The next post will be added in about 28 hours, because…it’s Fuller House release day! I took Friday off just so I could reminisce about my childhood! It’s all I’ve been talking about for the last 10 months. I will post all the remaining tv show reviews on Sat and Sunday since I still have some from January.

Uncle Buck

If you’ve been following this blog, or read the intro above, you know I’m a huge fan of 90s family films. Uncle Buck was one of the two John Hughes films I haven’t seen and now I only have one left. It casually popped up on Netflix. I think I didn’t find it before because it categorized under ‘comedy’ not ‘family’. Uncle Buck was funny and it’s one of these films I wish I could watch for the first time once again. I recommend it to all family film lovers out there who miss their childhoods just as much as I do.

‘I don’t think I want to know a six-year-old who isn’t a dreamer, or a sillyheart. And I sure don’t want to know one who takes their student career seriously. I don’t have a college degree. I don’t even have a job. But I know a good kid when I see one. Because they’re ALL good kids, until dried-out, brain-dead skags like you drag them down and convince them they’re no good. You so much as scowl at my niece, or any other kid in this school, and I hear about it, and I’m coming looking for you!’

‘Ever hear of a ritual killing?’

‘We can talk about burying the hatchet. You know what a hatchet is, don’t you, Bug? I got one in my car if you’d like to see it. I like to carry it, you never know when you’re going to need it. A situation may come up say for example, someone has been drinking, and about to drive a loved one home… then I’d like to know I have it.

‘What do you do for a living?
Lots of things.
Where’s your office?
I don’t have one.
How come?
I don’t need one.
Where’s your wife?
Don’t have one.
How come?
It’s a long story.
You have kids?
No I don’t.
How come?
It’s an even longer story.
Are you my dad’s brother?
What’s your record for consecutive questions asked?
38.
I’m your dad’s brother alright.’

‘His name is Bug.
‘First or last?
‘First!
‘What’s his last name, Spray?’

‘Stand me up today and tomorrow I’ll drive you to school in my robe and pajamas and walk you to your first class. 4:00 okay?’

‘You know, I have a friend who works at the crime lab at the police station. I could give him your toothbrush and he could run a test on it. To see if you actually brushed your teeth or just ran your toothbrush under the faucet.’

‘How would you like to spend the next several nights wondering if your crazy, out-of-work, bum uncle will shave your head while you sleep? See you in the car.’

‘Get used on your parents’ time.’

‘Why was your uncle micro waving your socks?
He can’t get the goddamn washing machine to work.’

‘I’m sorry.’
‘Hey, come on. Nothing to be sorry about. I’m just glad I got a chance to know you again.’

7/10

Circle

Thriller and puzzle film of the year. 50 people are put in one room and they have to eliminate 49 people, so only one survives. Half of them want to save the pregnant lady, or the child, and other half want to save themselves. I haven’t seen a thriller this good in a long time. You’d think the most recognized actor would be the one who wins, but she’s not! It was smart and kept me interested till the end.

9/10

The Intern

It shows you some important differences between our generation and our parents’, maybe grandparents’ for some of you. I wish this kind of internship for my dad and any person in their 60s and early 70s, Robert’s character is 70. Teaching these young kids respect and learning how to work with the computer in the process. Robert’s character is extremely likable as he’s always smiling and being nice to everybody and you literally feel like he’s your wiser and older friend. I saw the trailer when I went to see Ricki and the Flash with a friend, and we laughed about how awful this film looks. I recall saying something like ‘what is this, The Devil Wears Prada 2? My friend burst with laugh. My friend is more ‘judgy’ you could say, while I am more sarcastic in a wryly way. Deep inside I knew I’d see this film, because I do try to watch everything Robert de Niro is in. Even if it’s The Big Wedding or some other romantic comedy. My ‘judgy’ friend watches all of his dramas and skips romantic comedies and such. The Intern was sweet and funny, and I guess that’s all it was supposed to be. It did feel like The Devil Wears Prada 2 and that’s okay too. I guess sometimes, you need to postpone watching another drama for another night, and allow yourself to watch a light, sweet film and The Intern is the one to watch.

‘Here’s my theory about this. We all grew up during the “take your daughter to work day” thing, right? So we were always told we could be anything, do anything. And I think guys got, maybe not left behind, but not quite as nurtured, you know? I mean, like, we were the generation of “you go, girl.”We had Oprah. And I wonder sometimes how guys fit in, you know? They still seem to be trying to figure it out. They’re still dressing like little boys. They’re still playing video games. Well, they’ve gotten great. How, in one generation, have men gone from guys like Jack Nicholson and Harrison Ford to… take Ben, here. A dying breed. You know? Look and learn, boys. Because if you ask me, this is what cool is.’

‘You know what would be good? If you carried a handkerchief.’

6/10

Taken: The Search for Sophie Parker

It tells a story of an FBI agent, who’s daughter goes on a trip to Moscow and is kidnapped along with her friend. There are a few films that cover sex trafficking and this one does feels like a Taken wannabe, you just have a female FBI agent, played by Julie Benz, instead of Liam Neeson. It’s and interesting take and is worth seeing. Also what kind of a moron would kidnap a daughter of the head of US Embassy?

7/10

Love the Coopers

It’s getting ridiculous how many romantic comedies Diane Keaton has been in. I have never been a fan of hers, but she has over 20 of them. I’m not even mentioning other comedies non-romantic like Mad Money. This is probably the first Olivia Wilde film that I liked her in. I loved her storyline and Melissa Tomei’s too. The voice of the dog is Steve Martin, you guys, I’m telling you this now, as you’d be distracted trying to figure out how do you know this voice. I thought it was Steve for a second, and then I convinced they wouldn’t ask him to voice over a dog in some average Christmas film. And they did. It wasn’t nearly as good as The Family Stone, but it wasn’t awful either. Look out for that little girl saying ‘You’re such a dick’, it’s hilarious.

Lamb

An underrated masterpiece. It tells a story of a man who tries to save a little girl from life of prostitution, by taking her on a trip. They soon form a bond, not pedophile/child one, though she does catch him having sex with a woman which breaks her heart. After a week he takes her back home and tells her they will never see each other again, and the film ends with her crying and running after his truck. It was a breathtaking experience, you all need to see. For all SVU fans, it stars that girl who got stabbed by her loving sister on Halloween night in season 16. That SVU episode did not indicate what a great actor she’s going to become, but this one does. Lamb was better than half of the films nominated for Oscars this year. I need to get it on DVD asap.

