This year I’ve given up a few shows. I was struggling to find time to watch them, I wasn’t head over heels about the characters, so I’ve made an executive decision to cut down my loses. Shows I followed last year, but don’t anymore: The Rookie, Seal Team, The Good Doctor and Mr. Mercedes.

To see my review of 2018, click on the following link: https://joanneholly.com/2018/12/30/tv-shows-of-2018/

Last year I followed 41 shows, this year, 50.

Below are the 50 TV shows I followed this year:

1. Grey’s Anatomy

I am still sad about Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew being written off. I have mixed feelings about the show allegedly ending after season 17. Greys hasn’t been ‘Greys good’ since Season 9 and yet it’s still my favourite and it will always stay that way. Season 16 so far focuses on the crime Meredith commited last season, the insurance fraud. It’s quite surprising how this storyline mirrors the Varsity Blues scandal. Mer has done a lot of community hours and has spent a night in jail. From the looks of the midseason finale, that’s all behind us now. They have sent Betty away at the end of season 15 and she hasn’t been back to visit since. I am glad Teddy is back and I hope she never leaves. Avery is slowly becoming the most annoying character, changing his mind when it comes to relationships. Still no development on Helm and her crush on Meredith, we’ll see where they go with this. Is Helm going to be with Karina by the end of the season? I am not a fan of splitting the staff between Grey Sloan and the second hospital, but I’m guessing Grey Sloan will buy the new undeveloped one and then merge the two?

2. SVU

Season 21 and we’re making history! I just love this show. Carissi is now an ADA, and we have a new detective I’m not fond off. Fall season ended on a cliffhanger featuring Amanda and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

3. Shameless

Shameless started quite late this year, and without Emmy Rossum. Ian is back and the show is still the same, and still as exciting as ever. I’m really disappointed with how Debbie is spending the 50 grand she got from Fiona and how Frank messed it all up for her. I really thought she would ensure the money lasts them a year or two. I’m happy with how the rest of the Gallagher’s lifes are going, including the fact that Lip is now a dad!

4. Fuller House

I’m sad it’s the show’s last season. The nostalgia Fuller House brought in 2014, was something I never thought I needed. 2019 wasn’t a good year for this Full House fan. If I wasn’t a Full House fan, I wouldn’t be going through a heartbreak this year. Aunt Becky was why I got so invested in the show. Season 1 wasn’t really a family show, the three main characters kept sleeping around and other than two or three episodes, the show was boring. From the minute Aunt Becky showed up, the show got interesting. Years later, as a teenager, I watched The New Kids, and became a Lori Loughlin fan and followed every single one of her projects.

5. Carol’s Second Act

Patricia Heaton is back on my TV screen, so everything’s going to be okay. I miss The Middle, and I think my mum misses it even more. It also stars Twin Peak’s Kyle MacLachlan. Carol’s Second Act is a sitcom, and even though it’s nowhere near as good as The Middle, or Everybody Loves Raymond, it’s still a funny show and a great way to spend the 20 minutes a week.

6. American Horror Story

Sarah Paulson wasn’t back for this awful season, at least she’s shooting another two Ryan Murphy shows, Ratched and season 3 of American Crime Story, so at least there’s something to look out for. American Horror Story used to be one of my favourite shows, but sadly this season is extremely weak, everyone was dead by episode 5 and everyone was a ghost by episode 5 as well! I liked the aerobic sequences in the very first episode. I really thought it would be a Friday the 13th type of slasher like the promos suggested.

7. Crikey it’s the Irwins

This show is a delight! Nothing will stop me from revisiting Australia Zoo every time I go to Australia on a holiday. As a vegan of 9 years, I should stand against all zoos, but this series proves all the good zoos do for animal conservation. Even though guests visit, Australia Zoo is really a giant sanctuary. In the second season the Irwins are preparing for Australia Zoo’s 50th anniversary, by renovating the croc enclousure. In order to get the contractors in, they need to move all the crocs, including the biggest and the most aggressive crocs in the zoo. A beloved zebra from season 1 needs to be put down, and Terri goes back to her hometown Oregon to visit a wildlife sanctuary were her cougar Malina spent her final years. Bindi gets engaged and I just hope they show us the wedding when the show comes back for season 3. I also wish there were more episodes in the season.

8. Orange is the New Black

It ended and there will never be a show so raw and brilliant. I cannot even begin to explain what an important place this show has in my heart. Every time I hear someone say they don’t like the show because it mainly has women in it or when they say they’re not going to watch the show because of all the gay characters, I feel personally offended. I am still tearing up thinking of Dockett’s tragic end. I also hate what they’ve done to Red, Lorna and Maritza. Some pars of the ending made me happy though, for example the fact that Alex is back with her crew. I still wish they had shown us more of Big Boo and other original characters.

9. When Calls the Heart

I will never get over the fact that Abigail is not coming back. And Cody, the Culkin lookalike was taken off the show because of the Lori Loughlin scandal too. I will keep watching as long as Rosemary is there. I’ve watched 2 episodes of When the Heart Calls, the web series spin off about the orphanage a few towns from Hope Valley, but I didn’t like it at all. I’ve gotten used to the two new male characters. I doubt Netflix will add the new season to its selection, as they’ve always done it around October time.

10. Station 19

Season two was alright, but season 3 was delayed until 2020. The show’s creator left to pursue something else, which is quite odd as she’s only done 2 seasons, so from next year the show will be ran by Krista Vernoff who has been running Grey’s Anatomy, after Shonda Rhimes’s departure. One of the characters is now a quest star on Greys.

11. The Handmaid’s Tale

I even got my mom into this show! And Christopher Meloni was in 2 or 3 episodes, playing a role completely opposite from his SVU’s Elliott Stabler, a rapist! Alexis Bledel’s character got a satisfying ending, and the scene where Canadian border police officers ask her whether she’s going to be in danger if she was to be sent back to her country and she says yes, this is simply my favourite scene of the entire 2019.

12. One Day At a Time

After a quite boring season 3, and Netflix’s cancellation, the show was saved by POP and will be returning in 2020! I am still not a fan of the annoying girlfriend, but everything this shows says about immigration, PTSD and LGTBQ issues is on point.

13. The Insatiable

Season 2 differed from season 1 in the most important way, it focused on the main character, Patty’s binge eating disorder. Patty joins Overeaters Anonymous and learns the cause of her addiction to food. Yes, it’s still crazy when it comes to her psychotic behaviour resulting in murdering people, but most of the season is about her BED, and that makes it interesting.

14. The Unbelievable

A TV show about a girl who thinks she’s been raped, comes forward, and then revokes her statement, 5 times. Then two lady cops try to solve a series of rapes and eventually come across the main character’s statement. Netflix’s best show of 2019, it’s just amazing and Short Term 12 and Booksmart’s Kaitlyn Dever delivers a beautiful performance.

15. Big Little Lies

The show came back after 2 years, to finish what it started, it was better than season 1 because we didn’t have to sit through hours of sex and abuse.

16. Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath

This show was a hit for me. I’ve only learned about it in February, and watched all 3 seasons in two weeks. I’ve since read Leah Remini’s book ‘Troublemaker’. I am really sad to see this show go, it’s extremely informative and brings hope to victims of Scientology. It’s my favourite discovery of 2019.

17. The Goldbergs

It’s still good, but it feels like they have run out of nostalgic 80s memorbilia last season.

18. Schooled

Lanie’s spin off is now in its second season. It’s not as good as The Goldbergs, but It’s only 20 minutes a week, which makes it watchable. AJ and Aly Michalka released a single last summer, that was undoubtedly my song of summer 2019. It’s called Church and it’s amazing.

19. How to Get Away with Murder

Thank goodness it’s the last season. The first 3 seasons were great, but anything from season 4 has been bad. Someone’s killed Annalise? What was the point of the series then?

20. Killing Eve

I still haven’t caught up with season 2 fully, but I’ve been a fan of Jodie Colmer since ‘Thirteen’.

21. Ozark

My dad’s favourite show. Julia Garner is killing it every single episode. Where’s season 3?

22. Good Girls

Beth and the dealer hooked up, and Season 2 was quite different, but still entertaining.

23. Thirteen Reasons Why

I loved the first 2 seasons, but this was a mess. Why introduce a new character, and give them ALL screen time?

24. This is Us

3 more seasons yes please! I am just not okay with the writers telling us about Rebecca’s death so early in the series.

25. 911

Never disappoints with the drama, I mean the freaking tsunami blew my mind!

26. The Resident

I think I am okay with whom they killed off in the first episode, but this season introduced us to a new doctor that’s an even more arrogant copy of the new doctor they introduced last season.

