As I was just making an instagram video of the 50 best photos I have taken this year, I thought I’d do the same thing with episodes. And it may just be my new favorite thing. I thought of making it 2014 all together, but I don’t remember what happened 11 or 8 months ago, and it would have to involve Shameless and Orange is the New Black and shows that I haven’t seen an episode of since the season finale like, Bates Motel. I will make such roundup every half season. As I was making the list I realized how well Parenthood did this half season. Greys, even though in it’s weakest season is still doing beautifully. Three episodes of Revenge made the list, last year it would be so many more. The list includes, 6 episodes from Parenthood, 6 from Greys, 3 episodes from SVU, 3 of Revenge, 3 of Downton Abbey, 3 of Bones, 3 of The Good Wife, 3 of American Horror Story, 2 of Scandal, 2 of The Simpsons, 1 of Castle, 1 of Bad Judge, and 1 of How To Get Away With Murder. No Nashville or Faking It episodes made the list. Also, this is my 200th post.

The Blind Side

One of Sandra Bullock’s best films. Right after Gravity, The Heat and While you were sleeping.

8.5/10

Funny Face

‘Now when I say “go,” walk down with fire in your eyes and murder on your mind.’

6.5/10

The Mirror Has Two Faces

Lovely is the only way to put it. Everything she said about feeling ugly, and the scenes where she tells her mother she only sees her flaws is universally relatable. Lauren Bacall’s portrayal of a critisizng mother deserved all the recogniton. Added to my list of favorite films for women.

‘But I love the old Rose! The one with no makeup and baggy clothes who loves ‘the perfect bite’! She eats carrots now, isn’t that tragic?’

‘This thing that we call a wedding ceremony is really the final scene of the fairy tale. They never tell you what happens after. They never tell you that Cinderella drove the Prince crazy with her obsessive need to clean the castle, cause she missed her day job, right?’

‘Now you spend an extra hour in front of the mirror every morning and every night. And now you’ll be the one to walk into a room and scan it for who looks better than you and who doesn’t. And as the years go by, the numbers change. One day you’ll walk into a room and you’re the last woman any man notices.’

‘I tell you what I envy about people in love – I’d love it if someone knew me, I mean really knew me. What I like, what I’m afraid of, what kind of toothpaste I use.’

‘Why didn’t you pick something looser and in my color?’
‘Because Maids of Honor don’t wear black.’

‘You don’t use make-up, do you?’
‘What’s the point? I’d still look like me, only in color.’

‘I’m in the middle of one of my lesbian orgy dreams and he’s staring at me like I’m suppose to include him. I can’t even fantasize in private.’

6/10

The Skin I live in

Could not stop comparing it to Kika. Almodovar is brutal and that’s what I expected.

‘Art keeps you free.’

‘I don’t think I actually raped her.’
‘You “don’t think?” Have you lost your memory?’
‘I’d taken a lot of pills. I can hardly remember it.’
‘Well, I didn’t take anything, and I’ll never forget it!’

7/10

Maleficent

Favorite family film this year and a beautiful take on Sleeping Beauty’s villain. Can we appreciate the fact that true love is not a boy kissing a girl? Ignoring the fact that the same thing happened in Frozen, to quote Maleficent ‘What an awkward situation’, because it’s too important. My favorite storyline was when a young Maleficent fell for a boy who brutally cut her wings off.

I’m looking for a girl.
Of course you are!

Oh look, the little beast is about to fall off the cliff.

I don’t like children.

How wonderful.

Oh, come on, that’s funny.

Oh dear.

So you see, the story is not quite as you were told, and I should know, for I was the one they called “Sleeping Beauty”. In the end, my kingdom was united not by a hero or a villain, as legend had predicted, but by one who was both hero and villain. And her name was Maleficent.

7.5/10

Hooper

Expected it to be as good as the Smokey and the Bandit series, but It wasn’t bad either.

7/10

The Answer Man

A little biased about this one, I might have not been satisfied with it if it was casted differently. But the parts when he was giving the answers to the bookstore owner or Elizabeth were excellent.

Why can’t I do the things I want to do? There’s so much I know I’m capable of that I never actually do. Why is that?
The trick is to realize that you’re always doing what you want to do… always. Nobody’s making you do anything. Once you get that, you see that you’re free and that life is really just a series of choices. Nothing happens to you. You choose.

If God made everything, then why are some things bad? Like the whole pain and suffering thing…
Opposites. Without things that suck, you would have no idea what good was, and therefore be directionless. You smell shit, you walk the other way.

I love kids. They’re short, highly emotional people who don’t know anything. They rely on their creativity and imagination to get by in the world. A world, I might add, filled with giants. Amazing feat.

Now I only have three rules: don’t take advice from someone you wouldn’t trade places with, try not to do something you can’t take back, and something is what it is and it’s not something else.

I hate answering machines for this very reason, you know, they’re like life, you can’t take anything back.

For you and you alone I have made this place, kaleidoscope of wonder to keep your eye upon as I turn turn the world.

