Downloading Nancy

Had a pleasure to see it again. This movie shows the need to feel something. By self harm you can finally feel, the problem is that it’s just for few seconds. It is based on a true story of Sharon Lopatka who who found a guy on the Internet who was willing to take away her life, but first, fulfill all her needs. My favorite scenes was the one with a shrink (Amy Brenneman) going after her to the bathroom, as she felt she want to harm herself. Excellent movie, great topic.

9/10

Things You Can Tell Just by Looking At Her

Which story did I like the most? I found all very good, except Cameron Diaz’s character. I think I liked Holly Hunter and Calista Flockhart’s stories the most, loved the atmosphere in the scenes with Glenn Close. Hoped to see more Amy Brenneman, who was excellent as always.

8/10

Mother and child

I found it very interesting, loved the first few minutes. Loved the blind kid (Brit Robertson), and her interactions with Naomi Watts’ character. Can I say my favorite scene was that uncomfortable scene in gynecologist’s office. Also not enough Amy Brenneman.

9/10

Shark Night

Was surprised to like it. I always find an idea of revenge worth watching, so the main problem was good. Sara Paxton and Joel David Moore got all my attention. There are at least 10 better shark / water creatures movies better than this (counting the whole jaws series as one movie) but it was good, though 3D sucked.

6/10

The Runaways

Joan Jett was producing it? I am shocked. It wasn’t even good. Two main characters, badly acting, annoying, and nothing special. Spending every day with Joan on set and not being able to show it. I am with the people who say Taylor Momsen should play Dakota’s part. She would be a good Cherry, she can act a nice person, proved it in Gossip Girl (never seen one episode, but heard so), and she is wild. I found Dakota’s acting bad, and annoying. Not even starting the singing. Kristen on the other hand, maybe Joan’s character suited her personally, I could see she was nervous but still pretty confident and I did not like it much but I could believe this character, she did her best. The sex/lesbian’s scenes were all uncomfortable, and just bad. I liked the drums girl character the most, she was reliable.

4/10

Valentine’s Day. PuppetMaster. Life as we know it. Gifted Hands. 27 dresses. Easy A. Anacondas Haunting for the Blood Orchid. The Resident. Conviction. Chopping Mall. Insidious. Step Up 3. Held Hostage. Derailed. Piranha. When a stranger calls. The quiet. Speak. She fought Alone. Eat Pray Love. Rec. Quarantine. Mr. and Mrs. Killer. Road Train. Don’t be afraid of the Dark.

Valentine’s day

It was just bad. Don’t compare it to Love actually, Paris, Je t’aime or New York I love you. Because it was bad. None of the stories were good.

4/10

Puppet Master

The doll throwing up leaches was the only disguising thing. Still good, but didn’t meet my expectations.

4/10

Life as we know it

I was nicely surprised, but I hate cliche airport scenes. The rest was cute and funny. One of the best romantic comedies these days.

8/10

Gifted Hands

What an inspiring story.

8/10

27 dresses

Cute but average. Hated the sister boss thing. The rest was okay and I liked the Bennie an the Gets rendition! Bar and last scenes were good.

6/10

Easy A

Hilarious. Loved it. Have no idea why these kids made such a big deal about her losing her virginity, but that doesn’t matter. A few ridiculous scenes, but the rest was good. And Emma Stone looks exactly like my best friend.

8/10

Anacondas The Haunting for the Blood Orchid

Probably the best part of the series. Everything was right and good. I’m giving an extra point for Kadee Strickland, loved her character!

9/10

The Resident

Good movie with a disturbing SVU-like twist. Film stars Hilary Swank and James Dean Morgan, especially James, amazing!

7/10

Conviction

I just don’t get why Hilary didn’t get her third oscar for this? Or for Amelia. Bought this on DVD too.

9/10

Chopping Mall

Machines attacking the employees? Naaah.

3/10

Insidious

Horror of the year! It was just right, all of it. And the devil was beautiful and every other artistic thing too!

9/10

Step Up 3

Good dancers, fresh moves. The Water scene was already used in Step Up 2, but some of the moves were really good. I’ve always thought Alyson Stoner’s an amazing dancer, I’m glad they let her dance in this part!

7/10

The Amityville Horror

Fantastic remake starring Melissa George.

8/10

Village of the damned

I think I like John Carpenter’s version as much as the original.

7/10

Jawbreaker

It wasn’t good. Nothing made sense. And it was just not right.

3/10

30 days of Night

Best vampire movie it is! Better than Fright Night! Definitely my fav of the kind.

10/10

Triangle

You can already see it was Melissa George’s marathon, and this movie is really good. Loved everything about it!

9/10

Frozen

Very good, I love survival horror it’s probably my favorite genre, but the wolves eating kids, especially the second one, that was just not possible. Still movie was good. This girl was stupid though, leaving your hand on metal during winter, are you fucking nuts? Or throwing your wardrobe. Or the guy jumping?

9/10

Stake Land

Second favorite vampire movie after 30 days of the night. With Insidious best horror movies of the year. Ending sucked, but the rest was perfect.

10/10

The Shrine

When I heard Polish I was like what the? Some people spoke fluently but most spoke badly. And kids at the beginning of primary school don’t know that much language! Few nouns and two verbs. Not whole sentences and verbs like follow. Maybe they took extra classes like I did, but 8yrs olds are shy. It reminded me of some other movie, but can’t remember it. I think it was Itallian. You know the whole masks thing, and devil. I think it was pretty much the same. Still it was a good movie.

6/10

The reef

Oh, how I love when sth’s in the water! It was good. Everything. It’s hard to do bad movie of creatures eating people in the water. Wasn’t different than any others, had nice shark shots.

7/10

The ruins

It was good. Sick concept but sick in a good way!

8/10

Case 39

Wasn’t as good as Orphan.

6/10

Final Destination 5

So I agreed to see it with my friend, because I wanted to see the bridge scene in 3D but that was the only good thing about the movie. Everyone seemed to end up stabbed by sth at some point. I hate the series because it’s just predictable.