27. Modern Family

Final season is here and it’s just as mediocre as everything else after season 3.

28. For the People

Sadly this Shondaland show starring Britt Robertson has been cancelled. I feel like I was the only one watching it.

29. Chernobyl

A mini docuseries from HBO everyone loves, and rightfully so.

30. Riverdale

I’m just not into it anymore. I liked season 1 and that’s it. I liked the Luke Perry tribute, but I haven’t had the time to watch all of it.

31. The Simpsons

Awesome as always. Sixty seasons should be enough for me.

32. The Good Fight

I still haven’t caught up.

33. The Good Place

They keep resetting the afterlife and it’s all the same at this point.

34. Veronica Mars

I’m just happy they didn’t kill Keith Mars, and I like the noir aspects of this season.

35. Absentia

I still haven’t fully caught up, I will update once I do.

36. F For Family

It’s a funny show and I cannot wait for season 4. I wish the main character still worked at the airport, all this vending machine business wasn’t very entertaining.

37. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I like it when it’s darker, but I just cannot stand Kiernan’s wig.

38. Divorce

The Sarah Jessica Parker show has ended and the ending surprised me. I will miss the dark humour.

39. Younger

The secret is out, Liza’s secret was exposed and she no longer has to hide. I’m a fan of Liza and Charles, but this wasn’t a good season. Kelsey makes a dumb social media mistake and gets demoted from publisher back to editor. Diana gets married. The Irish girlfriend’s baby storyline doesn’t give immigrants a good rep.

40. When They See Us

I watched it for Vera Farmiga and I knew about this case from Law and Order: Special Vicitms Unit.

41. Looking For Alaska

I used to know this girl who was obssesed with this book and always said Looking For Alaska is John Green’s best work. I haven’t read the book, so I can just rate the story for what the show is. As a child of immigrants, who don’t speak the language, I related to one of the characters. Sometimes the pressure of your family’s livelihood depending on you is too much. I know it’s got to me a few times when I had to figure out what to do in stressful situations I wouldn’t have been in had i known my family was safe and happy among their own. Acting as a translator for your family can have damaging effects on you, when your family’s health andlivelihood is at stake.

42. Dead to Me

‘Married With Children’ ‘s Christina Applegate and ‘Freaks and Geek’s Linda Cardelini return to TV in this dramedy about a woman who befriends her hit and run victim’s wife. Great acting from both, I’m really sad Linda didn’t get a Golden Globe nomination for her prformance.

43. Soundtrack

Madeleine Stowe is back! I remember when she retired back in the early 2000s and I kept checking up on her non existent projects while she was retired on her Texas ranch. Thankfully she returned to acting and starred in Revenge, portraying one of the best characters on television. When Revenge ended in 2015 I thought, well that’s it, she’s gonna go back to her retirement, but she didn’t! She just took a 4 year break and now she’s back! It looks like Madeleine’s husband, Dream On and Private Practice’s Brian Benben is currently on a break himself. Anyway, I’m a huge fan, and could talk about Madeleine’s filmography for hours.

Soundtrack, originally called Mixtape, is a new Netflix show about stars Madeleine Stowe, Jenna Dewan (is this why she left The Resident?) and Gradfathered’s Christina Millian.

The pilot episode has a depressing ‘This is Us’ twist. Jenna Dewan’s character’s name is Joanna (heck yes!) and she’s a dancer. Above I mention how watching season 2 of The Resident made me think of Step Up every single episode. To see Jenna’s character’s dance audition sequence to a Kelly Clarkson song of all artists, satisfied my 2006 Step Up obsession, and she dances in this show, a lot. The show features a lot of cool mash ups, and includes songs from Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Duffy, Demi Lovato to so many different genres and I will be rewatching the dance sequences a lot. I was really looking forward to seeing Marcia Cross when I noticed this title was added to her filmography on IMDB, but she only lends her voice to a character that’s a supporting’s character’s mother and only has one short conversation with that character, over the phone.

There’s going to be a similar show starting next month, called Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist starring Jane Levy and Lauren Graham, that I just cannot wait to start watching.

‘Every song is a love song’.

‘This is breathtaking, why would you ever give this up?’

44. The Politician

You know I’ll watch anything from the Murphy/Falchuk duo. It’s an average show, my least favourite from them, even lower on my list than Scream Queens. I don’t like how they used a porodied version of Gypsy Blanchard’s story in the show. We’ve seen in in The Act this year and The Act is not only an incredible mini series, but it’s also respectful and true to the story. The Politician’s secret weapon is, same as with American Horror Story, the marvelous Jessica Lange, so you know I’m gonna watch it. Speaking of the Murphy/Falchuk universe, I cannot believe we need to wait until September 2020 for American Crime Story to return.

45. The Act

A beautiful mini series about the tragic Gypsy Blanchard story with incredible performances from Joey King and Patricia Arquette. It’s my second favourite mini series of the year and eagerly waited for next episode every week.

46. The Morning Show

This Apple show starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston focuses on a made up news show, and the behind the scenes sexual harassment. It’s clearly inspired by the Fox scandal, but it’s different from The Loudest Voice. In the last episode Jennifer’s character loses it and exposes everything, it’s a superb episode I’m happy there’s going to be season 2.

47. The Society

A modern Lord of the Flies meets Lost. I enjoyed this show the minute Kathryn Newton’s character executed one of the other characters.

48. Light as a Feather

I have been following Liana Liberato’s career since ‘Trust’. It’s not a good series, but it’s eight 20 minute episodes, and there are worse ways to spend your weekend.

49. Grace and Frankie

A brilliant show from the creators of Friends. I’ve been watching it since it came out back in 2016 and can’t get enough of it! Can’t wait for January when the show’s back!

50. The Loudest Voice

No way Bombshell is going to be half this good. Best friends Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts ended up playing the same character this year, Gretchen Carlson. Showtime’s The Loudest Voice is a 7 episode series about the Fox News sexual harassment.

Shows I need to catch up on (to some extent):

How to Get Away With Murder
Killing Eve
This is Us
Riverdale
Absentia
The Good Fight
Gentleman Jack
I Am the Night

I think Hollywood Darlings has been cancelled? There’s no news online, but there were no episodes released this year and Jodie Sweetin is now doing this podcast I don’t listen to.

I hope you enjoyed this post. One of my resolutions for 2020 is to go back to reviewing TV shows on a weekly basis, because I’ve caught myself a few times trying to remember the episode something happened in and had to google it every time. Had I stuck to reviewing episodes week by week, I would have quickly looked it up here.

Have a wonderful 2020!

These past few days I’ve been rewatching Veronica Mars, and catching up on many Charlie Chaplin films. I’m trying to watch full filmographies of 10 directors. I am also captivated by Leah Remini’s Scientology and Aftermath A&E series. The best film I watched at the pictures in the recent weeks is Midsommar, a quick review of it can be found below. Three of my summer shows ended, Orange is the New Black, Big Little Lies and Divorce. The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 ends next week.

midsommar am f annabelle

Midsommar

A group of young adults, including two antropology students goes on trip to Sweden to take part in a summer festival. The film is so brilliant, it’s even better than Ari Aster’s previous horror attempt, the amazingly creepy, Hereditary! The cliff scene was shot so amazingly, you knew exactly what would happen, yet you were glued to the screen with eyes wide open and just like the characters, became witness to the goriest deaths of the film. The audience laughed when the elderly lady pushed the boyfriend’s buttocks to ‘help him’, but the cliff scene is what will stick with you for years.

9/10

American Fable

A young girl living in a fantasy world is faced with a wake up call when she finds a man inprisoned in her family’s silo. The little girl is played by Grey’s and Everything Sucks’s Peyton Kennedy. It’s a beautiful horror/thriller and I loved every minute of it.

8/10

Annabelle Comes Home

Lorraine and Ed’s daughter Judy is left in the house with a babysitter and her nosy friend. The friends decides to go into what is now known as Warren’s ‘Occult Museum’ and touch everything. This awakens Annabelle. Mckeena Grace known from The Gifted and Fuller House plays Jane, while Vera and Patrick return. I really hope Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson never quit The Conjuring world, because these films are simply amazing.

RIP, Lorraine Warren.

‘Welcome To The Home Of The Conjuring Universe’

‘There is a lot of evil in this room. But you know what I actually like about it? All the evil in here reminds me of all the good that’s out there.’

‘What else did you touch?’
‘Everything.’

‘Are you a doctor or something?’
‘Or something.’

‘Did it work?’
‘The evil is contained.’