You wanna know something cool about shaking hands with little people? They see us shaking hands but they don’t know that we squeeze the other person’s hand so they – y’know – they just hold hands with you for a couple of seconds.

A week late, as I was waiting to add the Downton Abbey special, but I’m not gonna wait till the 25th. I’ll rate it in early January when I sum up all the shows seperately.

Revenge 4.10

Weakest midseason finale yet and the wring character died. Couldn’t just Charlotte die instead? Most importantly, Henry Czerny guest stars, seeing his name in the opening credits made my previously awful day so much better. They should never have him killed. Emily taking Nolan’s secret dolphin shaped foil cameras was nice to watch, but her fight with the FBI agent? Everything about the FBI agent storyline felt forced. What is it with Victoria-s grandchildren? Why do they always have to lose their father shortly after they found out? Favorite scene? Daniel twlling Victoria he’s thankful for Emily telling him the truth, his monologue about wealthy families was just on point. Daniel’s death did not seem like a sacrifice to me, he was just foolishly walking in the wrong place and convinced he’s Daniel Grayson, played a knight. I did not see a sacrifice here, despite what everyone, including the promo for the next episode says. Victoria exposed the truth to David, and all I could tji k of was, enough with the flight talk. We’ve been through this already and it doesn’t matter anymore when the whole world knows he was framed.

Emily is our way out.
They hold grudges and arrest warrants.
I couldn’t live with myself If something happened to you.
A child needs a father.
Even like him?
It’s all part of a bigger plan.
In this startling dress.
I’m grateful.
We throw parties to cover up the truth. We’re not special. (Yes please)
This is not how I expected to spend my summer. (It sounds like a Nolan line, it would be so much better if he was the one who said it)
And in my rage, I chose you. (Like I said, no one cares at this point)
One of the many perks of having a genius as a best friend. (Thank you, Em)
Get out of here! Run!
Why didn’t you listen to me, Daniel! I told you to run. Why didn’t you run.
We can either choose to hide as villains or live as heros. (Wrong show, but a good line)
I want you to know it wasn’t all a lie. (Most dishonest thing on the show)
I know.

SVU 16.10

An exceptionaly painful episode, as we all know where this is going, about three seasons before that frightening promo for midseason premiere. ‘Those are my rape kits’, ‘you could always start an argument in an empty house’, ‘they’re trynna make sure I know my place’ and ‘you know that I never take no for an answer’ from Amanda’s rapist left a sour taste. Why the hell Amanda? She was my favorite character since she showed up at the precinct. Other than that an amazing episode, it might have been the first time, the squad had a brave little girl who managed to remember all the details and even thought of shoving her headphones in the seat to prove she’s been in the car. I was just as impressed as Liv and Amanda were.

I also know he’s gonna do it over and over again, until we find him.
A word of advice Rollins, when you’re coming up with an excuse, don’t over sell it.
And he might have not gone anywhere.
You know how many rapists sing, hum or whistle to their victims? A lot.
How about you take Fin?
Thank you.
You have no hot water.
I’m fine Fin.
Everything has its number but nothing is were it’s supposed to be.
Those are my rape kits?
You could always start an argument in an empty house.
They’re trynna make sure I know my place.

I can’t even go to church anymore.
Sounds like a cost effective trip.
Seems a little young for our guy.
You’re the seargant everyone’s been waiting for?
I shoved headphones between them so I could prove I was there.
It was blue and white.
Great. Don’t say sorry, honey. You did great!
These women agreed to do it. Hey wanted pills.
And since the phone is in your name, we can charge you as well. (They set it up perfectly)

10/10

Bones 10.10

In Hitchcock style. Hodgins’s a mad scientist and TJ outshined everyone. Cam fell out of the plane. On point with all the feministic remarks, so very relevant to the times. ZZ Top’s back and so are Max and Caroline and the interns. They could bring Lance back. They should have brought Sweets back for this one. Especially since they brought Pelant. Loved the credits and e everyone. A fabulous episode. Also, Hodgins.

Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. (My reaction – Yes, our babies! So damn proud of my show)
Cam’s the maid. (Wtf!)
Temperance Brennan. NYPD. (HA!)
Dad. (Did not see that one coming)
Who are you and how did you get in here?
I told you not to call me darling.
When you stop calling me darling.
There are many reasons for murder, darling.
We gotta boogie, man. (Amen)
Christine.
(From my notes) Wtf is Pelant doing here!? (That reaction hasn’t changed)
She’s tall, dark, egzotic. (And here’s my purse, haha)
Real maid would have cleaned better. (Bones staying Bones, even in alternative world)
This beautiful artist.
What do you have in there, a dead body. Unconsious. (Did not see this line coming! Favorite of the entire episode)
How about that picture? (Had me screaming like a baby)

10/10

American Horror Story 4.09

Finn is the greatest character of this season. Go ahead, take Jimmy.