2/10

The Betrayed

Haven’t seen thriller that good in a long time. Since The Heat I believe. Ending sucked everything else was good, had no idea what’s going to happen next!

9/10

Choose

Cool but I expected more. Ending was just bad, it should end with her leaving the motel, but oh, well.

6/10

Held Hostage

Good  but nothing special

6/10

Derailed

It wasn’t bad, I figured out there’s something wrong with Jen’s character at the beginning but I still didn’t like it much.

5/10

Piranha

Was okay, but I prefer the original one. Wish I saw it in 3D. Piranhas eating the kids, aaa amazing!

8/10

When a stanger calls

It was just bad. Nice house though!

4/10

The quiet

Good story, it was just good. I had a feeling it was a little flat at the end, but still good.

7/10

Speak

I wasn’t super good, but I loved it anyway. And I can’t believe everybody believed her at the end!

7/10

She fought alone

It was okay, but I prefer the previous two.

5/10

eat pray love

Reminded me of under the tuscan sun, but I didn’t like it.

5/10

Rec

I saw it again because I wanted to see Quarantine, It’s brilliant!

10/10

Quarantine

No idea why it was made but it was almost as cool as the original

8/10

Mr. and Mrs. Killer

It was okay, I don’t really know if it was better than Mr. and Mrs Smith or not…

5/10

Road train

That was bad. Not disastrous, but bad.

3/10

Don’t be afraid of the dark

Lots of plot holes. These creatures should have taken daddy not the one who they took, loved the whole artistic part of it. Not scary at all, but I haven’t seen the original yet! It says the most scary horror from your childhood, so I guess I should have seen it like 10 yrs ago.

5/10

I won’t be watching many movies this school year, probably only those I see at the cinema. But I will update this blog.

I Saw the Devil. Harry Potter 7 part 2. Monsters. Somewhere. Tomorrow when the war began. Old school. Cyberbully. Moonlight Mile. Daredevil. Fright Night. Night Fright. Sleepaway Camp. Super 8. I spit on your grave. Descent. Creepshow. Descent 2. Last House on the Left. Last House on the Left remake.

I saw the devil

Beautiful shots. Everything right. For people who love revange movies.

8/10

hp7 part 2

Best part. That’s all. Movie for kids in which kids die. that’s why I love Harry Potter series so much.

8/10

Monsters

Saw it at the cinema and it wasn’t good. I wasn’t impressed. Hated the ending. Wasted money.

4/10

Somewhere

I was disappointed. Badly. Expected fireworks, got just another dull story without depression in it.

3/10

Tomorrow when the war began

Was very shocked as I loved it, absolutely. Definitely reading the these books in the future.

7/10

Old school

Funny, fucked up and Ellen Pompeo. That’s it.

6/10

Cyberbully

Not as good as Odd Girl Out, but still good. Hated the ending when they make up. Emily Osment and Kay Panabaker are one of the not so many teen stars who’s carriers I follow. I know many people laughed at ‘I can’t get the cup off’, which only proves this scene ruined the movie.

There’s nothing wrong with asking for help!

I know you probably don’t know it but your words actually hurt.

I’m the real Taylor Hillridge. And I don’t know why everybody HATES me so much, or maybe I do. Because now I hate me too. I really don’t see the reason of trying, or for talking, or for breathing. I’m just done. So that’s it I guess. Bye.

5/10

Moonlight mile

One of my favorite movies. Susan Sarandon and Dustin Hoffman. Good movie. Loved Ellen Pompeo in it! She portraits her character really nice in here!

8/10

Daredevil

point for music

6/10

Fright night

8/10

Night Fright

Massacre.

1/10

Sleepaway camp

7/10

Super 8

catastrophic part! special effects!

7/10

I Spit On Your Grave

The original. One of my favorite horrors. I watched it again. It has a really good remake.

9/10

The Descent

Watched it again. You have no idea what’s going to happen next. This movie’s just perfect.

10/10

Creepshow

Again. Stephen King’s the best in this! And it’s just hilarious.

7/10

The Descent 2

Finally saw the second part, which wasn’t as good as the original, but oh well.

Last House On the Left

One of my favorite movies! Will review it it my Wes Craven post!

10/10

Last House On the Left

Remake. Less violent. And girl survived. But still cool.

8/10

Salò, 120 days of sodoma

Good! Brutal but good.

8/10

Hanna. Black Swan. Rest Stop. The Strangers. Secret Window. The Age of Innocence. The Uninvited. The Hills Run Red. Valentine. The Mesmerist. Alice Sweet Alice. Pleasantville. Maniac. Hanna

I went to the cinema to see how’s Saoirse Ronan’s carrier is  doing as I saw three movies with her (Atonement, The Lovely Bones and I could Never Be Your Woman). Hanna has good score, good acting, but the whole idea was weird, and not to mention the wacko idea of her magically transporting from Mexico to Germany through some underground tunnel. I loved that deer scene and basically all the scenes in the woods, gotta appreciate that lovely scenery.

I just missed your heart.

Hanna, what did your Mom die of?
Three bullets…

6/10

Black Swan

This movie from Darren Arofonsky, Rachel Weisz’s partner and director of the controversial, but beloved by drug and party obsessed teens ‘Requiem for A Dream’ is quite a surprise. I kinda liked Winona Ryder’s performance more that Natalie Portman’s. I loved  I loved the dark elements of the movie, dying for perfection, all the scratches and basically the entire second half of the movie. I love how it all could have been a beautifully tragic metaphor for anorexia and bulimia.

I just want to be perfect.

It’s about a girl who gets turned into a swan and she needs love to break the spell, but her prince falls for the wrong girl, so she kills herself.

Because everything Beth does comes from within. From some dark impulse. I guess that’s what makes her so thrilling to watch. So dangerous. Even perfect at times, but also so damn destructive.

I had the craziest dream last night. I was dancing the white swan.

We all know the story. Virginal girl, pure and sweet, trapped in the body of a swan. She desires freedom but only true love can break the spell. Her wish is nearly granted in the form of a prince, but before he can declare his love her lustful twin, the black swan, tricks and seduces him. Devastated the white swan leaps of a cliff /killing herself and, in death, finds freedom.