9/10

Exit Speed

It was fantastic, especially for a TV movie. A wonderful thriller starring Lea Thompson and that other guy from Dexter, Quinn was it? A bunch of people take a bus to Las Vegas and get attacked by a motorcycle gang. They end up going to some abandoned garage in the middle of nowhere and they are forced to kill all the gang members in order to survive. I recommended it to my friend and she just loved it, and I guarantee, you’ll love it too.

8/10

The Keeping Room

The film wasn’t special, but the rape was accurate. A couple days ago I reviewed a film called Joy Division which focused more or so on a girl being raped by the Red Army in 1945 when World War II ended. I wrote there about over 2 million women being gang raped in German, Polish and even Russian etc. in 1945, and how it was the biggest mass rape in history. Some women were raped up to 70 times during 1945.  Now, the statistics for Civil War are not as drastic, because no one told the soldiers to ‘take what’s theirs’ like the Red Army, but as in any war, rapes were very common. The Keeping room perfectly shows how vulnerable women were without men to protect them, when armed men entered their houses. The ending was not well thought of, as they dressed up as men and joined Union Army, but I’m sure sure someone’s gonna notice. Starting with, how are they going to pee? Standing up? Trivia fact, the film was shot in Romania. To read my review of Joy Division click here: Joy Division

6/10

Crimson Peak

Was it Stephen King who advertised it on Twitter? I loved the scene where we found out the siblings had an incestious relationship and Jessica Chastain’s ‘if I can’t have you, no one will’ attitude. I will definitely buy it on DVD, as I’ve already seen it twice.

8/10

And Soon the Darkness

I need to get my hands on the original one. The remake was great. I love it when naive girls go into some small towns and get kidnapped. Why don’t girls think about these things? I recommend it to everyone who follows sex crimes.

7/10

The Bridge

The Hallmark romantic comedy one. Apparently it was part one and we’ll have to wait a till next Christmas to see the rest. It is a sweet film, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who hates that th second part takes place a couple years later.

5/10

Stalked by My Doctor

Eric Roberts plays a pervy doctor, who just can’t stop himself. The film, despite being a Lifetime production, was very enjoyable.

6/10

Submerged

I thought they would show us how they struggle to get out of the car, instead they just sat there and tried to pull some backstory. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

1/10

Hellions

I saw the DVD a few months ago when I was shopping, and thought, amazing cover, it has to be good. It wasn’t and I waited for it to appear on Neftlix. I have no clue why a bunch of dead kids would want an infant baby of a teenager, but sure. The teenager is played by one Rose Chloe, best known for playing one of Degrassi’s best characters, Katie. Katie was the one who was bulimic before coming to Degrassi, got addicted to pain killers after a sports injury, and ended up getting a darker glow up and considering sleeping with a rich guy to pay for college tuition. I liked Katie. The Hellions storyline did not add up much, how did the kid get from 2 weeks to 9 months, no one will ever know. For some reason it reminded me of the fantastic horror Trick or Treat, which is always a good thing.

Alive

I finally had a chance to see it last month. It covers the controversial plane crash in 1972 in the Andes. It was controversial, because the survivors ate their frozen friends’ bodies to survive. Every couple of years I studied this case and looked for the film, and one day they casually played it on TV. There’s this one scene that is still discussed about, when Ethan Hawke’s character, who was one of the people who suggested eating dead bodies, asks the guy not to eat his sister, while he was okay with eating others’ family members. What I wish we found out was if they ate that last female that died in the avalanche, who was also the wife of one of the guys and one of the few people who didn’t agree to be eaten?  After you watch the film, go see the real life pictures. There’s one which features most of those rescued sitting next to a meatless spine of who’s believed to be the plane’s pilot. The film was everything I expected it to be.

9/10

Henry’s Crime

Keeanu Reeves’s character ends up in prison for the robbery he didn’t do, so when they let him out he befriends an actress at a local theater that is joined with the bank by an old tunnel, just to have access and rob the same bank he was accused of stealing from. I enjoyed the film, because of Vera Farmiga, but I felt like there was something missing.

6/10

Turbulence

A wonderful film I’m surprised I’ve never heard of before. A stewardess is forced to fly a plane full of passengers after both pilots are killed by a criminal on board. Does it get better than this? It was one of the best thrillers in a long time. Also, my third favorite non real story based plane film after The Flight Plan with Jodie Foster and Non Stop with Liam Neeson and Julianne Moore.

9/10

Drop Dead Gorgeous

Funny, and cute, but not in a Legally Blonde way, just average.

5/10

Eden

Great thriller with that awful 90210 actress about a plane crush and a bunch of kids having to share food and water as they wait to be rescued. The kids turn on each other and form two groups. Made me miss Lost.

6/10

Demonic

Surprising good and with Maria Bello. A bunch of kids do seance at teh house where kids who did a seance years ago died. One of them is questioned by the police. I don’t think it would be that enjoyable after the first watch.

6.5/10

The Choking Game

Am I really that old, or was a choking game just something that American teenagers do? Was it a thing 10 or 5 years ago? Where did it come from? I remember kids seeking excitement from self harm, blood and knives, but choking? Cassie Steele’s little sister is in this film, and the film is just awful. But if you wanna see too girls trying to choke the stress out of them, go ahead. I wouldn’t try to choke myself to unconsciousness, but apparently, it’s popular as the statistics at the end of the film said.

3.5/10

Jesse Stone: No Remorse

How come Jesse Stone has like 8 films? I have seen two so far and they are just dreadful. The other one was a kidnapping case, or a sex crime, don’t remember now, but this was not watchable.

2/10

Buried Alive

Construction workers blow something up and the whole neighborhood collapses. I found it quite interesting, and love catastrophic films. The film as a whole wasn’t exactly what you’d call ‘good’, but I wanted to see how they would get people out.

5/10

Raging Sharks

When I see a  shark or water creature film there’s no stopping me from watching. Clearly that’s not always a smart choice. This one is foreign with some average shark attacks. Clearly not memorable.

0.5/10

At The Devil’s Door

Oh it was garbage. Don’t waste your time.

Quick reviews of some films I’ve seen around Christmas time.

