me?
You’re the boss.
I am a big chunk of this hospital, so technically I am.
I don’t want to go to jail.
That’s the guy you trained and raised or whatever.

SVU 18.01

I was running on reruns and holding on to the last straw. Season 18 started off with an intense Central Park scene, where Liv had to calm down a little child who pointed a gun at her and her son Noah. What a season opener. The episode went more into a terrorism side, than what the show is all about, but Olivia didn’t give in and did everything she could to help the abused Muslim woman. SVU covered recent mass shootings, while staging a Central Park shooting. Throughout the whole episode she had a lovely ‘fed up with perps’ attitude and Mariska was an absolute scene stealer. Here are some quotes I loved, you know the drill.

I am in the park with Noah.
I found him in Central Park, he had a gun.
Rita, you’re representing terrorists now.
Hell of a ride to get on.
She was raped and tortured by him and his brother.
Your job cost my son his life.
Rape or no rape she is a killer.
I am going to investigate a case that everyone wants me to ignore.
Unless you had in vitro, you had sex.
She asked you a question.
I want a lawyer.
Okay. (the way Mariska said ‘okay’)
I believe her and so does she.

9.5/10

SVU 18.02

A teenager was obsessed with Amanda and lied to please her and Amanda said it was not her fault he has a crush on her and that was the best part of the episode. A man rapes the only daughter of a woman who accused him of raping her years ago as the prison ‘made him a rapist’.

The girl was raped, beaten and stabbed.
She was pretty, like you.
Plus Detective Rollins…
I know she’s an attractive woman.
Detective Rollins flirted with you.
It’s not my fault he has a crush on me.
I was raped in prison all the time.

5/10

Shameless 7.01

Woah, season 7, what are you doing? I disliked most of the episode for the first time in the history of watching this show! It started off okay and then it got…boring! I didn’t know nurses had to wash coma patient’s genitalia, so thanks for that Shameless. I’ll tell repeat that to my best friend who’s finishing nursing school now. Another reason not to go into medicine. And I hated that Carl’s girlfriend practically bullied him into having a circumscription at 15, what the fuck. Not everyone is a jew, you know? The only thing I liked about this was that Lip will work at Fiona’s diner and I really enjoyed Debbie stealing these baby strollers and getting a nanny. I still don’t understand why Fiona got to keep her ex fiancee and boss was the one who moved away.

Holy Mother of Jesus.
It’s okay. I’ll just superglue it.
You’re thing is kinda weird.. It has all that extra skin. It freaks me out.
I could use an extra person on dishes.
Done.

3.5/10

The Goldbergs 4.01

When I heard The Goldbergs were doing The Breakfast Club episode, I thought it would be epic. Hell, I was expecting tears running from my eyes. I usually hate when shows act out the famous scene from this teen classic. I loved their tribute to The Goonies! And many other films, including Dirty Dancing or The Ghostbusters, etc. The only show that honored and celebrated The Breakfast Club well enough was Cougar Town a few years back.

Aww The Breakfast Club. Truly the ultimate teen movie of the 80s.
Why aren’t you moving?! Stop it! Start moving your body!I received my teaching license and I am now a substitute teacher.
See you in the halls, delicious people.
It’s just like The Breakfast Club!
I’m not the nerd!
Again, this is just like the movie.
You’re all wearing hats, like idiots.
Sincerely, The Breakfast Club.

6/10

The Goldbergs 4.02

I hope the whole season won’t be this bad. Why is Erica so obsessed with Geoff, she didn’t care about his feeling for years. I would have understood if she realized he was her soulmate, but why the sudden obsession?

Bookkeeper is not a librarian.
And most of my customers is me in different costumes.
My first professional paying gig!

1.5/10

How To Get Away With Murder 3.01

Frank shot Wes’s father and one of the students or Bonnie die at the end of season 3! Screaming in the woods as a form of letting go.