‘It’s the doll, Ed. It’s a beacon for other spirits.’

toy st lion.jpg child

Toy Story 4

Woody looks after Bonnie’s new toy, Forky. Within a week of watching Toy Story 4, I’ve decided to rewatch the 1st and 2nd Toy Story. Woody and Buzz’s inability to escape from their neighboor’s cellar makes me question their outdoors escapades in the next 3 films. Also the animation back in the 90s was very limited, whereas here, it really is lifelike. Toy Story 4’s ending made me cry just as much as the previous one. The evil doll Gabby Gabby voiced by Christina Hendricks was the most precious one of all.

‘She’ll be okay. Bonnie will be okay.’

‘Does this mean… Woody’s a lost toy?’
‘He’s not lost. Not anymore. To infinity…’
‘…and beyond.’

7/10

The Lion King

Remake of the original The Lion King. You cannot deny that the live action here is breathtaking, but this is not a good remake. Other than the cute, life-like animals, this version doesn’t bring anything new to the story. If anything, it helped me realise the story was very simplistic all along. I admitt, I dozed off 20 minutes in, but I’m glad I woke up just in time for the stampede scene, which was amazing. If you see this at Odeon, don’t forget to pick up your A3 poster, with the furry trio, Simba, Pumbaa and Timon.

5/10

Child’s  Play

A boy is given an Alexa type AI doll, that turns deadly. I went in expecting to hate it and was nicely surprised by how gory the last act was. Sadly, the doll was ugly and not creepy at all. The doll being possessed by a serial killer is what made the franchise creepy, the 21st century Aritficial Intelligence upgrade isn’t that intriguing.

The Last Movie Star

An elderly movie star is invited to a film festival. He doesn’t know it’s not a real festival. Burt Reynolds gives his last performance, accompanied by Moder Family’s Ariel Winter. I cried through the entire thing. RIP, Burt.

7/10

Spoor

Hunters start dropping dead, it looks like the animals may be finally getting their revenge. I’ve been vegan for 9 years, and vegeterian for more than I can count, so this film is perfect for me. If you’re against hunting, this Polish film from Agnieszka Holland is for you.

9/10

War Games

A teenager accidentaly accesses military system and thinks he’s embarked on a series of tests for military to train on. Tic Tac Toe really is the dumbest game of all. WarGames was quite entertaining and made me wish I was still a teenager. It’s also 300th new film I’ve seen this year.

7/10

iloveyounowdie love story easy rider

I love you, Now Die. The Commonwealth v. Michelle Carter

A brilliant HBO documentary about Michelle Carter who encouraged her clinically depressed boyfriend Conrad Roy III to take his own life. I’ve been following this case closely since 2014 and yet I didn’t know anything about Michelle’s obsession with Glee, The Fault in Our Stars and her lesbian tendencies.

8/10

Love Story

Two young adults fall in love, soon one of the falls ill. I’m a little biased, because my dad listened to and hummed the Love Story theme for a big part of my childhood. But as much as my dad and I both liked Ryan O’Neal in Paper Moon, the Love Story theme, is the best thing about this classic romance.

6/10

Easy Rider

Two men ride Peter Fonda motorbikes, get high, hookup with girls and talk to locals they meet during their road trip across America. Then they have long night chats, that are equally boring. I don’t like stoners and hippies, so the ending was oddly understandable.

5/10

escaping wake wood the llst word

Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story

A reporter volunteers to be locked in a mental hospital to write an article. I couldn’t figure out if it’s more American Horror Story Asylum or The Handmaid’s Tale. This film, starring Christina Ricci, Judith Light and Revenge’s Joshua Bowman, wasn’t very good, but I was still surprised to find this story on Lifetime.

5/10

Wake Wood

What would you do to get 3 days with your dead loved one? Would you sacrifice your own life? Parents of a girls killed in a dog attack decide to bring her back for 3 days. The last 5 seconds were definitely the most intriguing and I wish they showed us what he cut out.

5/10

The Last Word

An elderly woman asks an orbituary writer to write and orbituary for her, and send for approval, before her death. I knew I would like it the minute the kid started swearing. And then Shirley McClaine told her not to, and the film slowly began to fall apart. I was highly disappointed with  Amanda Seyfried’s acting in this.

‘Just because that’s the way it’s always been, don’t mean I give a shit.’

‘What the fuck do I need with the decimal?’

‘The Fuck?’

Yet another year is coming to an end. It was a year rich in TV Shows. The below is a list of shows I followed and cared about this year. I haven’t done weekly episode reviews all year, so below is a little sum up of what I thought of each show. There were honestly so many of them, I just couldn’t find time for weekly posts. These are the 41 shows I followed in 2018.

  1. Greys

I miss Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew. No bigger mistake has ever been made on Greys than writers getting rid of Arizona. I am happy Geena Davis’s character came back for her and offered her a job. They brought one of my favorite characters, Teddy, back just to ruin her life. New season welcomed Chris McCormick, Nashville alum and the first half of the season entirely revolved around Meredith’s love life.

  1. SVU

I honestly hope SVU never ends, because these cases will never lose its importance and I will gladly follow Mariska chasing rapists in her 60s and 70s.

  1. Shameless

This season wasn’t shameless at all. Carl’s wife was annoying, but I cannot believe they killed her off and no one is bothered. I’m glad they brought Courteney Cox for an episode, and Peggy Bundy for a few. I really hope Katey Segal is coming back in January. Speaking of the Bundys, I feel like watching some Married with Children reruns.

  1. Fuller House

Netflix made us wait a full year for season 4 and then they didn’t promote the show at all. I didn’t even get an email notification about new episodes being up. I love everything the Fuller-Tanner-Gibbler family does. I love all their games and special events. I will never be a parent, but it’s my dream to be DJ Tanner and organise all these fun events and days out with people I love. I love how DJ is always on her 100 percent, a perfectionist, always nicely dressed and ready for an adventure. It’s exactly how my mom is, I could never wear makeup and nice clothes every day, especially on my days off. Maybe it has something to do with being a parent or actually being around people.

  1. The Middle

One of my favorite family shows ended, but it looks like Eden Sher has been given a spin-off. I hope they get Patricia Heaton to visit her a lot.

  1. American Horror Story

I liked this season, but then again I will always be happy with this show as long as Sarah Paulson is still doing it.

  1. The Goldbergs

Speaking of spin offs, The Goldbergs is getting one, Schooled will premiere next year and it will revolve around Lanie. I was not happy that they recast Adam’s girlfriend, instead of getting him a new one. I hope Barry and Lanie do get married.

  1. How to Get Away with Murder

I hated season 4, because it revolved around Laurel and her messed up family, that did not bring anything to the storyline, but season 5 focuses on Bonnie and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.

  1. Sharp Objects

Incredible series about self-harm based on an amazing book. It’s rarely ever that self-harm addiction is shown that realistically. Sharp Objects is one of the most relatable things I’ve come across and I wish this series was around when I was fifteen. It also has a jaw dropping twist in the very last 5 seconds.

  1. Killing Eve

My dad cannot stop saying that Cristina Yang lied to us when she said she’s moving to Switzerland, and moved to London to join MI5 instead. This series starring Thirteen’s Jodie Colmer is a ‘killer’.

  1. Ozark

A money laundering show starring Laura Linney, yes please! My dad loves this show.

  1. Good Girls

Another show my dad loved. And It’s about money laundering as well. I never cared much for Mad Men, I liked it, but it was too ‘manly’ for me, but Christina Hendricks is amazing in this and Mae Whitman also stars.

  1. Thirteen Reasons Why

Say what you want, this season was almost as good as the first one, and it wasn’t too explicit. I’m not sure where I stand on how they ended this season, but I do agree that the shooting would have been too traumatizing for teenagers. I didn’t like that Hannah had a boyfriend prior to what happened in the bath tub in season one. They portrayed her as this innocent, never-had-a-boyfriend type in season one and then they ruined it in season two. Clay was supposed to be the only person that loved her, and there was someone else. I liked her boyfriend though, and I got used to the relationship, and thought it was cute by the end, so I guess it evens itself out.

  1. This is Us

In a way I lost interest the minute we learned how Jack died. It was quite brutal and I honestly don’t think there’s anything else there left to tell. I loved how they showed Tess and what she ends up doing with her life in the future.

  1. 911

Can Connie just relax and stick to one show? I loved her on Nashville and Friday Night Lights, and AHS Murder House as well, so I was happy when she joined 911, starring opposite Parenthood and Six Feet Under’s Peter Krause. I am not enjoying this season as much, but the first one was amazing.