Perfection is not just about control. It’s also about letting go. Surprise yourself so you can surprise the audience. Transcendence! Very few have it in them.

I felt it. Perfect. I was perfect.

9/10

Rest stop

It was okay, but then again, I’m still thinking about it, so I cannot say it didn’t leave an impact.

5/10

The Strangers

I have absolutely no idea why so many people are obsessed with it, it was good, but not shockingly special. Sure the idea of strangers in masks breaking in is cool, and It is supposed to be based on true events. Ending was fantastic though. I will buy it on DVD, if I find it cheap.

Why are you doing this to us?
Because you were home.

You’re gonna die.

5/10

Secret Window

You know, the only thing that matters in every single movie is the ending. It’s the most important part of the story. And this one… is perfect.

This is just bad writing.

I’m sure that in time, every bit of her will be gone and her death will be a mystery… even to me.

You strike me as the kind of guy who’s on the lookout for a head he can knock off with a shovel.

I’m gonna get a knife and cut you out of me. Before you kill anyone else.
I didn’t kill anybody.
You had a gun.
Wasn’t loaded.
Really?
No.
You almost killed them. You wanted to.

6/10

The Age of Innocence

I really do think it’s the worst movie of Scorsese’s. I just didn’t like it. Extra point for tiny Winona.

3/10

The Uninvited

The ending was everything here! I was nicely surprised and It was a good movie!

7/10

The Hills Run Red

Liked the idea. Movie itself was fucked up a lot. But was bloody and not bad at all.

6/10.

Valentine

I loved it! Marley Shelton, Jessica Capshaw, David Boreanaz and Katherine Heigl! I really believed the fat girl getting revenge on their friends story. Then It clicked, blood from the nose! And that made this movie even better. The killings were cool and basing this film around Valentines was a good idea. Need to read the book!

6/10

The Mesmerist

I love Edgar Allan Poe and Jessica Capshaw. This story was funny and cool and the ending worked. I liked it more then the book, mainly because the story was missing something. And the film suggested, it was missing… a daughter. But then the ending got incestious real quick.

Now I can smoke as much as I want. I can drink alcohol as much as I want.

Man, do I need a cigarette!

4/10

Alice Sweet Alice

It was so good. Sister burning her own sister. In a Church! During the first communion!

6/10

Pleasantville

I’ve seen it like ten times, and it never gets boring. It’s beautiful! The groundbreaking bathtub scene was a big step in feminism. I mean, she changed black and whiteness of everyday life to color!

8/10

Maniac

Very good portrait of a serial killer.

6/10

Devils Rejects

I love it and I love Rob Zombie, the film is just as fucked up as it should be.

7/10

Night of living dead

I think it’s the worst part, but still very good. Zombie horrors aren’t my favorite type but I still like them!

8/10

Basket case

Okay, I know I should love it, but half of the time I was like, what the fuck is this thing?

3/10

Grindhouse, Planet Terror

I just love it. One of zombie’s movies that are very good.

7/10

Sugar and Spice

This movie is just super cute!

7/10

Melancholia

Good, but not as good as Antichrist.

7/10

Larry Crowne

I took my dad to see it at our local cinema. He loves Tom Hanks. Well, I do too.

5/10

Donnie Darko

Classic.

8/10

Soul Surfer

I have been following AnnaSophia’s career since Because of Winn Dixie. She’s my favorite child actress now. Soul Surfer was painfully real, but made in a too teen’y way.

6/10

Bubble boy

Cute, but messed up. It’s like that other Adam Sandler film, Happy Gilmore. Actually when I think of it, Adam Sandler has a lot of fucked up films.

5/10

Odd girl out

Middle School bullying? I know it too well. Good film.

6/10

Saw 5

Shockingly entertaining and an extra point for Julie Benz.

5/10

Minority Report

Cool idea, but nothing special.

6/10

Ice Cream Man

Crazy idea, and I loved every minute of it!

5/10

The Haunting in Connecticut

Liked it.

6/10

Dead Silence. Fame. Water for elephants. Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Evil Dead. Silence of the lambs. Exorcism of Emily Rose. An American Haunting. The Orphan. The Ward

Dead silence

Okay, so let me just start off with the following statement: I hate Saws. Because they are all predictable, there’s no scares or goosebumps there. But this movie, though from the same producers, was amazing! I love dolls and mannequins in horrors, and that was a big collection. Good idea, nice scenery, loved the soundtrack. The theme music is so very good. I was nicely surprised. So when I give Saws 3-4 points, mainly for fucked up ideas and amount of blood spilled, I’m giving it a hard 8.

‘Beware the stare of Mary Shaw. She had no children, only dolls. And if you see her in your dreams. Be sure to never ever scream.’

‘Ever since she was buried, Raven’s Fair has been plagued by death. Families murdered. They were found without their tongues.’

‘I don’t know! No one from this town dares speak Mary Shaw’s name, let alone go near her grave. They know she won’t stop killing, until the screaming does!’

‘Remember: whatever happens, don’t scream.’

8/10

Fame

Okay so first of all, I have not seen the musical, so I have nothing to compare the movie to. I saw 3 episodes of the series and I thought it was pretty good. Anyway the movie though was pretty…good! I loved most of their problems and showing that the fame isn’t so colorful at all, but I believe that was in original right? Loved Kay Panabaker’s character. It’s a very aspirational movie as was the series.

‘You have talent. Now let’s see what we can do with it.’

‘Mom, I’m talented!’
‘And who in the world told you were so special?’
‘You did.’

‘I’m gonna live forever!
I’m Gonna Learn How to Fly
I Feel It Coming Together
I’m never gonna stop this fight!
I’m Gonna Make It to Heaven!
Remember my name!’

5/10

Water for elephants

I really thought this movie was going to be disastrous. I was nicely surprised! I loved it so much I bought the book immediately. It was better than the movie as always, but the movie wasn’t bad. Second of all, I’m a vegan, so I hate circuses and pledge to never go there again. So for me seeing that elephant getting beat up was worse than any horror movie, which never get me scare just excitement. I think she would have jumped off that train with anyone who tried to safe her from her abusive husband, but no one has ever done it, so I guess Robert Pattison was good enough. The elephant responded to Polish commands. What’s not to love?