You get to be lawyers, responsible for your own cases.
Killer.
We’re good people now.
At least they chose a good photo.
Why are you always stalking me?
You were never normal, you just didn’t know it till now.
The five is in the bottom 10%.
When I look at you, all I see is Frank.
Who is it?

7/10`

How To Get Away with Murder 3.02

I wasn’t concerned until you started talking how not concerned you are.
I did what you did. I killed a guy and I got away with it.
Wipe it clean. Everything on it.

4.5/10

Transparent 3.01

Moira’s scenes at the beginning were amazing! Anything else was awful. Ali was practically sexually assaulted, but sure whatever. Every time the kids defend their mapa’s genre I feel so proud.

Told us to sign that in case we were kidnapped.
Can you change the M please?
Go fuck yourself.
Okay, I will.
She’s a woman! Her name is Moira!
His vitals.
HER vitals!
I am not doing things I could be doing.
I don’t want to die with some arrogant asshole calling me Mr Fefferman.

3.5/10

Younger 3.01

All this Liza Charles business is insane. I want them to get together. I doubt he’d care that she’s 40. So she lied, everyone lies about their age. I never saw the Liza/Josh connection. Homeless man in the wedding dress, though! Excellent.

Charles kissed me in the man’s department.
The sales who picked it out…
That’s for fat people.
You want a tour?
Sure.
This is were I sit. This is where I sleep.
It was just a kiss, Liza. Let it go.

4.5/10

American Horror Story 6.02

Anyone actually enjoying this season? For me it’s boredom. Remember how good the first 4 seasons were? I miss Jessica Lange every time I watch this show.

Percilla. The little girl with weird clothes.
Do you see her?
I see her.
Is that the same guy you saw in the video?

5.5/10

American Horror Story 6.03

Inbred hillbillies drinking pig’s milk and then masturbated while OJ Simpson had unconscious sex with Lady Gaga. Yeah, it’s finally getting fucked up. Doll with pig’s head and other cute gory things equally on point.

Your daughter is with Perscilla.
There can never be a friendship between dead and the living.
You were screwing this woman against the tree while these hillbillies watched.

5/10

Scream Queens 2.01

I guess now we all know why they invited Uncle Jesse to the show. Yes, my favorite scene was the one where Emma Roberts took her clothes off the minute she saw John Stamos naked. I also enjoyed that a Netflix documentary exonerated the Channels. And we all know people who went to med school even though they didn’t study enough and then there are people who really should be doctors and had to retake their exams even though they were much higher than the rich ones the first time. Don’t even get me started with online med schools and doctors who can’t diagnose the simplest things and check everything online while you’re asking them questions. Is everyone else loving Kristie Ally in this as much as I am?!

That Netflix documentary that exonerated us.
Shut up, number 5!
Turns out, I love blood! Looove it!
Turns out I’m really good at poking people!
Oh my god, thank you, right?!
Uhm, let’s go over what’s expected of you.
Dr. Hot.
Through the power of the Internet, anyone can be an M.D.
Still dressing as sluts, I see.Your obvious stupidity will not get past me.
You rich dumb whores.

8.5/10

Scream Queens 2.02

So bad it hurt at times.

Have you graduated high shool to become a detective?
I haven’t been man handled in 2 years.
Lot of work for relatively small and insignificant amount of land.
Call the police. No don’t call them. They’re morons!
From now on, when someone is about to take off the mask, don’t interrupt them with stupid questions!
Julianna Margulies.

Welcome to ReviewThisFilm

This website started as weekly reviews on movies and tv episodes, and a diary of the 700 new films I watched every year. Today it’s a place for me to write a few words on films and tv shows that leave some sort of impact on me. I no longer write in depth reviews, partially thanks to bad habits gained by spending many hours a day on Letterboxd, and partially because of my demanding day job.

If you have a film you would like me to watch and review,  please leave a comment.

Enjoy!