  1. The Resident

Revenge, Brothers and Sisters and Everwood’s Emily VanCamp stars next to Gilmore Girls and The Good Wife’s Matt Chuchry in this medical drama. I am disappointed that many of the cases look like they were copied straight off Grey’s Anatomy. In season one Emily’s character Nick, was trying to bring an abusive doctor down, season 2 lacks this leading plot. Jenna Dewan joined the cast and every time I see her on the screen, my mind authomatically goes to Step Up.

  1. Crikey it’s the Irwins

I just love this show. I have followed the Irwins since late 90s, back when Crocodile Hunter was on TV. Steve Irwin’s death broke my heart. The Irwins live in Steve’s dad’s Australia Zoo and continue his legacy as wildlife conservationists.

  1. When Calls the Heart

What a year it was for the Hearties. Daniel Lissing has been absent through most of season 5 and then quit altogether, so they had to kill him off. The winter episode didn’t lack the usual sweetness of the show, but It wasn’t as good as previous episodes.

  1. Modern Family

Everything after season 3 has been mediocre, but I’m still sticking with it.

  1. For the People

I have been following Britt Robertson’s career for 8 years now, while Girlboss wasn’t her big break, neither will this be. I still love this Shondaland show and can’t wait for season 2.

  1. Scandal

I just hated what happened to David, it ruined the series for me.

  1. Riverdale

Season one was amazing, season two was average, but ended well, and I really hope season 3 will have an actual killer, and it will not go all supernatural on us. I like the darker, illuminati vibe, but now that we’ve seen Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, we don’t need it anymore.

  1. The Simpsons

I honestly hope The Simpsons has 60 seasons, I love the school and family episodes, and hate all the sci-fi. I wish they only stuck to those.

  1. The Good Fight

Season 2 was all over the place, are we even getting a third season?

  1. The Good Place

Everyone seems to be loving this show and I find it average and haven’t even been following this season.

  1. The Good Doctor

Same as with The Resident, we’ve seen all this on Greys and some cases are coincidentaly similiar. I haven’t caught up with season two yet.

  1. Hollywood Darlings

It’s fun, but I don’t think it’ll be getting a third season. You never know though, as they’ve added it on Netflix earlier this month.

  1. F For Family

Not as good as previous seasons, but it’s still a nice way to spend 6 hours.

  1. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I do like the darker bits and Miranda Otto’s character.

30. Nashville

I miss it already, sadly it was never the same after Connie left. Lennon Stella now has a music career, and I still wish the Stella sisters continued as a duo.

31. Station 19

I love this one, it’s not brilliant, but I have the exact stable opinion on it every single week.

32. Younger

I loved Sex and the city and it’s been 20 years that I’ve wanted to live in New York, so it’s always a blast to see a little more of city life, even though it’s clearly gone to poop. I still like the same characters and hate the ones I hated in season 1. I am so happy about Liza and Charles, they should be together.

33. The Handmaid’s Tale

I liked the first season more.

34. One Day At a Time

I love this show, Elena’s story is amazing and I love all characters.

35. The Insatiable

This Netflix comedy staring Jessie’s Debby Ryan was a bit psycho, but I liked it anyway.

36. Divorce

The Sarah Jessica Parker comedy. It’s funny and I’m waiting for season 3.

37. Absentia

Stana Katic centred show about a cop that gets kidnapped, is stuck in a fish bowl and is waterboarded. All leads to a childhood mystery and It will be back for season 2.

38. Orange is the New Black

I just love this show and have followed it since day 1. I’m not that said about Daya’s punishment, but It’s awful what they’ve done to Red and Tasha.

39. Schooled

A spin off of The Goldbergs. Lanie abandoned her rock star dreams and become a high school teacher.

40. Grace and Frankie

I just love this show, and was scared it ended when Grace and Frankie were sent away to a retirement home at the end of last.

41. Light as a Feather

Girls play Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board and fall victims of a curse, as something wicked attaches itself to the spine of one.

If you’re not disapointed that Arizona’s girlfriend is bi and not gay, you’re lying to yourself.

What’s your specialty?
Orgasms.
You were nominated for a Harper Avery!

Greys 14.07

Congrats to Greys on 300 episodes! What a nostalgic treat this week’s episode was! I noticed Kate Burton’s name in the opening credits, yet I lost it when I saw her up in the gallery cheering Meredith on!

RIP George, Lexie, Mark, Derek & Ellis!

10/10

The Middle 9.06

I saw Cindy hatless!
She’s not wearing her Safar hat?
That she’s decided to be normal?
Showering day off!
Did you get your period in class and you weren’t prepared. I’m a good listener.
I figured the next famiy meeting we’d be having would be whether to pull life support off of my mom or dad.
You can pull it right now.
Let the record show that Sue is lame.
Speaking od wrapping, you want to wrap this up.
I’m the face of this family.
I’ve worned the same outfit for the last 3 weeks.
You gave us this lie, not exactly something to brag about.
See you on pull the plug day.
Don’t you dance despite me.

HTGAWM 4.06

Bonnie and Asher over Michaela and Asher.

Scandal 7.05

One more time they mention Bushran and I will quit this show in its final season. Why is this season so bad?

You killed Luna Vargas?

2/10

The Good Doctor 1.06

Remember when Izzie drilled a hole in the guy’s head during the ferry crash on Grey’s? Well The Good Doctor writers knicked that idea and it made me upset.

It’s dead in here.
That’s why they call in the graveyard shift.
Trama color coding, who knows it?
Green, walking, Yellow – wounded, red needs immediate attention.
Black goes straight to morgue.
Let’s go, trauma three.
Nice work doctor Murphy.
We need to go back.
Where?
To the crash site.
He moved, it work.
You inserted the tube to far.
I drilled a perfect hole and I screwed up her intubation?
I loved Steve and my rabbit.

The Simpsons 29.05

Simpsonovich.
Szyslak.
I need to see your diaper.
Your pupils aren’t ready for earth light.
Thank you.
I was just wondering if you were planning on breaking into school any time soon?
Not till next month.
Please, I’ll do your homework.
Sounds like you can’t even do your homework.
Ouch.
She does that so she doesn’t smell like cigarrettes.
She should also get some booze gum.
You’re making that up.
Am I that creative.
30 pizzas. I can finally send my mother back to Italy.
Seems kinda thick.
They gave you a lot of reasons why you weren’t good enough.
What’s he doing here?
Didn’t we just see him yesterday?
Making our next president… Tony Hitler.
Where is my nicotine gum?
You rented my room to the town drunk?
I’m also the state drunk.
I can’t live in a college town. Can’t control myself sexually.

10/10

Modern Family 9.06

Picture me next to Gloria in a wedding dress.
He walked Gloria down the aisle.
I look stupid.
So big now.
They’re Gloria’s family. Unlike some people, they feel things.
That’s why I splipped her 3 drinks at reception.
Your own magic shop.

3/10

The Goldbergs 5.06

Mikey liked it.
I’d never thought I’d say this. bring me Adam.
Let’s get feminine.
Fuck this school.
This is unfucking believable.
He mistook the display toilet for the real deal.

4/10

AHS 7.10

So predictable since the moment she served her food.

I already have.
Doubters get no cookies.
Where’s your wife?
In the truck.
It felt fucking fantastic.
We made a mesaiah baby.

3/10

AHS 7.11

This season was  a waste of time.

2/10

Riverdale 2.05

Camilla shot in the sky. The fight, Betty waltzing in telling everyone the town’s meeting is next and finally pulling the fire exit handle.

They think you’re teen American Psycho.
The killer says you’re doing it for me.
Betty’s ponytail is iconic.
When I was a little girl, I used to be obsessed with this book.
Blackhood is coming here.

5/10

Riverdale 2.06

Proud to see a sexual assault storyline!

7/10

Absentia 1.05

We’re finally getting somewhere. Found bones.

The eye. It’s a tree.
Spasiba.
As least as long as she was taken.

4/10

Absentia 1.06

You’re receiving body cam footage.
There’s two more.
It felt like I’ve been given a second chance. This is the first day of my sobriety.

Absentia 1.07

Greys 14.05

The shocking part of this episode was that Megan was kidnapped by a woman. Was Nathan just written off Greys? Does Owen divorcing Amelia mean he’s finally going to get together with Teddy?

7/10

SVU 19.04

Youtuber is raped.

Whoever did this, please, just tell me why.
They did more than just draw on her with a sharpie, she was raped.
You’re under arrest for rape in second degree.
She wanted it. Her eyes were closed, but she was smiling.
You don’t want to feel anything.
You know I told you my name was Amanda too?
When I was your age I lived in a tiny town in Georgia and everybody gossiped and I did something stupid and I got a reputation. And that’s all I thought about. The names they were calling me.
Easy ass Amanda and worse. It took a long time, but I realized, whatever people said about me, that didn’t define me. Only I can define me. And when I was old enough and went and got this. It’s my name, Amanda, just to remind myself, that that’s who I am, not any of these other names I was branded with.
We want you to know you’re not alone.
And girls are actually more brutal.
I want you to stand up if you’ve ever been sexually assaulted.