7/10

Pirates of the Caribbean 4

It was hard not to see Keira and Orlando. The plot was messed up. Definitely the worst part. I am disappointed. Loved Cruz’s angry Spanish. Cool action scenes as always. Blackbeard was a great character. Sad they killed them off. Barbossa’s still my favorite. His leg story was great. Maybe I’m getting old, but the mermaid plot wasn’t interesting at all, and young love is too cliché for me. Still movie was funny and had amazing special effects, as always.

‘Did everyone see that? Because I will *not* be doing it again.’

‘I was ready to take my vows! And you! What were you doing in a Spanish convent anyway?’
‘Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake.’

6/10

Evil dead

The only horror movie that scared me…when I was 12. So I rewatched it after almost 6 years and It’s still so good!

‘Soon all of you will be like me… And then who will lock you up in a cellar?’

‘Look at her eyes. Look at her eyes! For God’s sake, what happened to her eyes?’

‘Dead bodies in the cellar. Dead bodies in the…’

8/10

Silence of the lambs

I love Jodie and this is a classic.

‘What did you do?’
‘I went downstairs, outside. I crept up into the barn. I was so scared to look inside, but I had to.’
‘And what did you see, Clarice? What did you see?’
‘Lambs. The lambs were screaming.’
‘They were slaughtering the spring lambs?’
‘And they were screaming.’
‘And you ran away?’
‘No. First I tried to free them. I… I opened the gate to their pen, but they wouldn’t run. They just stood there, confused. They wouldn’t run.’
‘But you could and you did, didn’t you?’
‘Yes. I took one lamb, and I ran away as fast as I could.’
‘Where were you going, Clarice?’
‘I don’t know. I didn’t have any food, any water and it was very cold, very cold. I thought, I thought if I could save just one, but… he was so heavy. So heavy. I didn’t get more than a few miles when the sheriff’s car picked me up. The rancher was so angry he sent me to live at the Lutheran orphanage in Bozeman. I never saw the ranch again.’
‘What became of your lamb, Clarice?’
‘They killed him.’

‘Well, Clarice – have the lambs stopped screaming?’

10/10

Exorcism of Emily Rose

Laura Linney and Jennifer Carpenter meet best ‘possessions’ scenes I’ve ever seen. I did like them more than The Exorcist’s ones, so that’s something.

6/10

An American Haunting

Donald Sutherland did not save this movie, neither did the girl from Tomorrow When the World Began. It wasn’t good. I don’t have much to say about it.

4/10

The Orphan

I’m scared of evil kids like Esther. You know they’re capable of everything and you have no idea how to stop them. But the movie was good. I loved Esther’s relationship with her younger step-sister. Also, Vera Farmiga is fantastic.

‘Stop crying. Grab a foot, and help me get her off the road. Now!’

‘I’m not your fucking mommy!’

‘When grownups love each other very, very much… they want to show each other that love; they want to express it…’
‘I know. They fuck.’

‘If I find out that you’re lying, I’ll cut your hairless little prick off before you even figure out what it’s for. Do you understand me?’

‘Put it out of its misery.’

‘She’s not my fucking sister.’

‘They’ll send you to jail just for helping me hide her. I had to kill her, because she was going to tell on me. You’re not going to tell on me… are you?’

‘I’ll shoot Mommy if you tell.’

9/10

The Ward

Loved it! John Carpenter, but with  the HD picture. Didn’t like Danielle Panabaker’s character much. Everything else was more than fine.

7/10

Scre4m. Just Go with It. The Switch. Little Nicky. Red Eye. Ghost World. Cursed. The Dark. The Husk. My soul to Take. Lymelife. Broken. Butcher House. Imagine me and You. The Haunting. Hatchet. Blair Witch Project. Lost things.

Scre4m

The movie I have been waiting 10 years for! Aaand I wasn’t disappointed! Probably second best after the first, I was shocked who turned out to be a killer, and I seriously think that if Panettiere got the role of Jill, movie would be just perfect, I did not like Culkin and Roberts at all. I was so afraid that Gale was going to die! Courteney Cox character is definitely the best. Kirby was amazing. And where the hell  is Patrick Dempsey? He survived the last one, he should be in this one too, right? And again our super trio survived the massacre.

‘Welcome home, Sidney. You’re a survivor, aren’t you, Sidney? What good is it to be a survivor when everyone close to you is dead? You can’t save them. All you can do… is watch.’

‘Go ahead if you have the guts!’

‘Time for your last question: name the remake of the groundbreaking…’

‘Halloween, Texas Chainsaw, Dawn of the Dead, The Hills Have Eyes, Amityville Horror, Last House on the Left, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare On Elm Street, My Bloody Valentine, When A Stranger Calls, Prom Night, Black Christmas, House of Wax, The Fog, Piranha. It’s one of those, right? Right?’

‘This isn’t a comedy, it’s a horror film. People live, people die and you’d better start running’

‘Wait, wait you’re not supposed to kill me! I’m… I’m gay! …. If… if that helps?’

‘You forgot one rule about remakes – never fuck with the original.

‘Did that surprise you?’
‘Why?’
‘Because you talk too much!’
‘Now shut the fuck up and watch the movie.’

‘Four years of class together and you notice me now? You stupid bitch! It’s too late! Shhh, I know. It doesn’t happen as fast as it does in the movies, I know’

‘Your lemon squares taste like ass.’

‘It was the killer’s voice, from Stab. Or, I mean, you know, from your life.’