Lianna

Everyone who liked Carol has to see this film. It’s a story about a teacher who has an affair with a married student. It’s so good, you will not want it to end.

8/10

Naomi And Ely’s No Kiss List

The problem with Netflix is it mainly has films you wouldn’t bother to see otherwise, like this title. It was too dramatic and self absorbed, and I wouldn’t recommend it. I had more fun watching that Halloween film with Victoria Justice called Fun Size than this.

3/10

Insurgent

Much worse than the first one, but I did like when Naomi Watts’s character shot Kate Winslet. I am still not a fan of this franchise, and honestly I only watched Divergent when I heard Naomi Watts was going to be in the second one, and I still waited half a year after it came out to watch.

2.5/10

The Search for Santa Paws

Cute and funny, perfect family Christmas film.I thought it would be really bad, but when it was leaving Netflix a month before Christmas, it was just the time to watch it, as I was just getting into my pre-Christmas spirit. The little girl’s singing and all the cuteness was a little too much for any sane adult person, but I understand we were not the targeted audience.

6/10

Santa Paws 2

The sequel is a mistake that should have never happened. The series (I heard there’s a third one!) tries to be Homeward Bound and it just never will. I was checking my instagram and twitter the whole film. I bet little kids would be disappointed too.

1/10

Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas

It gets Christmass-y over here. Another film that Netflix removed before Christmas, I didn’t get the chance to see that other Mickley and friends special. This one took me back to my childhood while I laughed like a crazy kid. After three month, I still remember the 2 stories that I liked, first, when Donald’s nephews wanted to get on the good kids list and  second, when Snoopy ruined Christmas. Definitely seeing that other one someday.

6.5/10

The Veil

If you’re looking for a film about a prophet or a cult, do yourself a favor, go see The Sacrament. I saw The Veil for Lily Rabe, and it the film was just awful. The Sacrament is a masterpiece, this is simply horrible.

2/10

Always Watching: A Marble Hornets Story

I don’t even remember this one, other that I really hated it. Don’t watch.

0.5/10

There’s less than a week left till the Oscars, and most of you is trying to watch all the nominated films in time for the big show. That was me over a month ago. Every year I watch all films nominated before the Golden Globes. This year,  it was a bigger challenge as the ceremony was so early in the year. I made it on time, even though the last film I watched was on the day of the ceremony. Here are my thoughts on this years Academy Awards nominees.

Room

Definitely my favorite this year. It’s not based on an actual story. The book’s author was inspired by the Fritzl case, for all of you not familiar with it, It’s a story of a Austrian woman that was held prisoner for 24 years by her father who abused and raped her, and as result she gave birth to 7 children. What is it with Austria illegal child imprisonment? Three worldwide known cases in 3 years? The author used elements of this tragic story, most noticeably, a steel door that weighed about 300 kg with a code lock door system, and sickness of one of the children followed by begging the kidnapper to get them to a hospital. You may have heard of this case in 2008 when the woman finally escaped her abuser. The film also reminds me of the Jacee Dugard kidnapping, mainly because of the soundproof shed. This film is a must see, and please look out for the carpet/truck scene, that will leave you in awe. The scene includes Jacob Tremblay’s wonderful reaction as his character sees the world for the first time.

9/10

Spotlight

Great story, an outstanding thought-provoking film. My second favorite this year. The Spotlight journalism team from The Boston Globe reveals there are 90 priests/pedophiles in Boston only.

If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a village to abuse them.

It’s time, Robby! It’s time! They knew and they let it happen! To KIDS! Okay? It could have been you, it could have been me, it could have been any of us. We gotta nail these scumbags! We gotta show people that nobody can get away with this; Not a priest, or a cardinal or a freaking pope!

They say it’s just physical abuse but it’s more than that, this was spiritual abuse. You know why I went along with everything? Because priests, are supposed to be the good guys.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we spend most of our time stumbling around the dark. Suddenly, a light gets turned on and there’s a fair share of blame to go around. I can’t speak to what happened before I arrived, but all of you have done some very good reporting here. Reporting that I believe is going to have an immediate and considerable impact on our readers. For me, this kind of story is why we do this.

9/10

Brooklyn

Relatable for anyone who wants to move to the US. Like most of the films nominated this year, it’s based on the book of the same title. I am not sure why she spent so much time talking to the rich Irish guy. Why did she even stay in Ireland so long? We all know how nosy and rude people in small communities, towns or neighborhoods can be. I knew they would show her sharing all the clues she heard from that Irish girl on her first day on the ferry with another girl at the end. For someone who has lived 3 continents away from home, I gained a bunch of knowledge myself. The kind I would not get from research. This knowledge and experiences are one of the best things in life. Once I’m at it, living somewhere and going on a 2 week long or even 1 month long trip are not the same things. I can’t stand people who brag on Facebook how lovely some country is, when they know nothing about living there. Brooklyn beautifully shows how Saoirse’s character settles in the new country. She could have faced more obstacles, but I get that was not the reason for the film. I love that she is homesick to the point were she cries and can’t even work. I remember how all of my friends asked me how come I’m not scared of moving from Europe to Australia, but I never felt homesick. After university, I went back to the UK and homesickness kicked in. Reminiscing to Australia is another thing, but missing the street you grew up on is homesickness, and I never felt it in Australia, probably because I had too much fun or that living there was one of my biggest goals. I don’t see myself working in my home city, living in my childhood home when I’m old, of course, but definitely not studying or working there. I love that she couldn’t attend her sibling’s funeral, because you need to take this into account as well, if you move to another country, you’ll be living on a budget. I love how in the end she realizes, that the place she called home is not her home anymore, that her life is in America now. My third favorite film this year.

I wish that I could stop feeling that I want to be an Irish girl in Ireland.
Homesickness is like most sicknesses. It will pass.

I’d forgotten what this town is like. What were you planning to do? Perhaps you didn’t even know. Perhaps it was enough for you to know that you could ruin me.

You have to think like an American. You’ll feel so homesick that you’ll want to die, and there’s nothing you can do about it apart from endure it. But you will, and it won’t kill you. And one day, the sun will come out you might not even notice straight away-it’ll be that faint. And then you’ll catch yourself thinking about something or someone who has no connection with the past. Someone who’s only yours. And you’ll realize that this is where your life is.