10/10

The Middle 9.03

Why are you talking like a farm man?
Worse mistake of his life.
Do I even have a good bra?
I love your son, I love your daughter too.
I like extreme TV.
That will be 5 dollars.
Hobos carry more.
Start looking for loose change.
Or a janitor you’re inappropriately closed with.
Can yu be more specific?
I married a mud hole guy, because I love the mud hole guy.
At least the bathroom I barfed in was unbelievable.

6/10

Modern Family 9.02

What an experience this episode was!

I know it’s not a voicemail, I just don’t want to hear you whine about it.
You live in a care package.
She’s been dropping hints about wanting some wheels.
Unicicle? She definitely said wheels.
Are you forgetting something?
Whoops, that was close.
I’m on it.
A cold white people goodbye.
Turns out I really held up.
Duke is it?
How would you like to have Christmas every day?
There’s a small chance I might have definitely started the fire.
Many says its my job now.
Many was doing all of these things?
I’m going shopping with Joe.
For toys?
No, for shoes. I’m the one that’s sad, not you.
I didn’t hate that.
Extreme pressure.
You fool.
Here, you’re Haylie.
Highest possible level.
You fools.
Kinda rouned up there.

10/10

Modern Family 9.03

How did that chair broke under Phil? He didn’t move one bit!

She’s been going through this irresponsible phase.
Yeah for 25 years. I’m not gonna let her get to 26.
It’s 2 in the morning, I have to change for a party.
Every morning before I shower, I kick off my underwear. If I catch it, it’s gonna be a great day. If I don’t, disaster.
A day, you guessed it. He dropped his underwear.
The day I rollerbladed into bees, I dropped my underwear.
The day I rollerbladed into that camfire…
How about you stop rollerblading.
I need my phone, I sit at a stupid golf course all day. What else am I suppose to look at?
Did you hit something we can talk about or should I go out front and find a bidy shot that doesn’t ask questions?
I might accidentally leave her at the beach.
Yes Claire, I think ir bit me a little.
I just found out I’m still listed in her phone as Jay, red track suit.
Salads left uninstagrammed.
I just needed a quiet place to find out how they killed that mockingbird.
I missed half of 5th grade because of a pig bite and I am just as educated as anyone else.
If it makes you feel any better, my name is actually Fernando.
It does help.
Oh my God it’s Dunphy! 50 bucks to the first guy who hits him!
Is that freaking Gill?!
Just hit as fast as you can!

How to Get Away with Murder 4.03

Refund of my law school degree. I just dropped out.
In that case we are all murderers. We have all deleted a voicemail.
Connor dropped out.
I need to take a urine sample.
Connor just decided to drop out completely.
First time you met me you said I’m gonna give up my career to be a mom. I’m at the bottom of my class, I have no internship and I’m pregnant.
I hate being a failure.
These are Connor’s dads.

8/10

HTGAWM 4.04

He was 12.
Connor gave me the courage to come out.
He should be in jail.
So should you.
She’s still hot, I’ll give her that.
Dad’s my dead baby in that suitcase.
All you do is hurt me, leave!
You’re looking that again, looking for a mommy wherever you go.
A your sober buddy, you have to drop this.
You’re back on crack and it’s called Annalise.
New patient just arrived, Julie?
Where’s the witness, over there.

5/10

Scandal 7.02

Meh. The last two seasons have been meh, until someone dies. Where the fuck is Liberty though? We haven’t seen her since season 5.

I’ve made a list of guests most prone to scandal.
Do you miss it? The White House?
I was a big dog.
I prefer being a Gladiator.
Watch out for Olivia Pope, she’s the devil.

7/10

Riverdale 2.02

Smithers was awesome, it’s heartbraking that he got sacked. Did Cheryl’s mom not know her husband killed Jason? Was this how she found out? I wish I remembered.

Miss Grundy was found murdered.
You’re a stone cold bitch, Betty Cooper.
My daddy threatened him.
Mark this day in your diary. I lied under oth for you.
A video of daddy and Jason, it might brong you peace.
Where’s Smithers?

4/10

Liar 1.06

Last one, damn it. I’m glad there will be a season 2! The lesbian relationship in this show is inspiring and I bet it’s the army chick who killed him. She’s probably my favorite character here and she’s only been in 2 scenes! I wish they showed us how Laura told the airport guy of the rape! The rapist being creepier than usual calling Laura to tell her he could have had her again whenever he wanted was the second most disturbing thing that happened on the show. Can you guess what’s the first one?

Is that him?
While you were away something happened, but please I can’t say it out loud. I can’t tell you.
If I wanted to have you again, don’t you think I could have had you whenever I wanted?
And you laying there, letting me do whatever I wanted.
I play that back whenever I get the chance, Laura?
I think he filmed us.
I feel like it’s my job to protect you.
I wasn’t there to protect you.
At least 15 women.
The tech guys told me 17.

7/10

The Good Doctor 1.01

Grey’s Anatomy for poor! This episode was a 10 and I think it’s pretty obvious i will cry on all the flashbacks to him spending time with his brother. Did Freddie’s accent get better? It used to crack on Bates Motel, but since here his character is autistic and doesn’t have outbursts of rage he easily passes for an American. Freddie Highmore has been lucky to star in 2 amazing shows. I may have teared up a few times while writing the quotes below.

I am a surgical resident.
Who here has a sharp knife.
Excuse me, excuse me please.
Apparently he’s one of our doctors.
Why were you rude to me when we first met, nice to me the second time and now you’re trying to be my friend.
I couldn’t save them. It’s sad. Neither one had a chance to become adults. They should have become adults. They should have had children of their own and loved those children and I want to make sure that’s possible for other people. And I want to make a lot of money so I can have a television.
I want to be the first to welcome you to the hospital.
Never forget, you’re the smart one. You can do anything. I’m proud of you, Sean.

10/10

The Good Doctor 1.02

No, the bus was late. I did nothing wrong.
Am I being punished for something.
I look forward to learning.
I’ll be honest and fair.
If you don’t do the test right now, I will throw a rock theough your window.
If you want to get anything in life, Sean, never be afraid.
Part of my condition is that I keep thinking about things.
Prepare an OR for surgery.

6.5/10

The Simpsons 29.02

Once again, learn the patient’s name.
Horrible, it looks like it was drawned by an 8 year old.
You need to start with something simple like people.
Those are people.
I want to be looking at a window, wondering if she’ll ever get out of the weight of her own expectations.
Please try to pretend I am not here.
Okay Steven.
Damn it.
Homer and Maggie eating pizza for dinner and breakfast.
You’re not my owner.
I kinda am.
Why can’t dreams come up with something new? That’s why they’re losing viewers to Netflix.
You better muzzle him, he’s a biter.
I think you may benefit from art therapy.
As the author of Persepolis.

10/10

The Simpsons 23.03

Back stabber, snob, so judgemental.
Well, an elephant does live here.
There’s no room in the trunk, sir.
You wack who you shouldn’t and you don’t wack who you should.
You;re gifted too!
Diva.
Woke up too many mornings with stuffed animals whose names she didn’t know.

3.5/10

American Horror Story 7.07

God I hate this season. Glad to see more familiar faces though, but the whole Zodiac killer theory and Lena Dunham’s character were unnecessary. How absurd (and funnt) was it when she said women coupling with men should be killed, ironic cause her Girls character is definitely into sex with men as in too much. Which is why I don’t watch Girls. Not a prude, just too asexual for all that sex, it’s not like it’s Sex and the Citym Now that was a show. I’m liking Beverly more and more, I even don’t mind her lysp anymore.

I’m Beverly motherfucking Cole.
You’re a fool to underestimate the rage of a woman.
They’re at their best when angry. Don’t you think?
Aren’t we all?

2.5/10

AHS 7.08

Kill the motherfucker.
That’s incest.
As he enters you, I enter him.
What the fuck is this?
This is too screwed up. I feel like I’m being raped.
Winter?
Let’s all join our new member.

6/10

Absentia 1.04

This show could not be any more boring. I am watching this for Stana Katic, but this show is a snoozeville. I hoped we would focus on the kidnapping and the captivity, but what they’re doing could be reduced to a 6 episode mini series.

You understand dick.