‘My friends? What world are you living in? I don’t need friends, I need fans. Don’t you get it? This has never been about killing you. It’s about, becoming you. I mean for fuck sake my own mother had to die, no great loss there, so I could stay true to the original. It’s sick, right? Well sick, is the new sane. You had your fifteen minutes, now I want mine! I mean what am I supposed to do? Go to college? Grad school? Work? Look around, we all live in public now, we’re all on the internet. How do you think people get famous anymore? You don’t have to achieve anything! You just got to have fucked up shit happen to you. So, you do have to die, Sid. Those are the rules. New movie, new franchise. There’s only room for one lead and let’s face it. Your ingenue days, they’re over, don’t tell me you didn’t know this day would come.’

9/10.

Just Go with It

Nicole Kidman was hilarious! Coconut competition was amusing. Hawaii… This young blonde one was annoying, I was like, when will she go? Kids were great. I really had a good time, this kid Mickey pooping on this ugly german’s hand. Favourite scene when he wanted to go back see Katherine, and she did the same thing. And Jen Aniston’s body!

‘I am a divorcee with 2 kids, and I have them name poop after you.’

‘Ian and I are breaking up.
‘What? Why? ‘
‘Well for starters, he’s gay. ‘
‘You know, I gotta say, last night, with the coconut in the ass, kind of a red flag.’

‘ I can’t wait to Twitter this to all my friends.’
‘ Oh I forgot, you’re 15.’

8/10

The Switch

After seeing this movie my mom was mad we didn’t see it at cinema. This was probably Jen Aniston at her best! Though my fav movie with her is always gonna be Rumor Has It, but this one was great too. When this kid got kicked and came to his daddy’s place, or how he hated this blonde one, and how she said: I turned him down, because he wasn’t you. I was like yeeah! And best scene was this main character’s best friend eaten a chocolate bar while on a running and said I’m a two at burning fat programme, and your burning muscules. And Julliette Lewis’s ‘Who bit the kid?’

‘Look at us, running around. Always rushed, always late. I guess that’s why they call it the human race. What we crave most in this world is connection. For some people it happens at first site. It’s when you know you know. It’s fate working its magic. And that’s great for them. They get to live in a pop song. Ride the express train. But that’s not the way it really works. For the rest of us, it’s a bit less romantic. It’s complicated, it’s messy. It’s about horrible timing, and fumbled opportunities. And not being able to say what you need to say when you need to say it. At least, that’s the way it was for me.’

Little Nicky

My favorite comedy ever! So many amazing quotes! I love all the movies that show us what hell does look like, but this is hilarious! Reese Witherspoon’s character 😀 Wes Craven’s movie with Ozzy in it and Tarantino! If that is what hell looks like I wanna go there! These two satanists are my favorite characters!

– Remember, you have to shove a pineapple up Hitler’s ass at 4 p.m.

– I’m from the South. The Deep South.

– You can do it, Ozzy! Bite ‘is freakin’ head off!

– Did you check out the dragon mouth?
– The Dark Prince is here!

– We are forever your slaves!

– I deserve this! I deserve this!

Kid: I came for the beer and the bitches.

– The last time you said everything was alright, the Renaissance happened.

9/10

Red Eye

I wanted to see this thriller of Wes Craven. And… the killer’s eyes were so bright, it was hard to look at him. I was hoping he’ll kill all these people on a plane, but unfortunately this didn’t happen. Rachel McAdams not bad, I wouldn’t write with soap on that mirror, I would probably write with a pen (if i had one) on a toilet paper, it was rather obvious that he’s going to come in and check her, I was so sure he wasn’t gonna miss this elevator, this old lady was annoying, Brian Cox rocked this movie, I was afraid he’ll die, and i was sad when he’s wallet was stolen and my hero is that redhead receptionist! And that stupid pair whining all the time, I mean come on, your hotel just exploded and you whine about some stupid room. I didn’t like it that much, but then my father said what the hell am i talking about, it was a good thriller, so maybe he’s right.

– You want us to fill out a comment card?
– Yes, I do… and after you finish, you can go ahead and just shove it up your ass.

7/10

Ghost World

I have already seen it once, but i didn’t remember much, and I always thought that Thora Birch was one of the best young actresses, so I watched it again. I couldn’t believe she got kicked out form scholarship. But the way she fucked up her life, that’s just how it is. Very good movie. And TJ Thyne is in it! I loved the satanist couple with their black umbrellas, and this guy with nunchaku!

-Do you serve beer or any alcohol?
-I wish. Actually you wish, after about five minutes of this movie, you’re gonna wish you had ten beers.

– So, what do you do if you’re a Satanist anyway?
-Sacrifice virgins and stuff.

8/10.

Cursed

I had no idea Christina Ricci starred in in. When this wolf attkted I was like what the hell, Cujo? Her brother is so annoying through all the movie, and Ricci is in half of the movies I like and I am still not her fan. Her dream was okay, guy waking up naked, oh god… when she started to smell blood, immediately I was like, Penelope? That was lame, then she started listening to Three Days Grace’ Are you ready, and I was like, thank you. When this guy came and said he’s gay, I almost pissed myself. I wouldn’t guess her boyfriend was a wolf too, It was pretty obvious that wolfman is going to attack this bitch in pantera costume, right? When he yelled to the moon with that face, I was like, come on. Then I was like oh, look, what a cute teddy bear. I don’t see how could they think they are not wolves anyomore? Hate happy endings. The only plus  was Judy Greer, who gave her best! I just don’t like werewolfs horrors and that was definitely Wes Craven’s worst movie.

I guess there’s no such thing as safe sex with a werewolf.

Fair fight? This is Hollywood!

-What the fuck was that?
-My dog.
-What kinda dog do you have?

– I’m not going to kill her. I’m just gonna rip her to shreds and let her choke on her own blood… and then maybe I’ll eat her.

2/10

The Dark

I actually liked it a lot, I have no idea why it reminded me of Orphanage so much, but it just did. This Ebril was so evil, father looked like he didn’t give  adamn about his daughter, and then naive thought it was her. I just loved the ending, the story of the family, and how the hell could he tell her that he’s gonna be her father, he forgot about his daughter already? Gorgeous views nice storyline.

7/10

The Husk

Was thinking about Children of corn all the time watching it, and that was a masterpiece, this one was just very crappy. All I have to say is nice location/corn.