9/10

Carol

I still liked Chloe better, couldn’t Todd Haynes get Julie Moore to play Carol? For those of you who don’t remember he directed her in Safe. Also, I still don’t think Rooney was the right fit for Theresa. I thought the same about Cate Blanchet, but changed my mind while watching. The film is based on the novel called The Price of Salt, written by Patricia Highsmith, author of the famous Strangers on a Train and the Tom Ripley series, that was later adapted by Alfred Hitchcock into a film. I have a feeling the film would be better if it was made in the 50s, (the book was published in 1952) and it would most likely be more similar to ‘The Children’s Hour’, one of my most favorite films of Audrey Hepburn (also starring Shirley McClaine). I haven’t read the book yet, but I want to. The author said it was inspired by a woman in fur she met one day as she helped her pick out a doll (in the film it was a train set). The author has never seen the woman again, as opposed to here, having an affair with her. The rest of the storyline was based on her previous experiences, as one of her ex-lovers lost her children in a custody battle after she was recorded in a hotel. I haven’t read the book, but I’ve heard that Carol was supposed to be in her early 30s and Cate Blanchett is in her mid 40s. I like that Todd chose a bigger age difference, by making the relationship even more ‘forbidden’. To finish, here is what the book’s author said about why the book was so well received: ‘The appeal of The Price of Salt was that it had a happy ending for its two main characters, or at least they were going to try to have a future together. Prior to this book, homosexuals male and female in American novels had had to pay for their deviation by cutting their wrists, drowning themselves in a swimming pool, or by switching to heterosexuality, or by collapsing—alone and miserable and shunned—into a depression equal to hell.’ This is my fourth favorite film this award season.

9/10

The Danish Girl

A beautiful real life story and a true inspiration for transgender community. The film us based on the book of the same title. They should have shown us the notebook, or read quotes from it at least. It’s surprising and admirable that the wife went along with his new true self, as it wasn’t a long marriage. This is my 5th favorite film this season.

9/10

The Revenant

The Revenant is a story of a guy who wants to avenge his Native American son’s death after being separated from his group. There’s Indians and snow and a giant bear, trying to rip him to pieces. It’s based on a book that portrays the intriguing life of Hugh Glass. The only thing that was an actual event is the bear attack, and these two guys were asked to stay with him till he died, they dug a grave and stole his belongings. In the book and film, one of them kills his Native American son, which I assume he never even had. The bear scene was definitely impressive and probably the only intriguing part of the film. By now you’ve probably seen the para-poster saying the film is ‘A story of actors who got cold and ate some meat, and Leo being messed about by a bear.’ The titled revenant is his dead wife, who doesn’t bring anything to the story. The film should be re-titled Revenge or something. After googling the book, it turns out the original title of the book is ‘The Revenant: A story of Revenge’ Now that’s much better. Despite it’s partial brutality, it wouldn’t pass as a horror film, and someone could have taken it for one after hearing that title. I feel like award shows are desperately trying to award Leo, just because he has been missed out on so many times. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed The Revenant a lot, it just wasn’t my favorite. The film may be too brutal for some, especially the opening scene. You would think it’s Tarantino’s film, not Inarritu’s, Hateful Eight 2 or something. Subtitles are distracting, their accents were all over the place too. The scenery is breathtaking with all the glaciers and waterfall and lots of snow. I know everyone is in awe of how great this film is, but I think there were 5 films that were just a little more magnificent.

8/10

Steve Jobs

Kate Winslet is getting all the awards for speaking with an accent that could never pass as Polish. Also, Poland is not and Eastern European country. It’s Middle European. It’s a huge difference, they haven’t been taught Russian in schools since the late 80s. Another film where they just don’t bother to check the facts. I haven’t seen the other two Steve Jobs films, that are supposed to be really bad, but this one was interesting and quite informative for someone who’s never owned a Mac or an Iphone. My 7th favorite this year.

7.5/10

The Martian

Worse than Contact with Jodie  Foster and  Gravity with Sandra Bullock, but slightly better than Interstellar, even though a little more boring. Matt Damon gets left on Mars, is announced dead and Jessica Chastain and her crew decide to go back for him. It’s not very thrilling, but interesting for sure, and you’re gonna get teary by the end. Interstellar was more heartbreaking with 80 years passing and him staying young.

7.5/10

The Bridge for Spies

Based on life of James Donovan, it follows the events around the first prisoner exchange on the Bridge of Spies. Cold war, Soviet spies, hostages, Glienicke Bridge, Berlin Wall. If you like any of these topics, it’s a film for you. Otherwise, you won’t find it astonishing. How would we even watch it if Tom Hanks wasn’t in it? Steven Spielberg finds this story particularly personal, because of his father, who was putting the remains of the U-2 plane for display for the Soviets. The film was co-written by the Coen brothers. I wish it wasn’t a spy film and they focused on the Berlin Wall instead. The Berlin Wall scenes were my favorite, though not shown well enough. Tom’ character’s jacket being stolen, not relevant. People turning their backs on him for representing a Soviet spy, sure. It’s a court film meets war film meets action film meets thriller. If you’re not a huge history freak, or a huge Tom Hanks freak, you’ll be bored. Gladly my dad is both, so I’ll recommend it to him and maybe he’ll explain to me what the hype is about.

7/10

Joy

My 10th favorite this year. Jennifer Lawrence plays a girl who came up with a washable mop. She tries to sell the product, but is taken advantage of by one of the companies she orders the product from. Bradley Cooper’s character, annoying. Robert DeNiro is only maybe in two scenes. I didn’t find it significant enough, compared with other films, and I see the Academy thought the same, as it wasn’t nominated for best film, just best actress.

7/10

The Big Short

When my friend said she’s giving up on Hollywood after seeing this one, I thought she was being over dramatic. As it turns out, this is the most boring film I have seen in the last couple of years. Not many will care for some guy who foresaw the 2008 financial crisis. Lots of small banks and private companies give loans to people who lie about their employment. It wins lots of best written script awards, but I don’t think it’s a must see.

6/10

The Hateful Eight

I am a fan of Reservoir Dogs, and  I liked Inglorious Bastard, but I could never appreciate Kill Bill, Death Proof or even Pulp Fiction for that matter. Most of The Hateful Eight is shot in one cabin, some is shot in the woods outside. The language and content is vulgar at times, but that’s with all Tarantino films. I was telling all my friends that The Hateful Eight will be one of Tarantino’s best films and It just wasn’t. Please watch it for Jennifer Jason Leigh’s performance, she’s the only reason I’m glad I watched it.