I am back! It’s only been 3 weeks into the new season and I already miss my old job where I could write reviews on a weekly basis. It will be a bit easier now that Mr.Mercedes and Liar ended this week.

Congrats to Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale on all their success at Emmys! And to Sterling Brown for being recognised for his work as Randall on This is Us.
Congrats to Hollywood Darlings on being renewed for season 2! It’s my great guilty pleasure of 2017 and I mostly love it for how much Christine Lakin swears in it. I always find it unnatural how no one is ever aloud to swear on TV (thank God for Showtime) considering half of the words I say in a day are curse words.

SVU 19.02

The smartest and most valuable show is back! The girl they chose to play the victim ruined this episode for me. Her acting sucked and I’ve never seen anyone act badly on this show before. This was new and disstressing. I have mixed feelings about Brian Cassidy returning to ruin Olivia’s life just because he’s still in love with her and never wanted her to adopt a child. He shows up 3 years later and tries to take the child away from her? Shouldn’t he have moved on with his life already?

We’re being played, Liv.
God knows I trust your instincts.
A lot of kids grow up in foster care and a lot of kids have crappy lives.
They stop seeing themselves as victims, so they stop being victims.
He kissed her before she used the inhaler.
You never really look at their faces.
He said there’d never be an investigation if it wasn’t for Brian Cassidy.
Probably a singing lesson.
Would you stop you’re getting crambs everywhere.

Drop everything cause Teddy is back!

10/10

Greys 14.02

That Meredith sleeping with George reference! I always shipped Owen with Teddy and was hoping he would leave Cristina for her. Here I was thinking Arizona’s new girlfriend is perfect for her and then we learned her profession. Every episode since has been about female orgasm.

10/10

Greys 14.03

Every impulsive decision Amelia has made has been because of cancer? And she didn’t get tested for brain tumor when her child was born without one back on Private Practice 5 years ago? They’ve mentioned Richard’s brain tumor from season 1!! and Nicole Hermann!

Meredith’s psychiatrist from 2 or 3 seasons back is now a patient.

I’m a psychiatrist. I work upstairs.
It’s nice to see you, Meredith.
You’re not of sound mind and you haven’t been in years.
I hope you’ve cleared your schedule.
Who’s Nicole Hermann?
What about Meredith and Maggie?
Is Nathan in love with you?
Years ago I had a brain tumor and Derek removed it.
You’re a bigger mess than I am.
If you coukd have a scalpel in your hand at the end of your life, would you?
I’ve checked your mortality rates when you arrived at Grey Sloan. It’s a 0.9%. Derek’s was 1.3%.
Yours is better than his and he didn’t have a brain tumor.
I was proposed to with a flash mob.
This is my brain.
I have a 10cm tumor in my left frontal lobe.
Maggie, don’t cry.
Owen and Meredith don’t know either.
I’m gonna need your help telling Owen.
And you are gonna have to tell Meredith, because I can’t do it. She’s been telling me I’m crazy for years and this kind of makes me. Kind of makes her right and I hate that.

10/10

Greys 14.04

Meredith mentioning kidnapping Zola back in episode 8.01 was one of the many highlights of this episode since they never mention season 8 unless its the planecrash. I am still extremely upset that they haven’t had Tyne Daly back on the show since season freaking 5, even though Derek and Meredith got married, Derek died, Amelia got married and there were tons of ocasions she should have been a part of. They keep saying ‘nah it’s cool don’t call my mom’ at least once a season. The Beach Boys playing during surgery? This is what surgeon I would be. The interns saying innapropriate stuff like when they lost their virginity or the weather is amazing (how can it be amazing it’s Seattle) or clearly stating Grey Sloan is their second choice at the interviews. Avery inheritted quarted of a billion dollars!

In this moment, I love you people tremendously.

They can’t hear me.

I stole her. I kidnapped my own daughter.

You should call Derek.

The yellow in your eyes means you need to have your liver checked.

The Middle 9.02

I’m a school bus driver.
It turned into a whole different colour when I cleaned it.
Welcome to statistics 204.
Mom’s not aloud to come.
And the Freshmans are all taller than me.

How to Get Away With Murder 4.01

She even fired Bonnie?! I am honestly not interested in getting to know Laurel’s family and what happened to her family.

10/10

How to Get Away With Murder 4.02

This was an exceptional episode. I loved how Annalise defended her prison friend (Rose from Lost), but what happened in 4.03 ruined this for me. I can’t decided whether Analise’s or Jasmine’s monologues were better, they were both fantastic.

The luckiest thing that ever happened to me was not being chosen to be a part of her cult. Each of her interns nearly flunk out due to her drama and those are the ones still alive.
You wanna save me? Go back to when I was 13 and my daddy sold my ass to a crook for a couple of bags of smack. You know what they do to a new girl? Strip you naked and take turns. They call it wolf packing, because then you are so broken, they can work you full time. In vans, in basements and only way to get through it is to shoot up and get numb.
You think she’s you.
You mean the sexual abuse that she’d experienced as a child.
And you actually believed that a 13 year old child was making a choice to have sex with grown men for money?
All of these cases are virtually identical to my client’s. Except for one. My client was black and all those girls were white.
Many of the women that I see with addiction issues have been abused often physically, sexually.
If Jasmine were treated like a white girl, she would have been sent to a safe place to eat, sleep, maybe even given an opportunity to go to school.
Because that’s what we do to black people, women and gay people in this world. We turn a blind eye and tell them that their lives don’t matter. But they do matter.
You will be eligible for assistance and job without disclosing your criminal history.
It’s as much of a fresh start as the law will allow. The one you should have been given in 1968.
It’s the firm that represents my father.
Because he killed Wes. My father killed Wes and you’re gonna help me take him down.

This is Us 2.01

I have yet to watch episodes 2 and 3, but the ending of this one had me devastated. This is a major spoiler so scroll down if you haven’t seen it. On my way to London the other day, I saw the wreckage of the Grenfell Tower from the bus and it left me uneasy knowing the tower will probably haunt visitors for many upcoming months. The Grenfell tragedy left a huge emotional impact on the UK population, but seeing the wreckage with my own eyes made it painfully real. If you watched the episode you know why I found Jack’s death devastating, as burning alive may be one of the most awful ways to go. The episode was not perfect, but the last 60 seconds certainly were, with teenage Kate telling Randall she should be the one to tell Kevin about their father’s death.

He should hear this from me.

American Horror Story 7.01

I was enjoying this season…for the first 3 episodes, now I know better. This is even weaker than Hotel and Ranoake. And I am happy there’s no Lady Gaga this season.

10/10

American Horror Story 7.02

Someone cutting the wires, random ice cream truck, Audrey freaking out, Audrey telling her son to take his glasses before escaping from the house and all the clowns already had me hooked at that point. Now I know they’re just a bunch of stupid, childish and angry kids and despise Evan’s character and the entire Cult.

Is she okay?
We don’t scare easily.
Did she tell you I was the one that killed him?
Lesbians!

6/10

American Horror Story 7.03

I was upset when my DVR deleted it out of the blue after only 3 watches. This episode is gold. I know there won’t be a better one this season.

10/10

American Horror Story 7.04

Emma Roberts has been brought back this season, for only one fucking episode. Wtf?!

3/10

American Horror Story 7.05

I was so glad the Hotel maid was back and then she got killed off as quickly as Emma Roberts.

You used the word cult.
There’s a cult in this city. They’re the ones responsible for all the murders.
He’s like a modern day Charles Manson.
Are you saying you believe me?

8/10

The Goldbergs 5.02

This may as well be 5.03 I’ll check later.

Any film student who spent a large part of their childhood running around with their camera, plotting film scenarios, scripts and scenes in their head will surely feel nothing but comfort when they see Adam being once again told to ‘keep making movies’. The beloved voiceover responded ‘And I did.’ This sort of the quite common now The Goldbergs thing always leaves me teary eyed.

Well that content was shockingly simple but wow, you have a video camera!
Don’t be this guy!
That’s a worrying cautionary tale.
As you know I have a video camera.
I think we all know how that held you back socially.
Indeed.
Yes, thanks and what the fuck is this movie.
I suggest you keep making more.
And I did.

3.5/10

Scandal 7.01

QPA? What is this a babysitting service?
He’s a spy. That’s what you do to spies that get caught.
Brought you a hand sanitizer.
It’s four years during which every high school freshman in this country won’t work as hard as they might if they believed their government gave a damn about them. Four years of high school graduates moving into low skill jobs because they can’t afford to take on student loans.
Do what I say and you’ll become a monument.
Which one do you want to be?
A monument. I want to be a monument.

Liar 1.01

One long SVU episode, starring Joanne Froggatt (who’s Downton Abbey character Anna Bates was also a rape survivor) and I’m just really happy this was made.