Avon calling.
Now you’re my puppet, mother.
You have a true talent.
There is nothing worse than an alcoholic with bad hygiene. (Laughed and rewinded)
Living like animals.
With one leg.
A chance of love like normal woman.
We buried her weeks ago. (Best!)
This is fresh blood from some lovely ladies I killed earlier today. (No better line than this)
I wanna give my life so you can have one.
Talk you out of it? I’m here to watch. (Haha)
Being what I am, a freak.
You dug a whole for her, you work for me and I’ll pay you 1 mln dollars in cash.
What kind of a psycho goes for a bunch of sweet housewives.

8/10

American Horror Story 4.10

Pepper’s story was excrutiating, Lily Rabe guest starred, we went back to Asylum and most importantly, Elsa did make it big! Freaks keep dropping dead like flies, how is that possible. By the time Elsa leaves for Hollywood, every single one of them will be dead. I doubt Jimmy losing his hands means he’s dead, even though it should. Maggie is such a weak character, and for the first time I liked Angela’s character. The only episode this season that made me geniunly cry.

And my sweet Pepper.
He was so stupid. (Elsa always saying one thing, thinking the complete opposite)
We should all go that way.
His head in the jar.
I don’t like working for other people. I need to be in charge. To have my own show.(Yes)
I went to the place people throw other people away, an orphanage.
My first monster. (Tearing up)
Get your hand off me you pervert. (The whole newspaper scene is genius)
So your parents just let you go off with this man? (For some reason I loved it)
I do know bullshit when I smell it. (What is this, The Help?)
I hate to break it to you, but life is not like the movies. You simple minded idiot. (Loved it)
Don’t talk to my sister like that. (Deserves a point)
Pepper is a gift. (Tearing up again)
Sweet Jesus. (My reaction exactly)
1962. (Poor Pepper, her sister deserves death)
Do I see real remorse? (So clueless and so good at the same time, I forgot how much I loved her character in Asylum)

8.5/10

Nashville 3.10

So give me a shot, as strong as you got. (With you on this one, Sadie)
I just gotta figure out what I wanna do, you know? (Yes)
People magazine? It’s practically paying for our wedding. (Great remark)
We both know who and what Will is. (Perfect)
He doesn’t want me, but I can’t be with anybody else?
What if I promised it will be alright. (Need this song asap)
My uncle’s passed out. I can’t wake him up.
I want you to marry me.
Wha?
Just say yes. (Finally Avery, finally)
I’m not that scared little girl I was 10 yrs ago anymore. (Ouch)
Layla in the pool.
I can’t marry you. (No you can’t)
But I’m not Deacon either, am I?
It’s Deacon. I can’t make you a casulty of my life. (This line)
I now pronounce you husband and wife.
Rayna driving at the end.

7.5/10

Bad Judge 1.09

This show started off so good and now is a complete mess. Such a shame, we love Kate so much.

Hey hey that’s me. That’s my case.
Oh so nunchunks and heroine can walk on in?
Nobody’s doing anything gently for 9 min on youtube.
That little doucheback had it coming.
That’s tough.
Oh God. You lured me into your house.

3.5/10

The Simpsons 26.08

Weakest Christmas episode of the show. After 26 seasons, I still don’t like Moe. And only so little Flanders in a religious episode?

Now for the obligatory Frozen reference.
Mr Scrooge.
If you do it now, you won’t have to watch Superball.
Welcome to bring us your toilet paper. (The only funny line)
You’re alright, stupid Flanders.
No casual racism.
The place to get drunk is at home.

3.5/10

Pretty Little Liars 5.13

‘And in Rosewood, bitches get buried‘ should be the motto of the show. No one will ever convince me to liking Ali. The show was better without her. And Cece. And when did Holbrook hook up with Ali? He knew her before she came and lied about being kidnapped. The show stopped making sense, if it ever did in the first place. What’s up with dead Mona looking like Corpse Bride? I love Ezra hanging out with the kids, it seems right. Is Bethany Mrs D’s second daughter? If she had Jason with Spence’s father she mught have had Bethany, but weren’t she and Alison the same age? Paige leaving seems unnecessary and Hanna standing up for the little girls was the best scene of the entire episode. Isn’t it funny how naive they all are to think the Christmas tree is not from A, after 5 seasons of being tortured? Killing off Mona seems like the stupidest move yet. Now Ali will get her screen time and we just can’t have that. At least Lucas was hilarious as Santa, and I guess what this epispde will leave me with is the Fight Song.

Kisses, M.
Is this us? (How did A do that?)
And the monster was born.
I haven’t signed since fat camp. Merry Christmas.
I’m pretty sure that some kid peed on ne and that mean little girl keeps calling me dumb dumb.
And in Rosewood, bitches get buried.
And all those things I didn’t say, were wrecking balls inside my brain.
I think I just found her.
Alison knew Bethany.
Merry Christmas, bitches. -A.

7/10

Switched at Birth 3.22

I thought the Freaky Friday episode worked so well the first time I watched it, the second time, not so much. But what’s up with adopting a stranger for Christmas? Regina’s reaction was priceless.