5/10

Trumbo

Trumbo follows the life of a famous screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, who had to write his masterpieces under a fake name, because he got blacklisted for having Communist beliefs. Trumbo is know for Hollywood classics like Roman Holiday or Gladiator. For some reason I really liked it, it was heartbreaking at times, and heartwarming at others. The film is definitely not as good as Trumbo’s scripts, and it feels a little simple, and same as Joy, it was nominated only for best actor. I recommend it anyway.

7/10

Mad Max

I haven’t seen the Mel Gibson one, or any others from the series, so I can’t comment on the weird future land and it’s creatures. The only things I liked about it was that it was based in Australia and it’s dry and simplistic scenery, or the lack of it. I couldn’t imagine where were all the places they mentioned located, but remember the old Roman Empire or pharaoh films where they were saying something was somewhere and you just couldn’t image it? That’s what happens here. I guess it’s the desert effect. The whole film is  just a very long car chase, I wouldn’t nominate for anything.

Vera

I have tried to watch this one when it was nominated for Oscars, but I found it boring and turned it off after first 20 minutes. A couple years later, I DVR’d it and deleted a few weeks later. This week the film was leaving Netflix, so I had to give it another chance. It was still boring, I’m not sure why half of British films are. Action took place in exactly two rooms, and not in the good ‘Carnage’ way. It lacked a dramatic climax, she was performing illegal abortions, and then she got caught and was put in prison for 2.5 years, the end. The family was shocked, and one of her sons practically wanted to disown her, but it still lacked something. I’m not sure why the girl who got raped didn’t come to her, but some other guy. I waited for the connection between the two stories. I would not have seen it if it wasn’t an Academy Award nominee, and I’ll never watch it again. If you want to watch it solely for Imelda’s performance, then do it. But you won’t find anything else in there.

5/10

Jury Duty

Reminded me I need to rewatch 12 Angry Men. The first half is hilarious. Especially when he chooses the longest trial. He pretends he knows the first defendant, saying he used to prank people with him and cheat on tests in high school, then he pretended to be handicapped, when the trial was about some doctor’s malpractice , etc. In one of these jury try-outs, he quotes Al Pacino’s character from ‘And Justice for All’: ‘You’re out of order! You’re out of order! The whole trial is out of order! They’re out of order!’, and he is chosen for this trial after he says he doesn’t watch TV, cause it’s always biased, and he looks for the truth, which no one cares about anymore. My most favorite is when he fell asleep, fell out of the jury box, got up and said ‘All rise’ and the court guard called him a moron. How about when he wrote he wants to ‘Sauna’ and threw the note that ended up hitting the killer’s face? It was a funny film with awful ending. Bruce from Judging Amy is in it. If you liked him as Amy’s court assistant, watch this film. Stanley Tucci wasn’t that big in the 90s, so maybe the film did not scream ‘He’s guilty’ but when you watch it today, you know something isn’t right there. I am a little obsessed when it comes to details of crimes, as you’ll see in the review just below, and I have always dreamed I’d get a chance to be called in for jury duty. My face would look exactly as the main character’s. I would be laughing and enjoying sweet time off work, in a nice hotel with paid meals, and I would hope for a long trial, hopefully with lack of evidence, so It’d be even longer. I wish I could sign up for jury duty, but it just doesn’t work that way. My dad said life is too short to watch crappy films like this one. But he laughed through most of it, so maybe it isn’t that bad after all.

4/10

The Perfect Husband. The Laci Peterson Story

What I don’t get is how can you lie to the victim’s family and friends, and for months pretend you had nothing to do with their death? If I remember correctly, the child was separated from his mother by coffin birth, which means the acid from mother’s womb threw baby’s body out after mother’s death. They didn’t explain anything in the film. They just said they found the infant and then the mother. Why should we watch a crappy Lifetime film if they’re not gonna explain the details of someone’s death? The body of the mother was found 20 miles from the shore almost 4 months later. The pictures of the dead child have sadly leaked online. The woman’s head was never found. I don’t remember him having a lover, who didn’t know he was married. Did Lifetime just made her up? There’s lots of cases like this one and all the most media covered ones have their Lifetime movies. It reminded me of that Candace Cameron Bure ‘No One Would Tell’, another Lifetime real story film about a teenager Stacy Collins who was murdered by her boyfriend by the local lake. In the Laci Peterson case, her child’s body was found near her husband’s fishing place. Another resemblance is it’s also another case where the partner did it, and then stayed to hang out with the family. The actor who played Mr Paterson looked exactly like him, how did they find a person who looks exactly same?

3/10

Joy Divsion

What I absolutely love is that this is one of the very few films that actually showed the most tragic consequence of the end of World War II, the biggest mass rape in history, the gang rapes of women by the Red Army. The supporting female character is gang raped three times, and the main character is shown trying to cope with the loss of her decades after. It’s estimated that more than 2 million German women were raped, some of them up to 70 times during 1945. It is estimated that 100 000 women were raped just in Berlin, other than the 2 million German, 100 000 Polish, and even 100 000 Russian. Women were raped as they were leaving concentration camps too. It’s said that most of the woman aged 8 to 90 were raped by the Red Army. I was always angry during history class in high school, because we never covered this topic. Sure we were mostly stuck a couple periods before even World War I, but this is what should have been talked about in school. Most of war films focus on Jews being killed and no one shows what happened after, just that everyone was happy that the war was over. When in fact Red Army soldiers were told to take what’s theirs and rape women. Sorry for the long ‘history lesson’, It’s just one of the subjects I’m interested in, and fun fact, I was born in one of the Pomeranian cities. Now back to Joy Division. Obviously, flashbacks were the most important part of the film. They should have skipped the present, and just make it a war film.

7.5/10

Defiance

Woah, but Bielski brothers were not some heroes. Their group supported the Soviets and helped them in massacring 128 innocent Poles in Naliboki. How did over 1000 people sit unnoticed by the German in Poland/Belarus for 5 years? They joined the Soviets. It’s based on a true story, but half of the facts don’t match. I’m sure the film was easy to watch, if you didn’t know the truth. It would have been so much better, if truthful. I’m pretty sure the town they were occupying called Nowogródek was a Polish town at the time, but today it’s Belorussian. But of course they again, didn’t check the facts. And where on Earth were Polish people?  Polish town, not one Polish person? Nice airbrushing.