About me

I am the dark and twisty Meredith Grey, the mad Dexter Morgan, hoping to grow up to be a little more like the wise, but fun Nora Walker. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My favorite actresses are Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. Favorite genre – psychological drama. I watch anything with a sexual or mental abuse plot. I used to be a horror freak. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy, SVU and many more. My other interests include making oil and pencil portraits and wildlife conservation. I cannot say no to beautiful landscapes, travel, Aussie accent, TV/film quotes and avocados. I have recently moved back from Australia to the UK. I’ve been running this blog for the last 9 years. Here I comment on films and episodes I watch. Enjoy! – Joanne

favourite film and tv quotes

‘When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I’ve met you and moved to Sydney, I haven’t listened to one Abba song. That’s because my life is as good as an Abba song. It’s as good as Dancing Queen.’ (Muriel’s Wedding)

‘I used to think about
your life in New York. I tried to imagine your room. I kept track of the time difference, so I  knew when you were awake and when you were asleep.’ (Disobedience)

‘Nothing’s clean, Howard. But we do our best, right?’ (The Aviator)

‘No, I’m not quitting. I don’t quit things.’
‘No, actually you do. Your mother quit your father. Your father quit you. You quit your boyfriend and if I read your hospital chart correctly you quit your life momentarily on a couple of occasions. You quit. It’s what you know how to do.’ (Greys)

‘Where the hell was I that year?’
‘Your were watching television’. (Everybody Loves Raymond)

‘It’s impossible to worry about anything else when there’s blood coming out of you.’
(Short Term 12)

‘I wanted it to happen. And when we were girls… Even then, it was the same. It’s always been this way! I have always wanted it.’ (Disobedience)

‘Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you play games in your head. You make up someone, someone good.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a moment when our lives change forever. The moment we admit our weaknesses, the moment we rise to a challenge, the moment we accept a sacrifice, or let a loved one go. And sometimes the change in our lives is an answer to our prayers.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Yesterday I went to the movies all day by myself. One after the other. I’ve never done that before. I had a really happy day.’ (Doing Time for Patsy Cline)

‘I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope. And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed a feel like I might die today.’ (Greys)

‘She saved me my whole life. Without her, I’m nothing.’ (The Favourite)

‘Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.’  (Greys)

‘Bree sobbed quietly in the restroom for five miutes, but her husband never knew, because when Bree finally emerged, she was perfect.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘I am not food, you cannot just eat and eat.’ (The Favourite)

‘I don’t love him.’
‘Of course you do.’
‘No!’
‘Don’t take me for a fool Olive,  I’m many things but I’m not a fool.’
‘I know that, you’re brilliant.’
‘Don’t you see, it’s over. Whatever this is, was, it’s over.’
‘I love You.’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing, is reason enough to celebrate.’ (Greys)

‘Many years ago, a neighbour and a good friend of ours took her life, and that left us all heartbroken and perplexed. But somehow, when I was alone in that hotel room, I forget about all the pain that she caused. In those awful moments, I thought maybe she had the answer.‘ (Desperate Housewives)

‘What happened last year when you fell in the water?’
‘I almost drowned. Do you think I did that for kicks?’
‘You put your hand in a body cavity that contained unexploded ammunition.’
‘I was trying to save a patient!’
‘Why is it that every other person in that room had the sense to hit the deck? You know people run away from this line between life and death. You seem to stand on it and wait for a strong wind to sway you one way or the other. You’re careless with your life. You’re not slitting your wrists but you’re careless. Probably because your mother told you you were a waste of space on this planet. The problem is you believed her. And if you don’t want out one of these days you’re going to die because of it.’  (Greys)

‘This is the street where I used to live and these were the people with whom I shared my life. I met them the day they moved in. And I saw what they brought with them. Beautiful dreams for the future. And quiet hopes for a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children, too. If I could, would I tell them what lies ahead? Would I warn them of the sorrow and betrayal that lie in store? No. From where I stand now, I see enough of the road to understand how it must be traveled. The trick is to keep moving forward, to let go of the fear and the regret that slow us down and keep us from enjoying a journey that will be over too soon. Yes, there will be unexpected bends in the road, shocking surprises we didn’t see coming, but that’s really the point. Don’t you think?’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Was your life not working when you let that slip out from under you?’
‘When are you going to stop suggesting that I’m suicidal?’
‘When you start acting like someone that wants to be alive.’
‘Give me my chart.’
‘Why?’
‘Because I’m not suicidal, and if it says that I am, then it’s wrong.’ (Greys)