I always wanted to have the kind of Christmas you see in the movies.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Who the hell is Regina?
That means the switch never happen.
We’ll cover it up, so she’s not embarrassed in the morning.
What the hell.
Tobias.
Adopt a stranger for Christmas.
We do. We just don’t show it.
I wish we’ve been switched at birth.
What? What did you just say?
Adopt us? We don’t need to be adopted.

5.5/10

Castle 7.10

What was that? Romeo and Juliet? Weakest episode of the series, but somehow Castle managed to get himself kicked out of the precinct.

It’s the daughter.
You were in what?
You are no longer permitted to work with NYPD.

As I just finished advising my mom as to which films from the tv guide she should watch this Christmas, the titles included When Harry Met Sally, While you were sleeping, Pretty Woman, or even Christmas with the Kranks, I opened my WordPress and started writing reviews of the latest films I’ve seen. I figured if I don’t do them minutes after I finish watching, I won’t remember any particular details, and a critic’s review will look a little like a two sentence overview of what any other person ‘liked’ and ‘hated’ two minutes after leaving the theatre. Here’s one of the films.

Gone Girl

I’ll start off by reminding you that David Fincher directed this book adaptation. And from the person who made masterpieces such as Fight Club, Seven or Panic Room, we’d expect something more than a slightly too long, boring at times and, when it comes to the unnecessary goreness, a little ovwr the top. What I absolutely loved about the film, as in comparison to the book, was the titled Gone Girl smiring her blood over the kitchen floor, seconds after inserting a tube into her vein. In the book, Amy was scared of needles and cut her arm open. For David’s sake, I hope it was his idea, and as I reminisce to the excellent films I mentioned above and about five more of his that I have seen, my faith is in save hands. Unfortunately, this later comes to bite us, as no one questions where did the blood come from. In the book she cuts her arm, we can assume the wound is still fresh. In the film, the Gone Girl makes fun of the main cop on her case, persuading everyone into thinking If she didn’t take it into her hands, she would be still strapped to the bed, a necessary and extremely graphic vision comes to mind as she underlines her body laying there spread open. And so everyone feels and guilty and embarassed and never asks another question. Speaking of the loop holes and no one questioning her disappearance, how come the doctor didn’t pick up on the missing miscarriage as rhey were doing the rape kit? I doubt she sustained any serious injuries, as she did get pregnant at the end, so the exam would have noticed the lack of miscarriage, but then again, no one paid much attention, everyone was relieved the case was closed. As to what I found overexcessive were the scenes such as the murder of her ex, right in the middle of sex after performing sexual acts on him, and the breaking the bottle and showing it inside her. The rest, including the hummer scene and the coffee stained night gown and Amy throwing herself all over the place, just so the cameras record her in pain after being allegedly raped, were a perfectly measured amount of grusomeness. We have no way of determining if Gillian Flynn based her book, if so very loosely, on Agatha Christie’s disappearance, but Fincher definitely did, for starters with the Gone Girl using the name of Archie Christie’s lover at the motel, to the money belly sack Agatha was reported having when she was found at the spa back in 1926, eleven days after she went missing. And though in Agatha’s case amnesia and possible suicidal behavior as a result of stress and depression seems to be the explanation of her dissapearance, the Gone Girl, is in fact a psychopath and a killer. I cannot fully figure out what was the point of the Amy’s dissapearance, we can see that she really wanted her husband to pay for his betrayal (as did Christie), in Pike’s performance we could see pure hate towards the husband. The question that bothers me is the reference to rape. By the end of the film, book too as a matter of fact, she lied about bith of her exes raping her. In the book she also lies about her father sexually assaulting her. Why rape? Why were rape and violent sexual acts so significant? Who did really sexually assault her?

‘You. Fucking. Bitch.’

‘All we did was resent each other, try to control each other. We caused each other pain.’
‘That’s marriage.’

Revenge 4.09

Someone’s gonna die again? Please tell me none of the people from the promo. You can take Louise or the FBI agent or the cop. Stay away from Margot and every other supporting character. God, can we get rid of Charlotte, please? The show is much better when we don’t have to deal with her very mediocre drama and drug addiction. It’s episode 4.09 and I finally started liking Daniel. He’s much more fun when he knows everything. Is it possible that I may actually be shipping them? Victoria finally went back to her old ways and called her contact and not just sat there and waited for everything to play out. I got used to having Margot around, even though I could not see the point of keeping her these past two seasons, now she’s one of the characters my life would be a little worse without. Having David as the male lead has too many holes in the storyline. He is not a strong enough character to go anywhere with.
God, I really miss Conrad.

With Amanda. I can’t hold on to hate.
My friends are my family.
Look into her father’s death.
You owe me a reputation, a cell phone and about 20 thousand twitter followers.
I will always watch out for Emily.
September 1st 1993 we were supposed to leave, you, me, Daniel and Amanda.
Madeleine’s ‘Daaavid’.
A tracker in a glass of water.
You want me to call a poor guy and read him his last rights?
We’re the same person.
Tell me, who you’re hunting these days.
The answer is Emily Thorne.
Turns out I only care what my friends think of me.
That’s what retractions are for, no?
We’re both screwed up because of our families.
Because I’m pregnant.
What is it with you and David Clarke?