7/10

Conversations with Other Women

Pretty good, though left a little unresolved. Why would they choose to have an affair, if they knew they’d be back to their spouses the next day? The affair was not a very steamy one too, it was just a hook up, with no emotions, even though he started saying he loves her at the end. The conversation was on the whole film, but I don’t think enough was said, or that these were the right words. They came up with an alternative reality and hooked up pretending it was true.

6/10

A Case of You

Aren’t most relationships like that today? If you’re in your twenties or teens and you have never checked your crush’s Facebook page to see what they music they listen to and what films they like, then you’re lying. It doesn’t have to be a crush, it may be a person you wanted to be friends with. It’s like with favorite actors you’re currently obsessed with, you find out they like some song and you immediately download it. It’s all good when they upload their Twitter and Instagram often, if not, liking some celebrity can be painful. I am surprised the girl wasn’t a little grossed out that he spied her on social media. I also felt they tried to pull a ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ kind of ending, as it ended with a dance competition or recital too. The film started off nicely, and the nature trip into the woods ruined it all for me.

4/10

All Roads Lead to Rome

The writers tried to make another ‘Under the Tuscan’s Sun’ and failed miserably. The whole film is just Sarah Jessica Parker flirting with that Italian mommy’s boy. It wasn’t witty or funny, it just felt stupid. The scene where they fell off the rock? If you follow me on Snapchat, you may have seen I snapchated it adding ‘WTF’. Not something I would recommend to anyone else than a true SJP fan.

I tried to do a lot, and I still have to review so many episodes! Good thing I have 7 shifts this week, so part 2 tomorrow.

Greys 12.09

This episode wasn’t exactly necessary. Meredith has been through enough. I was really scared Shonda would make an SVU episode out of it, but thank god, knock on wood she didn’t think of that. But you have to admit, that opening narration did suggest it. Zola was being a little brat and I felt so sorry for Mer when the kids didn’t wanna see her. Alex was either crying or about to cry through the whole episode, which is exactly how every fan of the show felt. Ellen crushed it, her performance was incredible this week. I honesntly couldn’t even look at the screen, because of her pain was just too hurting.

Or the silence will kill you.

10/10

Shameless 6.01

Shameless is back! Who else is really happy? How are you liking this season? I think it’s a little weaker one. And what happened to Deb? Why does she insist on having that kid? She was supposed to be the one Gallagher that actually accomplishes something. And now it looks like it’s gonna be Lip.

It’s the ghetto. Lots of noises in the ghetto.
That Turkish idiot.
You’re pregnant.
I’m I’m late for work, and you all look like you haven’t had gainful employment for decades, so if you don’t mind, I’ll just, um Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.
Well, Jesus freaking Chr If a man can’t find a little comfort from the Catholic Church, maybe it’s time to admit Martin Luther had a point.
Let’s give the Lutherans a try.
What could you possibly have to confess? Your cooch dried up before Nixon went to China.
Guess our reputation as a shithole still stands.
Lots of kids have to take it up the ass to survive?
He set his dad on fire.
We’d like to talk to you about the baby.
What else did I miss?

7.5/10

Castle 7.09

Finally a Martha episode, they don’t show her often enough. A Pitch Perfect kind of episode with accapella groups. I like how protective Espo and Ryan are of Beckett. I know that Swetlana is one of the most common Russian names, but I hoped Castle would reference Shameless.

Castle, we talked about this! You can’t be here!
Castle, what’s the 911?!
Or someone! You cheat on her. You cheat on us!
He told us about Swetlana.
I only have one specialty, performance.
We still like Martha.

7.5/10

The Middle 7.11

Sue wants to join a sorority, but as always, no one wants her. She finds her first college friend in the process. We rewatched the episode where Sue spends the whole day in the sun holding her hand on the car to win it. And even though she wins, she doesn’t get the car, as it’s another Frankie’s ex boss’s scam, and she wins a trip to Disney World instead. Sue is not crashed at all. My dad said this is exactly what we should do with our lives. Strive to be this happy. Mike being clueless about Twitter, is just like my dad is with the computer.

Angelina Jolie was never in a sorority.
Like murder mystery with poop.
You seem like you’re really into being happy.
I can call them myself, you just need to tell me who sets it up.
What would the call time be like.
Is this what rejection is?
Yep. Luckily you’re with a pro.

8.5/10

The Middle 7.12

Sue just isn’t fit for critical thinking. Brick imitating Mike with ‘Why I I I’

Why’d you come to college?
Because I graduated high school.
But I’m not a critical person.
When mom flirted with that bag boy, I got his name and his Wallmart ID number.
You and Axl are pretty much the same person.
You and Axl are the drama queens of our house

6/10

The Good Wife 7.11

Yes, The Good Wife is ending with this season. Are we sad? Not really as the last two season weren’t interesting at all. I mean they tried to make Peter a president, what? I’ll miss Eli, that’s for sure. Everyone else, not so much. The show isn’t addictive. You can’t obsess over it like some other dramas, so sure I’ll miss it, but it won’t be a struggle, like with so many other shows, Private Practice, Dexter, The Big C, Desperate Housewives or even Lost to name a few. I thought of another Sunday show today, Revenge, as I was watching The Middle and Axl mentioned it a couple of times. There are 8 more episodes, so don’t worry we’ll get to say goodbye. Episode nine was probably this season’s weakest.

Alicia broke all the plates and wears sunglasses all episode.

I would have said yes.
There was a young man in love with me.
I would go back to Criminal Law 101.
Your sister is Grace?
She likes you.Peter’s not number one. She is.

5/10

How To Get Away With Murder 2.10

Wes would have never got into Annalise’s class if she didn’t know his mom! Also, Annalise had a baby? Did she give it up for adoption?

Hurry, before Bonnie gets back.
You’d fall apart if they blamed him for this
Don’t make things up.
They’re my records. They should be gay.
You all belong in hell.
She didn’t do it.
She just broke priveledge.
I shot Annalise Keating.
I was drugged by Philip Jessup.
You wanted to die that night.
You knew I wouldn’t let you do it if I was there.
We didn’t call Asher that night. None of us had his number. If we did none of that would have happened.
I get it now. Why my mom did it.
You knew my mother, didn’t you?
You knew her. That’s why I’m here. Why I got in from the waitlist.
He’s adorable.
I think you’ve ruined me. Get out!