2/10

My Soul To Take

Better than Cursed but definitely second worst movie of Wes Craven. Not bad, but nothing special. Main character, terrible acting.

3/10

Lymelife

Emma Roberts and Rory Culkin in the 3rd movie together. Hated the main character, his brother was great though. I have to say people claim it was a very good movie, but I saw million stories like that. Alec Baldwin and Cythia Nixon ruled this movie. Points up for the perfect ending.

7/10.

Broken

Remind me again why was I watching this shit? That was just terrible, one of the worst movies I so.

2/10.

Butcher House

That dark girl, not sure what was she supposed to represent goth/metal brought shame to all the people of these ethnic groups, she was just a coward.

7/10.

Imagine Me And You

One of the cutest romantic comedies ever. Definitely one of my favorites.

9/10.

The Haunting

Not that bad. Loved the place, this building was an abolute masterpiece, new all the actors but didn’t like anyone, ok, maybe Catherina Zeta Jones’ character was a good friend. Nice climate. Beautiful beaulding. Love special effects.

6/10.

Hatchet

Very disappointed. I just don’t like movies were the killer is some disabled kid. All characters annoying. Decided to give it a shot when I read Robert Englund was starring, and he usually guarantees a good movie, but from all movie it was his character that I loved, and unfortunately he got killed after two minutes on screen. I feel bad this black guy died, he was my favorite!

Move your asses, you don’t want to get killed do you?

3/10.

Blair Witch Project

Had time, watched it again. Don’t know why people love it so much, but I love it too.

8/10.

Lost Things

Not bad, could have been worse.

7/10.

How Do You Know? Hit and Run. Amusement. Insane. The Cycle. Glory Road.

I din’t have much time to watch anything for almost 2 months, as I changed two subjects, and had to study 2 different things, now that I passed all the exams, I give you a list of what I watched.

MV5BOTQyMzU4OTk1N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwNTE5MTUxNA@@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,673,1000_AL_ MV5BMTQ1OTU1NTA3M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwNDE5NzAwNzE@._V1_ MV5BMTQ0NTA4MzgyOV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMjY5NDA3MQ@@._V1_SY1000_CR0,0,682,1000_AL_

How Do You Know?

I am pretty mad at this movie as even Jack Nicholson couldn’t save it. His and Paul’s characters story was so boring and unnecessary, it’s just embarassing.  I loved Overnight Delievery, this movie from 1996, Reese and Paul Rudd starred together in (I will never stop calling him Phoebe’s husband). Overnight Delivery was amazing, so I went to the cinema expecting a big reunion and I see this piece of nothing. Yes the bus stop scene was cute and we got our happy ending and Reese has been one of my favorite actresses to watch for the last 12 years, but this film was below average.

3/10

Hit and Run

I actually liked it a lot. Great ending, good story, tense atmosphere, I always enjoy horrors that revolve around a car breakdown.

I don’t think I need that bumper anymore.

7/10

Amusement

Not bad I have to say, I was surprised when we accidentaly came across Katheryn Winnick aka Hannah from Bones, Lisa’s story was pretty annoying.

It’s funny right?

5/10

Insane

Wht a terrible movie, very low budget, and the only things I liked were the lake, killer’s room with all the victim pictures and the last shot of victims under the water. That’s it, I can’t say anything else was good. One of the worst horror movies I’ve seen.

1/10

The Cycle

Another terrible horror movie, well not as bad as the previous one, but not good either. Awful ending.

3/10

Glory Road

Since I accidentaly watched Amusement with this new Bones character, I thought, why not watch something with Bones herself? Glory Road is a good sports movie, The only bad thing I have to say is… what the hell is wrong with Emily Deschanel’s voice in this movie? Don’t tell me they switched her voice with some other woman? You do not have to play basketball to like this film, although I did change my original rating from 9 to 6, because I do not remember being it that good.

Boogeyman. It’s kind of a funny story. Birds. I Spit on your Grave. Tourist. Harry Potter 7.

Boogeyman

Not that bad actually, and Emily Deschanel all the way.

For fifteen years, everybody told me I was making it up. Everyone said it was just a story. There’s no such thing as the Boogeyman. But I was right.

When you’re afraid, close your eyes and count to five. Sometimes it works for me.
What happens when you get to six?

My rate: 5/10

It’s kind of a funny story

But it really doesn’t work that way, you won’t be cured just after 5 days spent in mental institution. I wished they tell us why she was in there, why she was cutting herself. Very nice atmosphere, almost not  real in mental hospitals.

See, that’s the part I don’t get, Craig. I mean, you’re cool, you’re smart, you’re talented. You have a family that loves you. You know, what I would do just to be you, for just a day? I would… I would do so much. I would… I don’t know. I would just… I’d just live. Like it meant something.

What can I say about that quote… sometimes living is not enough, something screws you up and you just don’t know how to start living and laugh again.

“I didn’t want to wake up. I was having a much better time asleep. And that’s really sad. It was almost like a reverse nightmare, like when you wake up from a nightmare you’re so relieved. I woke up into a nightmare.”

Okay, I know you’re thinking, “What is this? Kid spends a few days in the hospital and all his problems are cured?” But I’m not. I know I’m not. I can tell this is just the beginning. I still need to face my homework, my school, my friends. My dad. But the difference between today and last Saturday is that for the first time in a while, I can look forward to the things I want to do in my life. Bike, eat, drink, talk. Ride the subway, read, read maps. Make maps, make art. Finish the Gates application. Tell my dad not to stress about it. Hug my mom. Kiss my little sister. Kiss my dad. Make out with Noelle. Make out with her more. Take her on a picnic. See a movie with her. See a movie with Aaron. Heck, see a movie with Nia. Have a party. Tell people my story. Volunteer at 3 North. Help people like Bobby. Like Muqtada. Like me. Draw more. Draw a person. Draw a naked person. Draw Noelle naked. Run, travel, swim, skip. Yeah, I know it’s lame, but, whatever. Skip anyway. Breathe… Live.