Bones 10.09

The online traffic cop teaching Booth how to drive was the one perk of this episode. This led Bones to being forced to work with the new guy. Also, Bones was wrong for the very first time. Plus a mediocre case that involved birds, how did I give it a niner? Must got nostalgic about the good old episodes, or the thought that the 200th episode will air next week.

If I wanted to talk squint, I would go to squint land.
Are you studying part A?
Apparently you and I eat different cereals.
Whaaat?
Turns out they were quite helpful.
Until I can judge your value as a colleague.
I don’t really have things.
A lot more interesting than mall walking.
Aubrey, I’m impressed. I will do that.
Domesticating animals is a form of enslaverment.
I need to deal with professor stop and go.
I second that.
Seems like a foolish pursuit.
Dr Brennan is gonna be so impressed.
A gift that conviniently dissappeared.
No, you’re supposed to nod.
You’re supposed to be a genius!
Why are you acting like your hockey team won?
Right now I’d rather arrest the killer and charge him with animal cruelty.
Stand up, I have to arrest you.
This is not your jurisdiction.

Nashville 3.09

This show is always such a surprise. This week, though a little weaker, solved many loop holes, we got rid of Zoey, Layla has a chance at a carreer and so does Scarlett. Isn’t it hilarious they got rid of Zoey the minute they signed a deal with Laura Benanti? Can Rayna sign Scarlett again? Is George right? Is this what she really wants? Will she like it more the second time around? I doubt Rayna is going to marry Luke, they wouldn’t do it to us. Can we take a minute to talk about Julliette in that walking chair completely covered? How hilarious was that? I hate Gunnar for ruining such chance for Scarlett and Avery. Most of artists have children, get over yourself Gunner. Also, I just realized how stupid the kid’s mother was to leave him with Gunnar and so easly ruin his carreer. She knew he was in music industry, every other show that has ever mentioned a musician character also proved that they are not exactly fit to be good parents. At the time she left him, besides thinking how cheesy this storyline is, all I thought was Gunnar is going to be a great dad, but now when he just put his family life over his friends’ carreers? Jeff finally realized Layla has so much more to offer than being an average cover pop star. I am even okay if they want to turn this hook up into a relationship. Layla, who was the most annoying character, until she wrote that song three or so episodes ago, deserves happiness too.

Last time I went to the store to buy soup, some guy asked me if I can get the can open.
Before you read the Rolling Stone.
Oh so he’s obviously trying to make himself attractive to someone.
I can’t believe it took so long to make me look even smaller.
Like a good girl should.
He walked in on Maddie and Luke’s son.
I’m happy to fill in for you. I know all your songs.
There’s more to you than annonymous hook ups.
The amazing Scarlett O’Connor is with us!
You okay?
Yeah, just PTSD. I’m fine.
So you got into music by listening to Joni Mitchel?
The problem was I didn’t have anything to say.
Why am I not letting go? Because I love you.
You’re even better with Scarlett O’Connor.
No, new life.

Castle 7.09

The case was actually quite bearable. Also, I completely get Kate’s relationship with her apartment. She lived there for more than a decade? (Is it the same one she had before it burned down or did she move along the way?) I always get so angry when my father threatens to sell my childhood apartment. Even though he was military and lived aborad at times, we never moved and even though I haven’t lived there for years, I am very much attached to my childhood home. Even though I don’t even live in my country anymore and never will, the thought of always having a place to come back to is what keeps me sane, as I deal with life disapointments. If I lose the apartment, It’s like none of the risks I took ever mattered. Now back to Castle, since I don’t remember if Kate moved back in season two, I clearly need a rewatch. Maybe I’ll appreciate the show more when I remember the emotions it used to bring me. Kate made me reminisce to the good old Doc Martens’ days, god I miss my Docs.

Used to rock that with my Doc Martens.
We can hear everything Mr Kubiak does in his bathroom.
I had her poster on my wall for like!… a minute.
Despite of being an ex-goat hurter.
And a goat hunter.
Earlogy.
How’d you know that?
FBI seminar.
When? On her way to jail?
That’s because that’s exactly how it does look.
My opinion is not affected by her shimp outfit.
Along with your poster.
This is where you rebuilt your life. Where you solved your mother’s murder.
To the best apartment ever.
I had hard kill pajamas.
You’re my boyhood dream.
I’m starring in my own action movie.
I just found something very interesting.
Identity of our killer?
And reward you for your semi-illegal behaviour?

American Horror Story 4.08

And we got to this time of year, when AHS characters start dying one by one every episode, till Jessica Lange’s character dies in the finale. I am surprised they killed Kathy Bates’ charcter so early in the show, but Ethel did not bring anything to the storyline, well ever, to be honest. Jessica’s fake and overdramatic reaction to her death was so perfectly acted out, I could not stop admiring the scene. ‘Oh I could have helped you’ had me laughing out loud. I could not be more angry with them killing Frances Conroy’s character so soon. As one of the original and recuring every season, she should have stayed till the very end. I am liking the Freakshow so much more than Coven. They brought the Axe Man back from Coven for a small cameo performance. Don’t we just love the 21st century and how easily Grace Gummer’s character could cope with the face tatoo, by simply using white ink (probably better effect than removing) and lots of make up. It woukd not be much of an issue, since she already has a guy she loves, who is in love with her (how did he survive without medical attention, we’ll never know). Kudos to the writers for another AHS paraller. I am scared to think who they’re gonna kill next. Not Amazon Eve, I beg you. Erika brings hope and inspiration to all.