10/10

Younger 2.01

From what we’ve noticed so far, Layla’s daughter is annoying. Diana chipped her tooth.

3.5/10

Younger 2.02

How come every time I see you, you look younger.
You know who I really am. And that’s too much, or too little.
We’re gonna be 26 year old bosses!

5/10

Younger 2.07

I got a 40year old shoulder when putting on my backpack the next day I watched this episode.

I think there’s a pattern.
They also called it a 40 year old shoulder.
He was up everyone’s ass.
I fell of the eliptical this morning.
All we need is one chapter.
30? Who are you kidding?
Bitch, there is no book!
As long as the check clears, I’m good.

6.5/10

Pretty Little Liars 6.11

They moved 5 years forward, to avoid them being separated. This way it’s much easier to put them all in one place. The first episode after 5 years ended just like the pilot did., with a funeral.

We’re the brotherhood of ex-boyfriends.
We have scars to prove it.
Everywhere she went it was like she saw something she wanted to forget.
I couldn’t see the point to it. To college. To anything.
N0. I would not feel safe.

7/10

The Simpsons 27.11

This is what happens when you buy cheap food, maybe not that fast, but since when does cheap mean good.

I’m tired of my son having a mustache like a pool boy.
She’s never seen an episode of Friends.
Even The one with…
No.

5/10

The Simpsons 27.12

The Simpsons isn’t really that funny this season.

Swipe left on that accusation.

3.5/10

Ten more are coming tomorrow.

The Girl in the Book

I was nicely surprised by this one. The girl practically consented, even though a 14 year old can’t really consent, to being sexually assaulted, because she didn’t know how to refuse and kind of had a crush on her writing mentor. Her parents don’t believe her and you know the drill. Her teacher does not only not want to have anything to do with her, but he also steals her words and publishes a book based on her diary. Every aspiring writer needs to watch this film. It was simply beautiful, It made it to my top 10 of the month among with many Globe or Academy nominated titles. This is exactly the type of film I wanted to see Emily VanCamp do after Revenge.

9/10

Lions for Lambs

I hated that we didn’t get to see Redford’s character’s reaction to the final deaths. I did enjoy it as a whole, but it all just seemed too fast, and I don’t think the kid would enlist. Especially if he heard what happened to the original guys. I don’t think I’ve met a person who would have signed up for this programme. I don’t think that Meryl and Tom’s film long conversation was necessary, but s a whole, the film was definitely intriguing.

Nowhere else have I seen such lions led by such lambs.

Why did we send 150,000 troops to a country that did not attack us, and one-tenth that number to the one that did?
How many times are you people going to ask the same question?
Till we get the answer.

Says the man in the air-conditioned room.

7/10

Gone

I have been postponing watching this one long enough. Jennifer Carpenter was only in two scenes, but it was a nice thriller.

6/10

My Sweet Audrina

Even though I do not remember the book well enough, I do believe this script exaggerates behavior of already psychotic characters . My Sweet Audrina is a story of a girl who was gang raped by a bunch of teenagers when she was only 9. If you follow films that portray sex crimes, you will run into this one sooner or later. I very much hated the happy ending. It ruined whatever was good about the film. Why did they make the guy seem faultless? I know we’re not supposed to expect much from Lifetime films, but they should have tried more. I enjoy My Sweet Audrina as a story, especially the family trying to protect her from the truth, and if you haven’t read the book, you will probably figure it all out before the characters tell you.

6/10

Admission

What was even the point of this film? The only good part is when the son turned out -spoiler- not to be hers.

1/10

Charlie’s Farm

Like every other bad horror, so don’t do this to yourself.

1/10

Containment

You need to live in the UK to see how low budget this film was. One block of flats, 20 people. It didn’t make sense half the time and it ended horribly.

1/10

The Abandoned

Watchable probably only for security people. If you’re not a CCTV Operator or a Night Guard, you will most likely not like this film. I am both, and as I always enjoy films that feature security work, I made it through. Sure we were all asking why did the girl walked down the forbidden corridor especially on her first day, but that’s just what happens in bad horror films. I am disappointed with the ending as well.

Welcome to ReviewThisFilm

This website started as weekly reviews on movies and tv episodes, and a diary of the 700 new films I watched every year. Today it’s a place for me to write a few words on films and tv shows that leave some sort of impact on me. I no longer write in depth reviews, partially thanks to bad habits gained by spending many hours a day on Letterboxd, and partially because of my demanding day job.

If you have a film you would like me to watch and review,  please leave a comment.

Enjoy!

About me

I am the dark and twisty Meredith Grey, the mad Dexter Morgan, hoping to grow up to be a little more like the wise, but fun Nora Walker. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My favorite actresses are Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. Favorite genre – psychological drama. I watch anything with a sexual or mental abuse plot. I used to be a horror freak. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy, SVU and many more. My other interests include making oil and pencil portraits and wildlife conservation. I cannot say no to beautiful landscapes, travel, Aussie accent, TV/film quotes and avocados. I have recently moved back from Australia to the UK. I’ve been running this blog for the last 9 years. Here I comment on films and episodes I watch. Enjoy! – Joanne

favourite film and tv quotes

‘When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I’ve met you and moved to Sydney, I haven’t listened to one Abba song. That’s because my life is as good as an Abba song. It’s as good as Dancing Queen.’ (Muriel’s Wedding)

‘I used to think about
your life in New York. I tried to imagine your room. I kept track of the time difference, so I  knew when you were awake and when you were asleep.’ (Disobedience)

‘Nothing’s clean, Howard. But we do our best, right?’ (The Aviator)

‘No, I’m not quitting. I don’t quit things.’
‘No, actually you do. Your mother quit your father. Your father quit you. You quit your boyfriend and if I read your hospital chart correctly you quit your life momentarily on a couple of occasions. You quit. It’s what you know how to do.’ (Greys)

‘Where the hell was I that year?’
‘Your were watching television’. (Everybody Loves Raymond)

‘It’s impossible to worry about anything else when there’s blood coming out of you.’
(Short Term 12)

‘I wanted it to happen. And when we were girls… Even then, it was the same. It’s always been this way! I have always wanted it.’ (Disobedience)