My rate: 5/10

Birds

Do I really need to tell you how disappointed I get every time I watch this movie. I mean this is Hitchcock, not some low budget horror movie with this lady who is well not so intelligent as she opened the door and got almost killed, I was like what the hell do you think you’re doing, you must know birds are still out there.  I would show birds eating eyes and attacking those kids even more. Of course she had this bandage all over her head tied so gracefully, like in all old movies, when the stars need to look perfectly even in terrible conditions.  The best scene with the man lighting the cigarette while standing on gas. The location is very nice. My father say they were all scared when this movie came out in 63, but come on it’s not scary at all.

My rate: 6/10

I spit on your grave

I really liked it. I love hardcore movies. I mean I am glad someone finally showed since of girl getting raped. I have no idea how she escaped from the water not being seen, but still. This retarted guy was annoying, and I hated when guys tell him to rape her, and I felt sorry for him, but twhen he actually did it, I was shocked, wasn’t he supposed to say, It’s not right, I don’t want to? How stupid does a young woman need to be to come to woods all by herself? Generally a very good movie, you will be shocked watching this one!

– She is just an innocent girl!

– So was I.

My rate: 7/10

Tourist

I read somewhere that Depp looked like all he was thinking about was a dinner, and I totally agree with that! No chemistry between him and Jolie, and we all thought this is hoing to be the couple, well we got fooled again. What I did love was the ending so surprising, my dad didn’t get it in the first place! We still don’t get how is it possible that she chose actually him in that train. And of course Angie looking as beautiful as always aaand Venice, aaa, wonderful views, I need to go there again.

Elise: 20 million dollars worth of plastic surgery. And that’s the face you choose.
Frank: You don’t like it?
Elise: It will do.

My rate 4/10

Harry Potter 7

Not bad, but when I was sitting there at the cinema, all I was thinking was how much does it all look like a situation in communist country, all the repressing, and killing for treating. I didn’t see that when I was writing a book, well maybe because I was 14 then.

Welcome to ReviewThisFilm

This website started in 2010 as weekly reviews of movies and tv episodes, and a diary of the 700 new films I watched every year. Today it’s a place for me to write a few words on films and tv shows that leave some sort of impact on me. I no longer write in depth reviews, mostly thanks to bad habits gained by spending many hours a day on Letterboxd.

If you have a film you would like me to watch and review,  please leave a comment.

Enjoy!

About the Author

All I do is watch movies, the good, the bad and the ugly. Sometimes I make my own.

Check out my latest film (120K+ views on Youtube):

www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP3Iz23hD7M

I’ve seen over 6000 films and 220 TV shows. I have a degree in Film Production, and wrote my dissertation on Italian neorealism. I mostly gravitate towards social issues films, anything Ken Loach, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Roberto Rossellini, Vittorio De Sica or Jafar Panahi, etc.

I rate films within genre. I watch a lot of films on Mubi, Filmbox Arthouse. My favourite directors are Yasujiro Ozu, Ken Loach, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Zhang Yimou, Roberto Rossellini, Ingmar Bergman, Brian De Palma, Vittorio De Sica and Andrzej Wajda. My favourite actresses have always been Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. I’m nostalgic and reminisce a lot. I’m at the cinema 10 times a month. And I’m a Polish-British millennial.

I will watch anything:

psychological | arthouse | foreign | independent | drama | horror | lgbt | strong female characters | female centred films | dysfunctional families | sexual assault | troubled childhood | mental health issues

About me

I am the dark and twisty Meredith Grey, the mad Dexter Morgan, hoping to grow up to be a little more like the wise, but fun Nora Walker. I am an aspiring filmmaker. My favorite actresses are Jodie Foster, Sally Field and Julianne Moore. Favorite genre – psychological drama. I watch anything with a sexual or mental abuse plot. I used to be a horror freak. I am obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy, SVU and many more. My other interests include making oil and pencil portraits and wildlife conservation. I cannot say no to beautiful landscapes, travel, Aussie accent, TV/film quotes and avocados. I have recently moved back from Australia to the UK. I’ve been running this blog for the last 9 years. Here I comment on films and episodes I watch. Enjoy! – Joanne

favourite film and tv quotes

‘When I lived in Porpoise Spit, I used to sit in my room for hours and listen to ABBA songs. But since I’ve met you and moved to Sydney, I haven’t listened to one Abba song. That’s because my life is as good as an Abba song. It’s as good as Dancing Queen.’ (Muriel’s Wedding)

‘I used to think about
your life in New York. I tried to imagine your room. I kept track of the time difference, so I  knew when you were awake and when you were asleep.’ (Disobedience)

‘Nothing’s clean, Howard. But we do our best, right?’ (The Aviator)

‘No, I’m not quitting. I don’t quit things.’
‘No, actually you do. Your mother quit your father. Your father quit you. You quit your boyfriend and if I read your hospital chart correctly you quit your life momentarily on a couple of occasions. You quit. It’s what you know how to do.’ (Greys)

‘Where the hell was I that year?’
‘Your were watching television’. (Everybody Loves Raymond)

‘It’s impossible to worry about anything else when there’s blood coming out of you.’
(Short Term 12)

‘I wanted it to happen. And when we were girls… Even then, it was the same. It’s always been this way! I have always wanted it.’ (Disobedience)

‘Sometimes it’s easy, sometimes you play games in your head. You make up someone, someone good.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a moment when our lives change forever. The moment we admit our weaknesses, the moment we rise to a challenge, the moment we accept a sacrifice, or let a loved one go. And sometimes the change in our lives is an answer to our prayers.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Yesterday I went to the movies all day by myself. One after the other. I’ve never done that before. I had a really happy day.’ (Doing Time for Patsy Cline)

‘I just need something to happen. I need a sign that things are going to change. I need a reason to go on. I need some hope. And in the absence of hope, I need to stay in bed a feel like I might die today.’ (Greys)

‘She saved me my whole life. Without her, I’m nothing.’ (The Favourite)

‘Don’t wonder why people go crazy. Wonder why they don’t. In face of what we can lose in a day, in an instant, wonder what the hell it is that make us hold it together.’  (Greys)