Just a mother’s intuition.
Looks like an animal took her.
Go forbid someone comes along and steals your spotlight.
I am just like the rest of my children.
So we all were, Elsa. All of is. No one is innocent anymore.
Chuckling her bloody dress , that was a nice touch.
Shit.
Her head has come off.
Where’s your sense of drama?
This is not a theatre.
You’re gonna win an Oscar one day.
Oh Ethel, why!? Why!? I could have helped you!
My mother went to buy squash?
That girl is every last one of us.
It’s going to be a very messy clean up.
You’re spirited.
That’s a laugh. Where’s my mother? She ain’t buying squash.
All you have to do is kill Regina.
I’m bringing you to sit on my lap.
But I like me this way.
What if I tell you there’s a place for where every pound will be cheered and celebrated.
All 800 pounds of her.
You are no good to us without your figure.
You drank your dinner.
Look who ain’t dead yet.
This is freak women only.

Parenthood 6.09

Furious about Sarah not ending up with Mark. He only shows up to break our hearts all over again by updating us about his happy life.

So good. That was so good.
What’s your next class?
It’s hot.
What did you call me? (Lorelai/Luke flashbacks all the way)
I’m so excited I can’t wait to see her.
He’s speechless.
Step on the gas.
That’s the English teacher? Hi… hot!
I am more hygenic than he is. (please Max, you just started showering, last season)
Were you waving to the hot English teacher?
She knows him. They dated. They were engaged.

I think this is a case of absentee parents trying to blame someone for their absence (Adam is back after what seems like an entire season just to… kill it)
It’s been really eye-opening.
Look, there are no cookies. Game’s over, boy. (Camille’s first good scene since, well, ever)
It’s not booked or anything.
Oh good, it’s not gonna be booked.
Can you just make sure the credit card doesn’t come out?
You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me. (Just when I was missing Sarah/Mark)
Some of those kids, right?
I felt like I didn’t deserve to be in your life, Julia. I love you so much. I’m never gonna stop loving you.
I understand that Max can’t help it.
They never listen! They don’t get that it’s the first place in five years that actually helped me.
That’s confusing.
I was only trying to do nice things.
This is gonna sound weird, but I’m glad I knew you.
I’m glad I knew you, too. I’m very glad I knew you.
You’re happy, right? I have baggage and I’m weird. Do you think your life would be better if you chose him?

Only if she wants to see me.
See you tommorrow at school, Asbergers.
It’s okay. In her case it’s a term of endearment, so I understand and take no offense.

You asked me if I’m happy. I’m happy. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be.
Camille, Camille. Call an ambulance. I can’t breathe.

Greys 11.08

The last 2 minutes made me cry like a little baby I was 11 seasons ago. This show will always be more important to me than my life. All the flashbacks to the most important moments of Meredith’s life accompanied by a hearbreaking voiceover left me utterly breathless.

I know how fo read a brain scan, Derek. I learned from the best, remember?
I just said I don’t want to know.
Marry the work, Rollins. It’s always there for you.
So by nothing you mean everything?
Oh good idea. Just sit still and stare. Like a creep.
What’s that and why do you keep drinking it.

We’re all a risk. We all have something.
A fellow of Dr Shepherd.
It’s spectacular.
Robbins, occupied.
She is the head and Derek is not.
You could try. She’s open to ideas.
Oh shut up.
What are we to you? Trash? You just move on to the next one?
You will figure it out.
You too.
Do you miss me? At all?
Of course.
Just not enough.
Welcome to my life.
They’re both so much like their mother.
I’m gonna screw as many Grahams as I want.
God can you keep something in your head for like two seconds?
911 for this?
What if it was me?
Or someone really good like Bailey?
And screw you.
Shepherd screwed me again.
I’m not gonna care how that sounds.
Okay. Now I’m bored.
Sorry, kale rage talking.
You have people, right?
Do you? Have people?
Let me know if you need people. I’m around.
Stop throwing football at my face.
It worked.
So, what does it mean? What do we take away? Which pieces will haunt us? Hurt us? End us? Inspire us? The carousel never stops turning. You can’t get off.

That work related?
Guys what is this? Celebrity nudes task force?

It ain’t easy.
That changes everything.
How the hell did they get that?
The old fashioned way, they paid for it.
I was raised the same way.
Just because a person can’t admit, or is in denial about the abuse, does not mean the abuse didn’t happen or won’t worsen.
That’s not what I saw on video.
Yes, and I’ve heard that before.

I won’t ask more about Seargeant’s double standards.
Savior of damaged women.
Some of us don’t need to be saved.