How badly does he need to hurt me for you to call it rape?
He swaped the glasses!
Are you saying he drugged you?
He is a rapist.
I’ve posted it to his page.

10/10

Liar 1.02

4000 shares.
This is my life.
And this my body.
It’s 10 000 already.
He deserved it. She looks like a slut.
85 000 of women a year raped in the UK.
5.7% of cases reported end with a conviction.
What are you watching?
Excuse me I’m not feeling well.

5/10

Liar 1.03

I was a headmaster.
That’s what happens when everybody thinks your dad is a rapist.
You’re pregnant?
You’re just a predator.
I would tell you that I don’t drink with men who rape women.
I’ sorry we let you down.

4/10

Liar 1.04

And he raped me.
I thought I was drunk.
It felt like it happened to someone else.
He said it was my idea and I believed him.
I feel like I’m broken.
He’s done it twice, who knows how many more.
Suddenly you don’t know what’s important anymore. You’re wondering why you bother to get up in the morning, get dressed and do the same old thing day in and day out.
I’ve changed and I don’t know how to change back.
Maybe you don’t have to. Maybe you just have to learn who you are now.
You don’t get to do this to me twice.
You raped me.
I just nought GHB.

8/10

Liar 1.05

Looks like some sort of a bruise. A few actually.
I want you to test me for GHB.
You won’t get away with what you did to me.
You raped me.

Absentia 1.01

Stana Katic has a new TV Series! The pilot was great, shame the next two episodes weren’t.

You’ve been gone 6 years.

10/10

Absentia 1.02

This sucked more or less.

2/10

Absentia 1.03

Did you see how her son was thrown and hit his head! Woah this was too brutal for television and left me in a state of shock. The show isn’t that interesting, but let’s be honest, I have and will watch anything with Stana Katic.

3/10

Gifted 1.01

Not too good even for a teen show, but I’ll stick with it.

4/10

Gifted 1.02

Okay that was really bad.

1/10

SEAL Team 1.01

That was boring. I knew I should have started The Last Ship instead of this. I’m not sure I will watch more as not even David Boreanaz and Max Thierot can save it.

Fall 2016 definitely wasn’t TV’s best season, to be honest, it was more of a ‘snoozeville all the way through. I must admit, the season felt incomplete without Scandal, Nashville, The Good Wife, Downton Abbey and Castle, but at least we got Shameless four months early.

Didn’t you just love season two of Fuller House?! Expect a post on it very soon. I haven’t posted for two weeks, because I have been too tired from crying over Gilmore Girls. If you want to see my review, check my previous post.

The Middle 8.05

Sue chooses a quite shocking major that made me think of Lorelai Gilmore the minute she said it. Mike beautifully explains to her she needs a good job to avoid the Heck lifestyle and Brick learns how to drive and hits the Orson cow with Axl’ RV.

Anything I should know?
The Lord’s prayer.
I am 15.
I thought you were 12.
Uh! Astronomy!
Should we be concerned about how much we hide from our kids?
Theatre Where’s the future in that?! She’s not good!
Veterinary school? That’s harder to get into than med school!
I’m thinking of adding Criminal Justice as one of my majors.
There’s no inheritance, so you need a job that pays well. You can’t just sign up for everything that looks fun.
The only reason you’re still in school is that Dad sold his half of the diaper business.
If you start digging around this yard in 5 minutes you’ll hit a report card.
I need to pick one major, so tell me what you want me to do and I’ll do it.
What? I’m not gonna do that.
You were never supposed to know. I just didn’t think you had to worry about that.
I don’t want you to be on the first name basis with an operator from the gas company. Even though Joyce is very nice and lets us spread the bill over three credit cards. I don’t want you to have to share a battery between two cars. I don’t want you to hope for a tornado to bring your next appliance. I’m not trying to scare you kid, but it’s hard sometimes living like we do. And what I hope for you is just that it can be different.

10/10

The Middle 8.06

The Hecks eat Nancy’s Thanksgiving food and the episode is hilarious as always.

Other people watch you like a pig, cause you got three scoops.
When Cindy doesn’t get what she wants, Brick doesn’t get what he wants. Reading time.
I didn’t recognize you in youre uniform. Thank you for your service.
No, I don’t have a middle name. Except for Rose.
She’s losing memory, so It’s important we see her.
Or you could just tell her you saw her.
I don’t like her either. Cindy said she could not get a conversation going with her, and Cindy can talk to anybody!
Because I’m responsible for you.
I never want you to stop looking out for me.
So she’s not even related?
Oh no she is to somebody, but not actually to us.
And by the way, not a good babysitte, cause she obviously dropped April on her head a few times!
Try a few hundread times!
Thank you Lord, for the Hecks. The best neighboors in the world.

How To Get Away With Murder 3.09

I was surprised to see who died. He’s the main character! Bonnie and Annalise almost hooked up and Olly knows about the night of Sam Keating’s disappearance. Police finally finds Rebecca’s body and Wes learns she was murdered.

Junk food is all I’m doing.
I wasn’t high, I was traumatised.
Traumatised from what?
Like you don’t already know.
Social services rescued me and I sescued myself.
You’re fired. Did you not hear me?
You’re the problem with the gay community.
We’re all the problem with the gay community.
Bonnie, who is it?
It’s Wes.
Middleton student identified as fire victim.

10/10

SVU 18.06

Hands down worst episode of SVU ever. They wanted to make another transgender-centred episode and they screwed it up big time, as we were presented with a extremely boring script. Read these to see the only good things about this episode.

Can’t people yse the bathroom they were born to use? Is that really so damn hard?
He thinks that because he’s in love with a transgender woman that he’s gay.
Three lives destroyed all because a woman named Eva was born a boy.
He killed a woman of your dreams.
The single just hit number one. That’s all that really matters.

3.5/10

The Goldbergs 4.07

The fourth Thanksgiving at The Goldbergs was just plain bad.

Everyone, come back! It’s fucking thanksgiving!

American Horror Story 6.10

Who wasn’t dissapointed with the Lana Winters link or camoeo? The finale to the Ranoke season. I didn’t exactly enjoy it, but the same can be said about the whole season. I hope you understand, that I could’t give it a 10.

Are you sure, it’s not me you love.
But they did die, didn’t they?
Welcome to the Lana Winters special.
You turned everyone else down. Because of you, because of who you are and what you’ve been through. I mean, Jesus. You killed your own son, Bloody Face.
I killed a psychopathic murderer before he could kill me.
Where is she, she was reported missing by her grandparents an hour before we went on the air.
She talks to much.
Sydney didn’t ask me to participate, and as it turns out, fortunately so.
Are you people crazy enough to be shooting another show here?
Lea Harris showed up in the middle of the night.
You stupid fucks, you deserve to die.
Not if Precila ddid to me what you wnat her to do to you.

9.5/10

Younger 3.06

Such a funny episode, more of them I beg of you!

My one desire is to service Charles.
We’re all beginning for more cock.
Look, Nancy Drew and leggier Nancy Drew.
It started as a writing exercise.
She’s someone in the Empirical family, we don’t want her making a relationship with another publisher.
Make the offer, we have to keep him in in the house.
That was a big safe, Liza.

6/10

Younger 3.07

As above, good episode.

It’s difficult to keep a secret, especially when you pretend to be someone else in order to be taken seriously in your profession.
It gets better.
That’s what they say to kids who are severely bullied.
He’s flirting with you through The New Yorker.

5.5/10

Younger 3.08

What a great episode, first one this season! Liza gets hit by a car while trying to return Diana’s city bike and Charles almost saw Liza’s real date of birth on her hospital wristband.

In my experience sex can be nothing and a kiss can mean a lot.
I had to buy extra storage on my Dropbox judt to open te file.
Your bike has been in an accident.
The one they gave me is wearing off. I think they didn’t account for my height.
I’m fine.
The bike is not FYI.
That should have been Becky.
Diana alerted the Empirical legal team and they alerted me.

8.5/10

Scream Queens 2.05

Funny, and overall good, everyone speaks with different accents, possibly the best this season. Why oh why did Jamie Lee say Freddy Krueger instead of Michael Myers?

For the love of God, number 5. Denise is dead could you maybe let us have two minutes that aren’t about you?
I finally  know what it felt like to be Freddy Krueger.
Hello non-doctor idiots. Sorry to interrupt your hard work cleaning bedpans, the only thing you’re qualified at any hospital on planet earth. Sorry, doctor tiny bitch.
These bed pans can wait till we find some less attractive people to clean them.
I’m pretty sure I ordered codde?
You didn’t order anything, this isn’t a restaurant.