‘Bree sobbed quietly in the restroom for five miutes, but her husband never knew, because when Bree finally emerged, she was perfect.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘I am not food, you cannot just eat and eat.’ (The Favourite)

‘I don’t love him.’
‘Of course you do.’
‘No!’
‘Don’t take me for a fool Olive,  I’m many things but I’m not a fool.’
‘I know that, you’re brilliant.’
‘Don’t you see, it’s over. Whatever this is, was, it’s over.’
‘I love You.’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘At the end of the day, the fact that we have the courage to still be standing, is reason enough to celebrate.’ (Greys)

‘Many years ago, a neighbour and a good friend of ours took her life, and that left us all heartbroken and perplexed. But somehow, when I was alone in that hotel room, I forget about all the pain that she caused. In those awful moments, I thought maybe she had the answer.‘ (Desperate Housewives)

‘What happened last year when you fell in the water?’
‘I almost drowned. Do you think I did that for kicks?’
‘You put your hand in a body cavity that contained unexploded ammunition.’
‘I was trying to save a patient!’
‘Why is it that every other person in that room had the sense to hit the deck? You know people run away from this line between life and death. You seem to stand on it and wait for a strong wind to sway you one way or the other. You’re careless with your life. You’re not slitting your wrists but you’re careless. Probably because your mother told you you were a waste of space on this planet. The problem is you believed her. And if you don’t want out one of these days you’re going to die because of it.’  (Greys)

‘This is the street where I used to live and these were the people with whom I shared my life. I met them the day they moved in. And I saw what they brought with them. Beautiful dreams for the future. And quiet hopes for a better life. Not just for themselves, but for their children, too. If I could, would I tell them what lies ahead? Would I warn them of the sorrow and betrayal that lie in store? No. From where I stand now, I see enough of the road to understand how it must be traveled. The trick is to keep moving forward, to let go of the fear and the regret that slow us down and keep us from enjoying a journey that will be over too soon. Yes, there will be unexpected bends in the road, shocking surprises we didn’t see coming, but that’s really the point. Don’t you think?’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Was your life not working when you let that slip out from under you?’
‘When are you going to stop suggesting that I’m suicidal?’
‘When you start acting like someone that wants to be alive.’
‘Give me my chart.’
‘Why?’
‘Because I’m not suicidal, and if it says that I am, then it’s wrong.’ (Greys)

‘There is nothing wrong with me.’
‘Then show me your arm.’ (Degrassi)

‘Look, my whole life, I have been the freak. The girl who nobody picked for dodgeball. The girl who didn’t have a mom. The girl who dressed funny because it was her dad buying her clothes. And then, tonight I looked at these people, and I thought maybe there’s a future where I don’t have to be a freak. Maybe I can be who I am and that’s okay.’ (Everything Sucks)

‘Dr, I have been this way since…since I can remember. There is no cure.’ (American Horror Story)

‘He was so crazy about me, I couldn’t breathe. So we tried drinking our way back into love, but it never made sense in the morning. So I ran. And every time I came back, he was here. And he was still crazy about me.’ (My Blueberry Nights)

‘Bree van de Kamp had always wanted to live her life with elegance and grace. That is also how she wanted to die. Her plan was to pour herself a glass of her favorite chardonnay, put on her most stylish nightgown and leave behind a note on embossed stationery.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘All we have is this moment. The future is just a fucking concept that we use to avoid being alive today. So be… here…. now.’ (Six Feet Under)

‘On the train coming here, we were in the same cart, I saw you, you were reading and you feel asleep. I didn’t dare to look at you, you were so beautiful, it was scary. Afterwards,  I couldn’t stop thinking about you. It made me smile. Then I thought of all the men who would get to hold you, who’d make you laugh. How lucky they were.’ (Enemy at the Gates)

‘It was a good day. Maybe even a great day. Even when it was hard, I was the me in my head. There was a moment when I thought I cant do this, I cant do this alone. I close my eyes and imagine myself doing it, and I did, I blocked out the fear, and I did it.’ (Greys)

‘There comes a time when we must expose our weaknesses. When our secrets can no longer remain private, when our solitude can no longer be denied, when our pain can no longer be ignored, but sometimes we feel so alone that a weakness we thought we’d overcome suddenly becomes too strong to fight.’ (Desperate Housewives)

‘Why did you get married, Esti? Why didn’t you just leave? So everything was all right when I left?’
‘No. I was ill.’
‘What sort of ill?’
‘In my head.’
‘If I had to sleep with a man, why not with our best friend?’
‘Oh, Esti…’
‘It hasn’t been a complete disaster.’
‘And that’s enough?! Do you have to have sex every Friday?’
‘It’s expected.’
‘It’s medieval. What happened to you?’
‘Nothing. You happened to me. And then I started teaching and that became important. I give them ambition.’
‘To do what? Push out seven babies and be a good wife?’
‘Don’t. Don’t. I help them to value themselves.’
‘Okay, but what about you?’
‘That is me. And you? Are you happy?’
‘Yes, I am.’
‘Have you been with other women?’
‘No. Not really. And you?’
‘No.’
‘But, Esti… Do you still
only fancy women?’ (Disobedience)

‘OK, then, listen. Let’s not get caught.’
‘What are you talkin’ about?’
‘Let’s keep goin’!’
‘What d’you mean?’
‘Go.’
‘You sure?’
‘Yeah. Yeah.’ (Thelma & Louise)

‘She let me live at Nora’s house. She let me believe that I was a part of their family. I fell in love with that family. What am I supposed to do, just sit there, pretend I’m related to them? I was happy. For the first time in my life I was happy.’ (Brothers and Sisters)

‘You will be left all alone with your bitterness and your rage and your knowledge that you loved her and she loved you and you threw it away for them.’
‘Do you love her?’
‘Yes.’
‘And Have you always?’
‘Yes.’
‘So then ask her.’
‘Olive, will you forgive me?’ (Professor Marston and the Wonder Women)

‘No razors, no scissors, no fucking freedom.’
(Short Term 12)

‘You can’t take a picture of this. It’s already gone.’ (Six Feet Under)