That doesn’t bother you?
You can’t take this job home. You can’t take anyone from this job home.
Physical violence is a crime, even if she’s ‘just’ his wife.
You think he was beating me up? What do you think you did?

You tweeted the picture of this view, hashtag #neverleaving.
Turns out she has one.
She took everything from us.
I cleared your name.

I was never here.
Until I heard my name cleared. That was your doing, wasn’t it? I am so proud of you, Amanda.
I love you, Amanda. Infinity times infinity.

Can I just have a normal friend?
Start talking.

We’re gonna be at every school play, graduation and hockey game.
I doubt that very much.
I don’t think yiu understand infants.
That’s foolish and ignorant.
Wait, didn’t Daisy ask for a general anestisia when she had her tooth filled?
Is there anything I can do?
Maybe just keep telling her she’s ignorant, stuff like that.
Should I go now and tell her that she’s ignorant?
And this appointment is with a real doctor?
You’re an addict.
Oh shut up.
Bones this is really not the time.
He looks like Sweets.
He’s Seely Lance Wick Sweets.

Do you condemn this outrageous behavior?

Rayna looks so beautiful.
I must thank the one and only Deacon Claybourne
So what is he saying, Rayna wouldn’t have done it without him?
She makes it look so easy.

It’s just always so damn lonely.
Is it just me or do they really not seem happy right now?
I’m not my father and you are not your mother. We’re us.
There’s plenty of sunshine for all of us.

This seems cruel to James.
A kill card.
You have a finger?
The sun came down a while ago and it’s not coming back up.
Today I’m a joke. A punchline.
Thank you for your service.
Yes, Leo Burgen.
At his house? All night?
Yes.
Could you be more ungrateful?
Girl, you need to move on.
He ruined you.
So what? That’s how it is.

I’m just saying, he fell.
I was protecting Laurel.
She was.
Shouldn’t we be calling an ambulence?
You mean police, idiot. He’s dead.

We could be charged with fellony murder.
I’m like the most grown up grown up of all of you assholes.
What do you suggest?
Something that doesn’t involve carrying a body across the campus on the busiest night of the year.

This is murder, none of us knows what we’re talking about.
We have the whole night to dig.
I’m a grown ass woman.
Just come here, you idiot.
We all had to do things tonight we did not want to do.
Enough about the ring, Frodo.

I’m so sorry.

Welcome to ReviewThisFilm

This website started as weekly reviews on movies and tv episodes, and a diary of the 700 new films I watched every year. Today it’s a place for me to write a few words on films and tv shows that leave some sort of impact on me. I no longer write in depth reviews, partially thanks to bad habits gained by spending many hours a day on Letterboxd, and partially because of my demanding day job.

If you have a film you would like me to watch and review,  please leave a comment.

Enjoy!

About me

I am the dark and twisty Meredith Grey, the mad Dexter Morgan, hoping to grow up to be a little more like the wise, but fun Nora Walker. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My favorite actresses are Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. Favorite genre – psychological drama. I watch anything with a sexual or mental abuse plot. I used to be a horror freak. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy, SVU and many more. My other interests include making oil and pencil portraits and wildlife conservation. I cannot say no to beautiful landscapes, travel, Aussie accent, TV/film quotes and avocados. I have recently moved back from Australia to the UK. I’ve been running this blog for the last 9 years. Here I comment on films and episodes I watch. Enjoy! – Joanne

favourite film and tv quotes

‘When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I’ve met you and moved to Sydney, I haven’t listened to one Abba song. That’s because my life is as good as an Abba song. It’s as good as Dancing Queen.’ (Muriel’s Wedding)

‘I used to think about
your life in New York. I tried to imagine your room. I kept track of the time difference, so I  knew when you were awake and when you were asleep.’ (Disobedience)

‘Nothing’s clean, Howard. But we do our best, right?’ (The Aviator)

‘No, I’m not quitting. I don’t quit things.’
‘No, actually you do. Your mother quit your father. Your father quit you. You quit your boyfriend and if I read your hospital chart correctly you quit your life momentarily on a couple of occasions. You quit. It’s what you know how to do.’ (Greys)

‘Where the hell was I that year?’
‘Your were watching television’. (Everybody Loves Raymond)

‘It’s impossible to worry about anything else when there’s blood coming out of you.’
(Short Term 12)

‘I wanted it to happen. And when we were girls… Even then, it was the same. It’s always been this way! I have always wanted it.’ (Disobedience)

‘Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you play games in your head. You make up someone, someone good.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a moment when our lives change forever. The moment we admit our weaknesses, the moment we rise to a challenge, the moment we accept a sacrifice, or let a loved one go. And sometimes the change in our lives is an answer to our prayers.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Yesterday I went to the movies all day by myself. One after the other. I’ve never done that before. I had a really happy day.’ (Doing Time for Patsy Cline)

‘I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope. And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed a feel like I might die today.’ (Greys)

‘She saved me my whole life. Without her, I’m nothing.’ (The Favourite)

‘Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.’  (Greys)