9/10

Scream Queens 2.06

There are 3 Green Meanies!?

We’ve lost a lot of blood, so donate yours.
I’m sorry I haven’t welcomed you properly, by having sex with you.
And she’s a serial killer.
She’s a what?!

Welcome to ReviewThisFilm

This website started as weekly reviews on movies and tv episodes, and a diary of the 700 new films I watched every year. Today it’s a place for me to write a few words on films and tv shows that leave some sort of impact on me. I no longer write in depth reviews, partially thanks to bad habits gained by spending many hours a day on Letterboxd, and partially because of my demanding day job.

If you have a film you would like me to watch and review,  please leave a comment.

Enjoy!

About me

I am the dark and twisty Meredith Grey, the mad Dexter Morgan, hoping to grow up to be a little more like the wise, but fun Nora Walker. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My favorite actresses are Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. Favorite genre – psychological drama. I watch anything with a sexual or mental abuse plot. I used to be a horror freak. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy, SVU and many more. My other interests include making oil and pencil portraits and wildlife conservation. I cannot say no to beautiful landscapes, travel, Aussie accent, TV/film quotes and avocados. I have recently moved back from Australia to the UK. I’ve been running this blog for the last 9 years. Here I comment on films and episodes I watch. Enjoy! – Joanne

favourite film and tv quotes

‘When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I’ve met you and moved to Sydney, I haven’t listened to one Abba song. That’s because my life is as good as an Abba song. It’s as good as Dancing Queen.’ (Muriel’s Wedding)

‘I used to think about
your life in New York. I tried to imagine your room. I kept track of the time difference, so I  knew when you were awake and when you were asleep.’ (Disobedience)

‘Nothing’s clean, Howard. But we do our best, right?’ (The Aviator)

‘No, I’m not quitting. I don’t quit things.’
‘No, actually you do. Your mother quit your father. Your father quit you. You quit your boyfriend and if I read your hospital chart correctly you quit your life momentarily on a couple of occasions. You quit. It’s what you know how to do.’ (Greys)

‘Where the hell was I that year?’
‘Your were watching television’. (Everybody Loves Raymond)

‘It’s impossible to worry about anything else when there’s blood coming out of you.’
(Short Term 12)

‘I wanted it to happen. And when we were girls… Even then, it was the same. It’s always been this way! I have always wanted it.’ (Disobedience)

‘Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you play games in your head. You make up someone, someone good.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a moment when our lives change forever. The moment we admit our weaknesses, the moment we rise to a challenge, the moment we accept a sacrifice, or let a loved one go. And sometimes the change in our lives is an answer to our prayers.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Yesterday I went to the movies all day by myself. One after the other. I’ve never done that before. I had a really happy day.’ (Doing Time for Patsy Cline)

‘I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope. And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed a feel like I might die today.’ (Greys)

‘She saved me my whole life. Without her, I’m nothing.’ (The Favourite)

‘Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.’  (Greys)

‘Bree sobbed quietly in the restroom for five miutes, but her husband never knew, because when Bree finally emerged, she was perfect.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘I am not food, you cannot just eat and eat.’ (The Favourite)

‘I don’t love him.’
‘Of course you do.’
‘No!’
‘Don’t take me for a fool Olive,  I’m many things but I’m not a fool.’
‘I know that, you’re brilliant.’
‘Don’t you see, it’s over. Whatever this is, was, it’s over.’
‘I love You.’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing, is reason enough to celebrate.’ (Greys)

‘Many years ago, a neighbour and a good friend of ours took her life, and that left us all heartbroken and perplexed. But somehow, when I was alone in that hotel room, I forget about all the pain that she caused. In those awful moments, I thought maybe she had the answer.‘ (Desperate Housewives)

‘What happened last year when you fell in the water?’
‘I almost drowned. Do you think I did that for kicks?’
‘You put your hand in a body cavity that contained unexploded ammunition.’
‘I was trying to save a patient!’
‘Why is it that every other person in that room had the sense to hit the deck? You know people run away from this line between life and death. You seem to stand on it and wait for a strong wind to sway you one way or the other. You’re careless with your life. You’re not slitting your wrists but you’re careless. Probably because your mother told you you were a waste of space on this planet. The problem is you believed her. And if you don’t want out one of these days you’re going to die because of it.’  (Greys)

‘This is the street where I used to live and these were the people with whom I shared my life. I met them the day they moved in. And I saw what they brought with them. Beautiful dreams for the future. And quiet hopes for a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children, too. If I could, would I tell them what lies ahead? Would I warn them of the sorrow and betrayal that lie in store? No. From where I stand now, I see enough of the road to understand how it must be traveled. The trick is to keep moving forward, to let go of the fear and the regret that slow us down and keep us from enjoying a journey that will be over too soon. Yes, there will be unexpected bends in the road, shocking surprises we didn’t see coming, but that’s really the point. Don’t you think?’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Was your life not working when you let that slip out from under you?’
‘When are you going to stop suggesting that I’m suicidal?’
‘When you start acting like someone that wants to be alive.’
‘Give me my chart.’
‘Why?’
‘Because I’m not suicidal, and if it says that I am, then it’s wrong.’ (Greys)

‘There is nothing wrong with me.’
‘Then show me your arm.’ (Degrassi)

‘Look, my whole life, I have been the freak. The girl who nobody picked for dodgeball. The girl who didn’t have a mom. The girl who dressed funny because it was her dad buying her clothes. And then, tonight I looked at these people, and I thought maybe there’s a future where I don’t have to be a freak. Maybe I can be who I am and that’s okay.’ (Everything Sucks)

‘Dr, I have been this way since…since I can remember. There is no cure.’ (American Horror Story)

‘He was so crazy about me, I couldn’t breathe. So we tried drinking our way back into love, but it never made sense in the morning. So I ran. And every time I came back, he was here. And he was still crazy about me.’ (My Blueberry Nights)

‘Bree van de Kamp had always wanted to live her life with elegance and grace. That is also how she wanted to die. Her plan was to pour herself a glass of her favorite chardonnay, put on her most stylish nightgown and leave behind a note on embossed stationery.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘All we have is this moment. The future is just a fucking concept that we use to avoid being alive today. So be… here…. now.’ (Six Feet Under)

‘On the train coming here, we were in the same cart, I saw you, you were reading and you feel asleep. I didn’t dare to look at you, you were so beautiful, it was scary. Afterwards,  I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It made me smile. Then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who’d make you laugh. How lucky they were.’ (Enemy at the Gates)

‘It was a good day. Maybe even a great day. Even when it was hard, I was the me in my head. There was a moment when I thought I cant do this, I cant do this alone. I close my eyes and imagine myself doing it, and I did, I blocked out the fear, and I did it.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a time when we must expose our weaknesses. When our secrets can no longer remain private, when our solitude can no longer be denied, when our pain can no longer be ignored, but sometimes we feel so alone that a weakness we thought we’d overcome suddenly becomes too strong to fight.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Why did you get married, Esti? Why didn’t you just leave? So everything was all right when I left?’
‘No. I was ill.’
‘What sort of ill?’
‘In my head.’
‘If I had to sleep with a man, why not with our best friend?’
‘Oh, Esti…’
‘It hasn’t been a complete disaster.’
‘And that’s enough?! Do you have to have sex every Friday?’
‘It’s expected.’
‘It’s medieval. What happened to you?’
‘Nothing. You happened to me. And then I started teaching and that became important. I give them ambition.’
‘To do what? Push out seven babies and be a good wife?’
‘Don’t. Don’t. I help them to value themselves.’
‘Okay, but what about you?’
‘That is me. And you? Are you happy?’
‘Yes, I am.’
‘Have you been with other women?’
‘No. Not really. And you?’
‘No.’
‘But, Esti… Do you still
only fancy women?’ (Disobedience)

‘OK, then, listen. Let’s not get caught.’
‘What are you talkin’ about?’
‘Let’s keep goin’!’
‘What d’you mean?’
‘Go.’
‘You sure?’
‘Yeah. Yeah.’ (Thelma & Louise)

‘She let me live at Nora’s house. She let me believe that I was a part of their family. I fell in love with that family. What am I supposed to do, just sit there, pretend I’m related to them? I was happy. For the first time in my life I was happy.’ (Brothers and Sisters)

‘You will be left all alone with your bitterness and your rage and your knowledge that you loved her and she loved you and you threw it away for them.’
‘Do you love her?’
‘Yes.’
‘And Have you always?’
‘Yes.’
‘So then ask her.’

‘No razors, no scissors, no fucking freedom.’
(Short Term 12)