‘There is nothing wrong with me.’
‘Then show me your arm.’ (Degrassi)

‘Look, my whole life, I have been the freak. The girl who nobody picked for dodgeball. The girl who didn’t have a mom. The girl who dressed funny because it was her dad buying her clothes. And then, tonight I looked at these people, and I thought maybe there’s a future where I don’t have to be a freak. Maybe I can be who I am and that’s okay.’ (Everything Sucks)

‘Dr, I have been this way since…since I can remember. There is no cure.’ (American Horror Story)

‘He was so crazy about me, I couldn’t breathe. So we tried drinking our way back into love, but it never made sense in the morning. So I ran. And every time I came back, he was here. And he was still crazy about me.’ (My Blueberry Nights)

‘Bree van de Kamp had always wanted to live her life with elegance and grace. That is also how she wanted to die. Her plan was to pour herself a glass of her favorite chardonnay, put on her most stylish nightgown and leave behind a note on embossed stationery.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘All we have is this moment. The future is just a fucking concept that we use to avoid being alive today. So be… here…. now.’ (Six Feet Under)

‘On the train coming here, we were in the same cart, I saw you, you were reading and you feel asleep. I didn’t dare to look at you, you were so beautiful, it was scary. Afterwards,  I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It made me smile. Then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who’d make you laugh. How lucky they were.’ (Enemy at the Gates)

‘It was a good day. Maybe even a great day. Even when it was hard, I was the me in my head. There was a moment when I thought I cant do this, I cant do this alone. I close my eyes and imagine myself doing it, and I did, I blocked out the fear, and I did it.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a time when we must expose our weaknesses. When our secrets can no longer remain private, when our solitude can no longer be denied, when our pain can no longer be ignored, but sometimes we feel so alone that a weakness we thought we’d overcome suddenly becomes too strong to fight.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Why did you get married, Esti? Why didn’t you just leave? So everything was all right when I left?’
‘No. I was ill.’
‘What sort of ill?’
‘In my head.’
‘If I had to sleep with a man, why not with our best friend?’
‘Oh, Esti…’
‘It hasn’t been a complete disaster.’
‘And that’s enough?! Do you have to have sex every Friday?’
‘It’s expected.’
‘It’s medieval. What happened to you?’
‘Nothing. You happened to me. And then I started teaching and that became important. I give them ambition.’
‘To do what? Push out seven babies and be a good wife?’
‘Don’t. Don’t. I help them to value themselves.’
‘Okay, but what about you?’
‘That is me. And you? Are you happy?’
‘Yes, I am.’
‘Have you been with other women?’
‘No. Not really. And you?’
‘No.’
‘But, Esti… Do you still
only fancy women?’ (Disobedience)

‘OK, then, listen. Let’s not get caught.’
‘What are you talkin’ about?’
‘Let’s keep goin’!’
‘What d’you mean?’
‘Go.’
‘You sure?’
‘Yeah. Yeah.’ (Thelma & Louise)

‘She let me live at Nora’s house. She let me believe that I was a part of their family. I fell in love with that family. What am I supposed to do, just sit there, pretend I’m related to them? I was happy. For the first time in my life I was happy.’ (Brothers and Sisters)

‘You will be left all alone with your bitterness and your rage and your knowledge that you loved her and she loved you and you threw it away for them.’
‘Do you love her?’
‘Yes.’
‘And Have you always?’
‘Yes.’
‘So then ask her.’
‘Olive, will you forgive me?’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘No razors, no scissors, no fucking freedom.’
(Short Term 12)

‘You can’t take a picture of this. It’s already gone.’ (Six Feet Under)