‘Bree sobbed quietly in the restroom for five miutes, but her husband never knew, because when Bree finally emerged, she was perfect.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘I am not food, you cannot just eat and eat.’ (The Favourite)

‘I don’t love him.’
‘Of course you do.’
‘No!’
‘Don’t take me for a fool Olive,  I’m many things but I’m not a fool.’
‘I know that, you’re brilliant.’
‘Don’t you see, it’s over. Whatever this is, was, it’s over.’
‘I love You.’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing, is reason enough to celebrate.’ (Greys)

‘Many years ago, a neighbour and a good friend of ours took her life, and that left us all heartbroken and perplexed. But somehow, when I was alone in that hotel room, I forget about all the pain that she caused. In those awful moments, I thought maybe she had the answer.‘ (Desperate Housewives)

‘What happened last year when you fell in the water?’
‘I almost drowned. Do you think I did that for kicks?’
‘You put your hand in a body cavity that contained unexploded ammunition.’
‘I was trying to save a patient!’
‘Why is it that every other person in that room had the sense to hit the deck? You know people run away from this line between life and death. You seem to stand on it and wait for a strong wind to sway you one way or the other. You’re careless with your life. You’re not slitting your wrists but you’re careless. Probably because your mother told you you were a waste of space on this planet. The problem is you believed her. And if you don’t want out one of these days you’re going to die because of it.’  (Greys)

‘This is the street where I used to live and these were the people with whom I shared my life. I met them the day they moved in. And I saw what they brought with them. Beautiful dreams for the future. And quiet hopes for a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children, too. If I could, would I tell them what lies ahead? Would I warn them of the sorrow and betrayal that lie in store? No. From where I stand now, I see enough of the road to understand how it must be traveled. The trick is to keep moving forward, to let go of the fear and the regret that slow us down and keep us from enjoying a journey that will be over too soon. Yes, there will be unexpected bends in the road, shocking surprises we didn’t see coming, but that’s really the point. Don’t you think?’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Was your life not working when you let that slip out from under you?’
‘When are you going to stop suggesting that I’m suicidal?’
‘When you start acting like someone that wants to be alive.’
‘Give me my chart.’
‘Why?’
‘Because I’m not suicidal, and if it says that I am, then it’s wrong.’ (Greys)

‘There is nothing wrong with me.’
‘Then show me your arm.’ (Degrassi)

‘Look, my whole life, I have been the freak. The girl who nobody picked for dodgeball. The girl who didn’t have a mom. The girl who dressed funny because it was her dad buying her clothes. And then, tonight I looked at these people, and I thought maybe there’s a future where I don’t have to be a freak. Maybe I can be who I am and that’s okay.’ (Everything Sucks)

‘Dr, I have been this way since…since I can remember. There is no cure.’ (American Horror Story)

‘He was so crazy about me, I couldn’t breathe. So we tried drinking our way back into love, but it never made sense in the morning. So I ran. And every time I came back, he was here. And he was still crazy about me.’ (My Blueberry Nights)

‘Bree van de Kamp had always wanted to live her life with elegance and grace. That is also how she wanted to die. Her plan was to pour herself a glass of her favorite chardonnay, put on her most stylish nightgown and leave behind a note on embossed stationery.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘All we have is this moment. The future is just a fucking concept that we use to avoid being alive today. So be… here…. now.’ (Six Feet Under)

‘On the train coming here, we were in the same cart, I saw you, you were reading and you feel asleep. I didn’t dare to look at you, you were so beautiful, it was scary. Afterwards,  I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It made me smile. Then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who’d make you laugh. How lucky they were.’ (Enemy at the Gates)

‘It was a good day. Maybe even a great day. Even when it was hard, I was the me in my head. There was a moment when I thought I cant do this, I cant do this alone. I close my eyes and imagine myself doing it, and I did, I blocked out the fear, and I did it.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a time when we must expose our weaknesses. When our secrets can no longer remain private, when our solitude can no longer be denied, when our pain can no longer be ignored, but sometimes we feel so alone that a weakness we thought we’d overcome suddenly becomes too strong to fight.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Why did you get married, Esti? Why didn’t you just leave? So everything was all right when I left?’
‘No. I was ill.’
‘What sort of ill?’
‘In my head.’
‘If I had to sleep with a man, why not with our best friend?’
‘Oh, Esti…’
‘It hasn’t been a complete disaster.’
‘And that’s enough?! Do you have to have sex every Friday?’
‘It’s expected.’
‘It’s medieval. What happened to you?’
‘Nothing. You happened to me. And then I started teaching and that became important. I give them ambition.’
‘To do what? Push out seven babies and be a good wife?’
‘Don’t. Don’t. I help them to value themselves.’
‘Okay, but what about you?’
‘That is me. And you? Are you happy?’
‘Yes, I am.’
‘Have you been with other women?’
‘No. Not really. And you?’
‘No.’
‘But, Esti… Do you still
only fancy women?’ (Disobedience)

‘OK, then, listen. Let’s not get caught.’
‘What are you talkin’ about?’