‘Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you play games in your head. You make up someone, someone good.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a moment when our lives change forever. The moment we admit our weaknesses, the moment we rise to a challenge, the moment we accept a sacrifice, or let a loved one go. And sometimes the change in our lives is an answer to our prayers.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Yesterday I went to the movies all day by myself. One after the other. I’ve never done that before. I had a really happy day.’ (Doing Time for Patsy Cline)

‘I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope. And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed a feel like I might die today.’ (Greys)

‘She saved me my whole life. Without her, I’m nothing.’ (The Favourite)

‘Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.’  (Greys)

‘Bree sobbed quietly in the restroom for five miutes, but her husband never knew, because when Bree finally emerged, she was perfect.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘I am not food, you cannot just eat and eat.’ (The Favourite)

‘I don’t love him.’
‘Of course you do.’
‘No!’
‘Don’t take me for a fool Olive,  I’m many things but I’m not a fool.’
‘I know that, you’re brilliant.’
‘Don’t you see, it’s over. Whatever this is, was, it’s over.’
‘I love You.’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing, is reason enough to celebrate.’ (Greys)

‘Many years ago, a neighbour and a good friend of ours took her life, and that left us all heartbroken and perplexed. But somehow, when I was alone in that hotel room, I forget about all the pain that she caused. In those awful moments, I thought maybe she had the answer.‘ (Desperate Housewives)

‘What happened last year when you fell in the water?’
‘I almost drowned. Do you think I did that for kicks?’
‘You put your hand in a body cavity that contained unexploded ammunition.’
‘I was trying to save a patient!’
‘Why is it that every other person in that room had the sense to hit the deck? You know people run away from this line between life and death. You seem to stand on it and wait for a strong wind to sway you one way or the other. You’re careless with your life. You’re not slitting your wrists but you’re careless. Probably because your mother told you you were a waste of space on this planet. The problem is you believed her. And if you don’t want out one of these days you’re going to die because of it.’  (Greys)

‘This is the street where I used to live and these were the people with whom I shared my life. I met them the day they moved in. And I saw what they brought with them. Beautiful dreams for the future. And quiet hopes for a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children, too. If I could, would I tell them what lies ahead? Would I warn them of the sorrow and betrayal that lie in store? No. From where I stand now, I see enough of the road to understand how it must be traveled. The trick is to keep moving forward, to let go of the fear and the regret that slow us down and keep us from enjoying a journey that will be over too soon. Yes, there will be unexpected bends in the road, shocking surprises we didn’t see coming, but that’s really the point. Don’t you think?’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Was your life not working when you let that slip out from under you?’
‘When are you going to stop suggesting that I’m suicidal?’
‘When you start acting like someone that wants to be alive.’
‘Give me my chart.’
‘Why?’
‘Because I’m not suicidal, and if it says that I am, then it’s wrong.’ (Greys)

‘There is nothing wrong with me.’
‘Then show me your arm.’ (Degrassi)

‘Look, my whole life, I have been the freak. The girl who nobody picked for dodgeball. The girl who didn’t have a mom. The girl who dressed funny because it was her dad buying her clothes. And then, tonight I looked at these people, and I thought maybe there’s a future where I don’t have to be a freak. Maybe I can be who I am and that’s okay.’ (Everything Sucks)

‘Dr, I have been this way since…since I can remember. There is no cure.’ (American Horror Story)

‘He was so crazy about me, I couldn’t breathe. So we tried drinking our way back into love, but it never made sense in the morning. So I ran. And every time I came back, he was here. And he was still crazy about me.’ (My Blueberry Nights)

‘Bree van de Kamp had always wanted to live her life with elegance and grace. That is also how she wanted to die. Her plan was to pour herself a glass of her favorite chardonnay, put on her most stylish nightgown and leave behind a note on embossed stationery.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘All we have is this moment. The future is just a fucking concept that we use to avoid being alive today. So be… here…. now.’ (Six Feet Under)

‘On the train coming here, we were in the same cart, I saw you, you were reading and you feel asleep. I didn’t dare to look at you, you were so beautiful, it was scary. Afterwards,  I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It made me smile. Then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who’d make you laugh. How lucky they were.’ (Enemy at the Gates)

‘It was a good day. Maybe even a great day. Even when it was hard, I was the me in my head. There was a moment when I thought I cant do this, I cant do this alone. I close my eyes and imagine myself doing it, and I did, I blocked out the fear, and I did it.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a time when we must expose our weaknesses. When our secrets can no longer remain private, when our solitude can no longer be denied, when our pain can no longer be ignored, but sometimes we feel so alone that a weakness we thought we’d overcome suddenly becomes too strong to fight.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Why did you get married, Esti? Why didn’t you just leave? So everything was all right when I left?’
‘No. I was ill.’
‘What sort of ill?’
‘In my head.’
‘If I had to sleep with a man, why not with our best friend?’
‘Oh, Esti…’
‘It hasn’t been a complete disaster.’
‘And that’s enough?! Do you have to have sex every Friday?’
‘It’s expected.’
‘It’s medieval. What happened to you?’
‘Nothing. You happened to me. And then I started teaching and that became important. I give them ambition.’
‘To do what? Push out seven babies and be a good wife?’
‘Don’t. Don’t. I help them to value themselves.’
‘Okay, but what about you?’
‘That is me. And you? Are you happy?’
‘Yes, I am.’
‘Have you been with other women?’
‘No. Not really. And you?’
‘No.’
‘But, Esti… Do you still
only fancy women?’ (Disobedience)

‘OK, then, listen. Let’s not get caught.’
‘What are you talkin’ about?’
‘Let’s keep goin’!’
‘What d’you mean?’
‘Go.’
‘You sure?’
‘Yeah. Yeah.’ (Thelma & Louise)

‘She let me live at Nora’s house. She let me believe that I was a part of their family. I fell in love with that family. What am I supposed to do, just sit there, pretend I’m related to them? I was happy. For the first time in my life I was happy.’ (Brothers and Sisters)

‘You will be left all alone with your bitterness and your rage and your knowledge that you loved her and she loved you and you threw it away for them.’
‘Do you love her?’
‘Yes.’
‘And Have you always?’
‘Yes.’
‘So then ask her.’
‘Olive, will you forgive me?’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘No razors, no scissors, no fucking freedom.’
(Short Term 12)
